The angled-viewing Endeavor HD 20-60x82 Spotting Scope from Vanguard combines a nitrogen-filled magnesium housing and a fully multi-coated optical path to create a well-equipped zoom optic for intermediate- to long-range observation. Vanguard gave the Endeavor HD series an extra-low dispersion (ED) lens system and phase-corrected BAK4 prisms, which maximize light transmission and produce color-faithful images that are rich with contrast.

This version of the Endeavor HD spotting scope includes a 20-60x zoom eyepiece featuring a rubber zoom dial. A 1:3 zoom ratio and 2.1-1.0° angle of view complement the eyepiece's long 19mm eye relief and rubber eyecup, which help to provide additional viewing comfort for long-duration observations.

In addition to the image quality and weather-sealed construction, the Endeavor HD includes several features that enhance the scope's functionality. A stacked dual-focus mechanism enables the observer to make fine- and coarse-focus adjustments. The tripod mounting foot has a standard 1/4"-20 socket and is compatible with Vanguard tripods that accept the universal mounting shoe. An integrated sunshade and included custom-fit raincoat carrying case help to make the Endeavor HD a full-featured spotting scope for outdoor use.

Q: 1. How does the included adapter work with newer multi-camera iPhones?

A: Most smart phones only use 1 of the lenses for the photo. You would just align the adapter with the preferred lens.

Q: 2. How does an attached DSLR balance with the adapter? Seems that would over-torque the connection. I have a Nikon D750.

A: Hi Robert. I am sorry but I have not yet tried the endeavor with my DSLR or any other camera. As far as the quality of the lens itself from a mechanical and optical standpoint it as been first rate. Bill

A: Sorry , won,t fit. Shoe of spot scope is too small.

A: The front is threaded although the lens cap says 84 diameter. Don't have a filter to actually test size with however.

A: Most likely. We use a Novograde camera adaptor to digiscope with an iPhone. Vanguard states in their users guide that they sell an adaptor kit for DSLRs for digiscoping with their Endeavor HD scopes: PA-202, including two adaptor sizes, 58mm & 52mm. I would assume it would serve major DSLR brands like the Nikon D series.

A: Yes this is a great model for birding. It has an 82mm objective so in low light settings it will be perfect. Also the brand Vanguard is a really nice quality brand with good glass. Specifications wise this is a perfect choice.

A: The Vanguard Endeavor HD 20-60x82 Spotting Scope features impressive clarity at 20x, 40x.and little softer focus at 60x ..., dull and barely discernable even after refocusing. These observations are in afternoon light on crisp dry desert days.

[5.445 lb] This is an upgrade from a Cabela's Pine Ridge scope I've used for nearly 20 years. I assume most people looking at this scope are looking to upgrade, not Swavorski users. I use this scope for birding watching with a Manfroto tripod. Pros: Coarse/fine focus. I really like the fine focus nob. Makes it really easy to dial in on exactly the bird you want. Clarity. The ED glass and 82mm objective give sharp, clear images. Nice big eyepiece as well, works good with glasses. Solid. This scope feels like a high-precision piece of equipment. Cons: Weight. Coupled with an aluminum Manfrotto tripod, it is heavy. As I said in my tripod review, this can be a plus when you are standing in the wind looking at ducks and shorebirds. But it is a bit of a chore to carry. I think I've worked out a good strap system that should help. So far, very pleased with the scope. The bag seems good, have not tried that in the field yet, with rain moving in this week, it will soon get a workout I'm sure. Expecting this scope to last me a good 20 years plus. 5

[Angled] I am very happy with this purchase. The optics are very clear. I have a friend that has a spotting scope that costed 3x this much. I would recommend checking this one before spending the extra money on those far more expensive units. 5

[20 to 60x] This scope offers a lot of features and quality for the bucks. The optics are clear and sharp, and the scope is solidly constructed. It's too bad Vanguard doesn't offer a prime eyepiece, such as a 30x, but the supplied zoom eyepiece is still quite good. Beyond 40x the image softens noticeably, although that's typical for most moderately priced scopes. Unlike some of the other reviewers, I found the focusing mechanism to be extremely smooth with just the right amount of resistance. The cover fits a bit snugly but it also provides excellent protection. I've been using the scope to observe birds and other wildlife as well as for casual astronomy. 5

[19.0 to 20.0 mm] Spectacular scope for its price point. I had been using a B&L Discover scope for decades before purchasing this scope. This scope easily triples my binocular range for bird-watching. 5

[20 to 60x] I bought the endeavor 82 spotting scope and let it deliver to my hotel. It arrived nice on time and in great condition. The view is more than I ever imagined and the case it comes with fits good and comes in handy. A tip for everyone buying this spotting scope: use a good that can gold the weight and not a cheap one. I used it on a old Vanguard Tripod we had at home and fully extended it was a little wobbly. My advise is to also buy the Vanguard Espod CX1 tabletop Tripod with it. It had a great stability and holds the scope really steady 5

[5.445 lb] Finally got a trip to the range today to try out the scope for its intended use. Longest range at or club is 200 yards and it was very easy to see .223 size holes on white paper at that distance. Scope gives a very sharp image at low to mid magnification. At 60X the .223 holes were all visible, but a bit blurry; backing down the magnification to around 45-50X really sharpened up the image, while still making the target very easy to see. One thing that really helped was the Tripod that Vanguard provided free as part of a rebate; it was not a chintzy freebee they were giving away, but a very stable high quality tripod with dampened video panning head that made it easy to manipulate to find the target and to hold it in place when locked. I am glad that I spent the money for a scope of this quality vs. an entry level unit (this is my first scope), so I avoided having to do a re-do in short order. You get what you pay for in quality glass. B&H had the best pricing by far on this scope; catching the tripod rebate going on was icing on the cake. Highly recommended! 5

[Angled] I love this scope. I was looking for a decent first scope for me at a good price and this is the scope I saw everywhere. It has a really good image. More distortion as you get closer to 60 power. 5
