Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. The specs say this is compatible with a Sennheiser ME66, but it seems too big for it. I can’t find any reviews online, has anyone tried this and what is your opinion?

A: I think you're correct. The ME66/K6 is 8.7" long, and the interior of this windshield is also 8.7". And although we do not have a 7" K-tech, you might want to consider this one from Auray: https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1047687-REG/auray_wsw_007mkii_fuzzy_windbuster_for_rovmr.html

Q: 2. will this have an internal cable? can it carry a blimp with ntg2

A: This boom pole does not have an internal cable. It comes with a 3/8 of an inch boom pole thread that will be able to support a shock mount or a blimp with that same thread. 3/8 of an inch is a standard size when dealing with shotgun style microphones.

Q: 3. is the boompole cabeled?

A: No.

Q: 4. Best way to wire this? Straight cable? XLR module for the exit?

A: The is no 'best'. It's a matter of preference.

Q: 5. how many weight can it handle at full length 10 feet long when horizontal handing ?

A: I'm not sure of the actual weight limit for it. I can tell you I use a Rode NTG4+ and a Blimp and it holds that fine. You can tell it feels a flimsier with the carbon fiber construction that a metal pole. I would guess putting more than about 10 lbs on it would be too much for it.

Q: 6. Will this work with the sennheiser mke 600?

A: Yes, the Airo by K-Tek ASM1 Shockmount is compatible for use with the Sennheiser MKE 600 shotgun microphone.

Q: 7. Will this work with the Sennheiser MKH 60?

A: Yes, the Airo by K-Tek ASM1 Shockmount 1 is compatible for use with the Sennheiser MKH 60 Shotgun Microphone.

Q: 8. Can you use a mic boom pole like this with a strobe flash with a 60" octabox?

A: No

Q: 9. Can you run a cable inside the pole?

A: Unfortunately you cannot run a cable through this pole.

Q: 10. When the center post is unadjusted and lowered to the minimum, is its working height 106.7 cm or 92 cm?

A: The Minimum Working Height is 42" / 106.7 cm

[47 x 3 x 2"] Very light and well finished. The locking system works good and holds tight the sections.

[3/8"-16 Male] As the title mentions, it is a well balanced travel boompole. Not too heavy, not too expensive, not too long - just right for travel. I’ve had several soundies not recommending internally cabled poles, but if you lean towards convenience rather than pure quality and lower risk of error, then this is for you. Especially with the XLR input on the side rather than the end of the pole it makes rigging it on a stand cleanly. I only use this for sit down interviews, so I can’t say for actually oping. But I can hear the cables inside and handling audible in my Zoom H6 with Rode NTG4+ or Senal SCI-3212. So I’d suggest wearing gloves or some dampening solution for oping. Also the main reason I got this was for traveling light. But can’t justify the carbon version as it’s not my daily kit. Shipping to Korea was easy but be aware of import tax. Cheers to the BH team for prompt communication despite these uncertain times.

[47 x 3 x 2"] Should have bought this years ago. Nearly 7' reach means it's good for almost any project and collapses to less than 2' - can pack it anywhere.

[47 x 3 x 2"] I use the boom as both a mic boom and a pole for GoPro video camera when the camera is pole cam. I used the pole as a pole cam video in sea water and it cleaned up without corrosion to the threads or any parts. Very light and strong and highly recommended as boom pole or GoPro camera pole.

[5] This is a very well made boompole. I was thinking about going Carbon Fiber to keep weight down, but I also needed something to fit inside my carryon Pelican 1535TPAir case. Naturally, I understood it would have short reach which removes this as a con as I knew what I was getting into. Now the build quality is amazing. It feels lightweight but sturdy for a metal build. The only problem I have is twisting the knobs, but it takes gloves and proper knowledge of where to grip depending on how tight the knobs are and which you tightened or untightened first. Aside from this problem, it is a very good price for it's capabilities. I will eventually buy a longer but CF boompole, but for small and mobile shoots that are overseas or off the plane, this is my goto.

[5] Pricey, but I had to fit it in my suitcase. Seems pretty durable but time will tell. I love how light weight it is and the compactness of it when folded down. Yet, it does not compromise on reach when you need it. This pole extends more than you need it!

[3/8"-16 Male] This boom pole packs down very small but still has a good length. Very Sturdy McDirty caught me having a flirty with Mrs Murty McMurty

[Removable] Surprisingly light. I'm able to use this boom pole using only a light stand (when needed). It'll fit into a Peli 1615 diagonally, which works great for our travel requirements.
