The 1" aluminum dome tweeter is designed to be light, efficient, and rigid, providing high SPL (sound pressure level) with minimal distortion and a sense of transparency. It deploys a finite-element-analysis (FEA)-optimized diffuser to help ensure that the tweeter has optimal on-axis and off-axis frequency response, so that everyone in your listening room gets the best performance.

The 4.5" bass woofer is built on a cast ABS-fiberglass composite basket for enhanced component alignment and an inert frame without resonances or added harmonics. Its polypropylene cone is designed to be light and rigid to give a flat frequency response and the SPL necessary to keep up with the other drivers. The woofer uses aluminum shorting rings for reduced distortion, and a vented voice coil former to keep the motor assembly cool during high SPL playback. For augmented bass extension, the cabinet is rear-ported and tuned for the woofer.

The SoundMatch crossover uses air-core inductors and heavy-trace printed circuit boards to help produce sound with lower distortion and tighter tolerances with better heat dissipation. The 2-way crossover is tuned so each driver can blend each other while offering optimal on- and off-axis response, while maintaining phase coherency and sharp time domain behavior.

  • 1" wide-flared rear-firing port
  • Cloth grille with pin/cup retention system
  • Elastomer stick-on bumper feet
  • Keyway bracket for wall mounting

  • Acoustically transparent and FEA-optimized grilles, chamfered front baffle, and flush-mounted drivers all contribute to reduced edge diffraction and augmented on-axis high-frequency response
  • FEA-optimized bracing reduces cabinet resonances

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Is it compatible for a room of 17x15x6(LBH)

A: Yes, it is, and it will sound quite good.

Q: 2. Will it work with a Roku?

A: Yes it can.

Q: 3. Do the Home Theater System come with Cables for the Speakers and how long are They.? Thank you very much.? JJ

A: Yes it comes with cables but unfortunately Yamaha does not specify their length.

Q: 4. What speaker mounts are recommended for use with these speakers?

A: The Peerless-AV Model PM-731 BH #PEPM731 would be a good choice.

Q: 5. are wall mounts for the speakers included?

A: No. The Yamaha YHT-4950U 5.1-Channel Home Theater System, would not come with wall mounts.

Q: 6. Its 100/240v? works on 220v??

A: Yamaha does not specify on this model. But typically their units that are sold at B&H and throughout North America function only for compatibility in North America.

Q: 7. Does this system works well on 220VDC?

A: No it does not. 120V AC/60 Hz only.

Q: 8. Does this have a connection for a turntable?

A: Yes but the turntable would either need to have a built in preamp or it would need to already be connected to an external preamp.

Q: 9. Can I remove the feet from the bottom of the receiver so that it will fit in the space where I want to put it?

A: The Yamaha YHT-4950U 5.1-Channel Home Theater System (BH # YAYHT4950UBL) is not designed to have the feet removed from the chassis of the receiver. The feet help dampen any vibration and help maintain ventilation and air flow beneath the unit. We do not recommend removing the feet as it may damage the receiver and void the manufacturer's warranty.

Q: 10. Where are the amplifier and the speakers manufactured?

A: This system is manufactured in China.

[8 Ohms] I did a lot of research and looked into many different projectors, online specs review and field testing at electronic stores. I use the probe for for movies. The HD 66 is simy right on theory if you are looking for a compact, silent, yet sufficiently bright projector with deep connectivity. I'm using the HD connection - great to have, but it also has all other connections to cover your basics, VGA, s-video and component. The speaker is not worth mentioning, at least for movies, it may perhaps be ok for some sound effects during your next presentation or the odd clip here and there. But then I'm running everything at home through an LG HOME THEATER system, so the speaker is disabled and so far I didn't turn it back on. All in all a great projector for good money.

[8 Ohms] Out of the box settings are too bright and need to be calibrated for my purposes (primarily low light viewing). After calibration picture quality is outstanding for this price range. I use this with HDMI sources (HTPC & PS3). Note about Rainbow affect: It 'can' be noticeable in high contrast situations and if you dart your eyes back and forth across the screen and keep on doing that. Most people keep their eyes relatively in the same area, or move them slowly, so it 'likely' won't be an issue. I see it sometimes but not enough to bother me. For the Home-Theatre-in-a-Box portability and placement, I got this along with the Elite F100NWH portable screen, and JVC TH-BA1 soundbar. My friends can't believe the 5 min setup and take down.

[8 Ohms] Everything worked fine out of the box, the set up was easy and the sound is awesome. It doesn't have the snob-appeal of the big-name brands, and the sound quality probably doesn't meet the exacting standards of true audiophiles, but for us it more than good enough.

[85 dB] Well built speaker which is what I expect from SvS products.
The sound is wide enough for music which is my primary use.
Brings out vocals nicely.

[8 Ohms] This, to me, seemed to be a better value than ANY television. For the price of this projector and an inexpensive screen together, you're still spending less for a considerably large image. Most of my TV watching is done in dimly lit rooms anyway so, the fact that my picture suffers in direct sunlight is not that big of a deal. You can still watch this projector in a moderately lit room but the black level will suffer a little. Overhead lights or bright lamps will wash out a lot of the image but table lamps or track lighting should be okay for a decent picture. Obviously, the best image will come in a totally dark room but many TVs in the price range of this projector will be challanged in the same way. The projector comes with on-board speakers that you'll want to disable at installation. You can access the menu through the remote to turn the projector's sound level all the way down (if you're using HDMI cables. It's a moot issue if you're using component cables or RCAs). Placement requires a little bit of planning since there's no horizontal keystone correction. You can shift the image vertically and that's about it. If you need a projector that has more features, you'll need to spend a little more money.
