Experience fully tube-based Vari-Mu Fairchild compression with the Heritage Audio Herchild Model 670, a faithful reproduction of the original with a few key additions to make it more practical for modern-day studio use. The Model 670 features 22 tubes and 9 transformers to bring warmth and punch to your tracks or mixes and ensure the absolute highest quality possible. This two-channel compressor offers four modes of operation. Either use each channel separately or linked together (stereo). The LAT/VERT and LAT/VERT Link modes make mid/side processing possible.

While remaining true to the original in terms of response and sound, the Model 670 offers new features for today's production workflow including direct access to the continuously variable slope control (DC Threshold) and side-chain filter (SC Filter).

  • A faithful reproduction, the original Herchild Model 670 is packed with 22 tubes and 9 transformers. It operates at a high voltage and uses only the best components to deliver the utmost quality possible.
  • This is immediately recognized during use as there are no audible thumps produced. And with extremely low distortion and noise, this compressor is perfect for mixing and mastering duties.
  • The 6 attack and release times have been exactly duplicated like those of its all-tube side-chain circuit, for precise control.
  • A clean, transparent sound is possible with no artefacts or pumping. You can also create a more noticeable, heavier, and denser effect with extra harmonics if pushed harder.

  • LAT/VERT Mode (the equivalent to mid/side) gives you separate control over the center and side signals of a stereo track separately to make your songs sound wider, deeper, and more focused.
  • LAT/VERT Link mode also for mid/side processing, but this time with the two channels linked together and controlled by taking the average settings on both channels to determine what the overall control will be.

  • There is now access to the progressive ratio (DC Threshold), which is a unique curve adjustment combining control of the ratio and the knee. This is continually adjustable from hard limiting to very smooth and transparent compression.
  • Side-chain filter with four different frequencies to choose from to precisely tailor your compression (50, 100, 200, 350 Hz, and Off).

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. How much clearance will this need for proper ventilation/cooling? The project I'm working on probably won't afford much space.

A: Pyle Pro does not specify clearance for installation, other than *Use the amplifier only in well-ventilated installations. You would want to allow some airflow to keep the component from over heating. An inch on all sides should be sufficient, but use your own judgement according to your particular setup.

Q: 2. will this cord set allow me to view my photos in the camera onto a TV input for viewing?

A: Yes, the HDMI cords in this set can allow most cameras to connect to the HDMI port on a TV to video images or video footage.

Q: 3. Will this product function with wireless Bose headsets from Marshall Amps?

A: No

Q: 4. Does this device work when the air temperature is over 90 degrees, like an outdoor concert in the summer?

A: The recommended operating temperature for the Denon DN-200BR Stereo Bluetooth Audio Receiver is 41 to 95°F. It is not recommended for use when the environmental temperature is above 95°F or below 41°F.

Q: 5. Can you change the weight of the tone arm?

A: According to the Manual, this turntable unfortunately does not provide any Tone Arm Weight Adjustment. https://www.audio-technica.com/media/wysiwyg/product/pdfs/us/at_lp60x_um_162501370_v2_en_web_190502.pdf

Q: 6. If I use 2 of these units for different rooms in the same building (funeral home with different viewing rooms) are they unique as far as ID?

A: No. But if you are concerned about them interfering with each other; Bluetooth signal cannot communicate through walls or floors.

Q: 7. I want to understand pairing with this. Most Bluetooth devices can have multiple devices paired to it and some allow multiple devices to be connected and some only one to be connected. But even the ones that only allow one device to be connected allow multiple to be paired. So, if 1 and 2 are paired, then 2 can't connect while 1 is connected but it can connect as soon as 1 disconnects. If I am reading this correctly only one device can be paired. So for 2 to connect, 1 would have to disconnect and unpair and then 2 would have to pair and connect. Then for 1 to reconnect, 2 would have to disconnect and unpair, 1 would have to pair and then connect. Do I have this correct?

A: You've got it.

Q: 8. Can the antenna be disconnected and attached to an extension cable to mount out side of rack enclosure ?

A: Hi, thanks for asking! No, the antenna is not detachable.

Q: 9. Does it come with a power supply?

A: Sure does you just need audio cables.

Q: 10. I see the outputs are stereo L&R. I only have one available channel strip on my mixer. Will a “Y” cable work to sum both L&R to a mono input to my mixer?

A: You should use a device that sums stereo to mono (a Y-cable is good for splitting audio, but not for combining it). A Radial Engineering StageBug SB-2 would be good for this, using a dual-1/4" unbalanced cable. It would give you an XLR output for your mixer.

[Black] Great front panel layout. Perfect sound.
If you need a compressor this will do just fine.

[120 dB] I can now perform at a higher level thanks to this equalizer. It performs comparably to more expensive equalizers.

[AC Input] If you are in a situation where you need inline stereo volume control this is the only unit worth considering. Build quality is a straight 10 of 10, audio signal path is completely pure and the chicken head knob gives it a tactile, classic feel. This is one of the best units I have ever used for volume control. The signal path is pure, the stepped volume adjustment ensures your LR signals are ALWAYS attenuated the same and introduces NO distortion. Forget about scratchy wiper pots, forget about wobbly knobs, no need for a clunky wall wart power supply just a volume knob when and where you need it. the Mute/Dim/Mono features are great editions to the unit as well.

[200 W] I don't think one can beat this compressor, especially at this price. The designers aced the features and engineering created a product that does its job quietly, smoothly and highly effectively. The output gain control is great for restoring any overall signal level lost during compression. You can't go wrong with the RNC1773. Kudos too, to B & H: Customer service was able to add some cables effortlessly after my order was placed and before shipping.

[<-82 dBu] I use the equalizer almost on a daily basis. The matching is superb and easily transforms into top quality sound. It's design, knobs and general feel is excellent. The B&H technical specs and description are accurate and complete. There is no aspect to be improved; it is a sturdy equipment.

[Black] This compressor punches way above its weight (considering the cost). Great unit for subtle, clean compression. I use mine to ‘glue together’ the final mix in Really Nice mode.

[120 dB] I've considered getting one of these ever since hearing one in my friend's home studio almost 20 years ago. Glad I did-it's a small, lightweight and powerful addition to my guitar rack rig. Preserves high frequency sparkle and source tone nicely. Other high end compressors may add more personality and warmth but if you seek transparent performance without becoming thin, this may be your answer.
