Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. No specs/ dimensions for any of these cubes. Come on! Peak Design doesn't have a tape measure?

A: The Peak Design Camera Cube V2 (Black, Small/Medium) measures 12.2 x 9.25 x 5.9 inches, and the internal volume is 10 liters.

Q: 2. I’d like to use the large cube in the fstop gear 37L Loka bag. Will it fit and are the attachment points compatible?

A: The Peak Design Camera Cube V2 (Black, Large) will fit in the f-stop Loka UL 37L Backpack. The attachment points are not compatible, however.

Q: 3. Should i get SMedium or Medium size for 2×R6MII, RF10-20mm, 15-30mm, 24-70mm, 100-500mm, binoculars. Will SMedium fit all these?

A: For the amount of gear you are looking to transport, the Peak Design Camera Cube V2 (Black, Medium) would be a better pick instead of the Peak Design Camera Cube V2 (Black, Small/Medium), B&H # PEBCCSMBK3.

Q: 4. Will the medium fit in my 30 L travel backpack?

A: Yes, the Peak Design Camera Cube V2 (Black, Medium) is compatible with the Peak Design Travel Backpack 30L.

Q: 5. Can the Canon RF 100-500mm, w/ both caps attached, fit within the smedium camera cube when lying against its 22mm interior edge?

A: While the Canon 100-500mm f/4.5-7.1 L IS USM lens fits lying against the 22cm edge of the Peak Design Camera Cube V2 (Black, Small/Medium), it does press up against the walls and is a tight fit.

Q: 6. Can this be used with a Sony FDR ax53?

A: Yes, it will work fine with the FDR AX53.

Q: 7. Will the Peak Design Large cube fit inside a Shimoda Action x40?

A: Unfortunately, the Peak Design Camera Cube V2 (Black, Large) is too wide and won't fit in the Shimoda Designs Action X40 V2 Backpack (Black, 40L).

Q: 8. are these new cubes the same size as their older counterparts?

A: The Peak Design Camera Cube V2 (Black, Small/Medium) has the same volume as the V1 camera cube.

Q: 9. does this clip still work as a quick release plate for a monopod? Previous versions could be screwed onto a 3/8 stud to act as a quick release.

A: On the V3, there is no longer a tripod thread hole on the backside of the backplate. Though both our Standard Plate and Dual Plate are both tripod compatible with most mounts on the market. Q: 10. Can you put a Sony 600mm f4 attached to a Sony Alpha One in the large cube?

A: Unfortunately, the Sony FE 600mm f/4 GM OSS Lens does not fit inside of the Peak Design Camera Cube V2 (Black, Large).

[0.215 lb] My 3 small cubes fit perfectly in my 45L PD back pack. Easily compressed and very hardy. Highly recommend

[Zipper] I bought these for a backpacking trip and they were so useful I’ve began using them daily already. Each size has its own use and I’m surprised at the ease of access and sturdiness of zippers and fabric.

[Empty] ...when they fit your use case, they are absolute worth it! For me, the ultralight packing cubes are exactly what I needed. I own a 30l everyday backpack, and they fit like a glove. The regular packing cubes sit a bit too tight, if you tend to use the backpack's flaps side pockets. These don't. Three of them easily stack, four, if you force it. With my camera, an extra lens, tech pouch and toiletries, two of them fit on top. To put it in perspective, I can fit t-shirts, undies and socks for four days into one cube (s). That leaves another for a light sweater and some pants. But the real game changer is, that 1 the cubes are waterproof and 2 the passthroughs on the sides. I don't mean the loop, I mean the passthroughs where the fabric foulds and is stitched together. Because this way, you can pass the lower external straps of the everyday backpack though and put one cube under the backpack, without dangling around, like it would do, if you'd use the loops. It sits tight underneath the backpack. That expands your space by easily 6 to 10 liters!
That's why I always carry one of those cubes in my backpack. If I should shop groceries and need more space, I can expand my capacities on the fly. I love it!

[Zipper] Multi-purpose and easy to use pouches that can contain more items in it that one would assume. The carefully placed loops are also functional and absolutely compatible with Peakdesign's existing straps making it easy to convert them from a pouch to a sling bag.

[Black] I'm so excited to use my packing cube for a trip to Scandinavia soon. I've been "practicing packing" to just see how much I can squeeze in! With the compression zipper - it's a lot! I love the fact that it just pulls apart to open it (no searching for zipper ends) ... then I expand it to fill it up ... then compress it to bring it all down to a packable size. The width of it fits perfectly into the width of my carryon bag. At first I thought that was just a nice coincidence, but I'm sure there was a lot of research that went into it so I will give credit where credit's due. Great features and worth the money!

[Empty] I love my xs packing cube, it fits in my everyday carry bag and is always ready to put my valuables in to keep dry when I get caught in a downpour while commuting on the bus.

[Black] For me these packing cubes are exactly what I want without the flaws of many other brands.
- The fabric is soft and pliable while also being durable. II hate the stiff ones that won’t mold to available space. These adapt to suitcase or backpack
- Clean/dirty - I love the two compartment design where you can separate items without needing an entirely different cube. It is also great that the divider molds to adapt to what is in the compartments so no wasted space
-Compression zipper allows same cube for smaller or larger amounts of clothing
- No mesh - I know some people like mesh for air circulation but I don’t like mesh because it usually isn’t as durable and becomes easier for clothing to take on other smells within the back.

[Empty] Something I haven't seen mentioned anywhere is how well the large (10L) bag fits over the small PD camera cube. A great way to provide additional weather resistance for when the small cube is worn as a bag. There's just enough space to fold back the lid of the small cube and tuck it inside the ultralight cube for quick access. Having both also means that should you need extra space in a pinch, you could take out the small cube from the ultralight and use them independently.

The durability is likely to be an issue, as with essentially all ultralight fabrics. This looks like a sil-nylon, so a gear aid sil-patch should work well. So far 5* for the design and features. Durability and actual real-world weather testing might affect the long-term rating.

[Empty] I have used a number of other packing cubes over the years, but none are convenient as the peak. I’ve got both the Smalls and mediums and both sage and charcoal.

The shape and the fact they open completely make them the easiest to pack and compress and they are deceptively large. I’m pretty big, xxl everything. I got two pair of Orvis Jackson pants 9not shorts), 6 Columbia long sleeve bahama II shirts and a couple of tee shirts in a medium. And they fit perfectly in a carryon suit case.
I don’t know if this is correct or perception, but the sage feel a little heavier and rougher than the charcoal.
Don’t think twice, if you’re looking for compression cubes, these are the ones

[Empty] I used to throw all by bathroom/toiletry items in one big bag, and every night I had to dump the bag. I’ve bought an XS and XXS cube - they will be great for differentiating and organizing. One cube is mesh so anything that might be wet can breath. I’m thrilled to have them, and expect more will be added.
