Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Does this version have the locking (screw-on) 3.5mm jack? Such as for a Sennheiser G3, or DR-10L?

A: No, this microphone has a non-locking 3.5mm TRS connector for use with a recorder, camera or a device with a standard mic input. We do offer the omnidirectional Microphone Madness Lavalier Mic for Select Sennheiser Systems in black (B&H # MIPSMLSRBL) or beige (B&H # MIPSMLSRBE) as a special order item. We do have a selection of other mics that are compatible with Sennheiser transmitters and the DR-10L. Please feel free to contact us through live chat or by phone if you would like further assistance. You can reach us by phone at 800-606-6969 or 212-444-6615.

Q: 2. Is this okay for musical vocal recording?

A: Yes, the AKG Lyra Multipattern USB Condenser Microphone is a good quality mic that can be used for recording vocals and making music, and the AKG K371 Over-Ear Oval Closed-Back Studio Headphones are designed for monitoring audio while recording and mixing.

Q: 3. What is this?

A: A handheld mic

Q: 4. Will this microphone pair function as a line input on a Zoom H1n to record 2 people?

A: The Polsen MO-IDL2-MK2 Dual Omnidirectional Lavalier Microphone is intended for use with smartphones and cameras. Because of the mic's 3.5mm TRRS connector, it may not function properly with the input on the Zoom H1n Portable Handy Recorder and may require the use of an adapter such as the RODE SC3 3.5mm TRRS Female to 3.5mm Right-Angle TRS Male Adapter Cable (B&H # ROSC3) to convert the plug from TRRS to TRS. As a better option for the H1n, you can use the Polsen OLM-20 Dual Omnidirectional Lavalier Microphone (B&H # POOLM20), which is intended for this purchase.

Q: 5. I want to hook this up to a desktop base station to communicate via FSR/GMSR. The mic connection to my desktop radio is 2.5mm (female) stereo. Could I use a 2.5mm to 3.5mm adapter (4 conductor), and then pair that to a 4-pole 3.5mm male to AV 4 pin screw solderless shield connection? Of course, apply heatshrink over the solderless shield to reduce chance of corrosion and better secure the bond.

A: This mic was not designed to be connected to that style of mic connection, and any attempt to connect multiple adapters can not be guaranteed to work. With relay contacts and possible impedance mismatches being potential issues, I would not recommend it.

Q: 6. I use a Microphone Madness MM-MSLM Omnidirectional MatchStick Lapel Microphone (Black) with the Zoom H1N. Are there any adapters that I should have between the two or can the mic just plug into the recorder?

A: You don't need any adapters. It's a 3.5mm mic in on the H1 and a 3.5mm on the lav's connector. All you have to do is plug it in.

Q: 7. can I plug this into a Sennheiser transmitter?

A: No, unfortunately not. The Polsen MO-IDL2-MK2 Dual Omnidirectional Lavalier Microphone has a 3.5mm TRRS connector that is not compatible for use with the 3.5mm TRS locking input on a Sennheiser transmitter. As a compatible alternative for a dual lavalier mic, you can use the Saramonic DK3A2 Dual Mini Omni Lav Mic with Locking 3.5mm for Transmitters, Recorders, Cameras, Mixers with Plug-In Power (B&H # SADK3A2).

Q: 8. Looking at this, the Countyman B6 and the Sanken COS-11D for a documentary I'm doing for a hospital in a small African country this summer. I know the B6 and 11D are highly regarded, but given the $ and my need for 2-3 mics while paying for them out-of-pocket, I want to find the best bang-for-buck without sacrificing a lot in sound quality. My big question before trying it is, how is the self-noise and handling-noise on this unit? Thx in advance.

A: The Microphone Madness MM-MSLM is an excellent microphone for the money, relatively quiet, and not too bad on the handling noise. You may want to pick up some hush lav quieting sleeves (used with the sanken lavs) to better isolate the microphone from rustling noise. Also, please not the microphone requires power via bias voltage; 1 to 9 VDC.

Q: 9. Can it work with Zoom H5n?

A: Yes it's comparable with the Zoom H5N, however you will need a 3.5mm to XLR adapter in order make the connection into channel 1 and channel 2, you can use the adapter in the link bellow. https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/387850-REG/Rode_VXLR_VXLR_Mono_Mini_Jack.html?sts=pi&pim=Y

Q: 10. how long are cables ? 13.5 ? 10 between mics ?? people should be one on the other NO ?

A: HelloHelloFrom the 1/8 plug you have 4'-0 to a molded stop on the cable , from the stop to the microphone each cable is 10'-0 . So I the perfect world you can separate the microphones 20' but you would only be 4' off the plain. I have a 10' headphone extension cable works great! Gives me 14' to the molded stop. CheersMike

[Black] I purchased this as a replacement for a well-used and worn-out microphone. The manufacturer's part # along w/ B&H's photo allowed me to be confident that I was ordering the correct product. It worked well and B&H's price was great.

[Omnidirectional] I use them with the Rode stereo videomic X on the Panasonic eva1. I can attach the Rode stereo videomic X on top of a cheese plate in different spots & know the cables will reach without being too long or short.

[Omnidirectional] I purchased the WA451 TA3-F to XLR-M Cable by Shure, to use with a Shure FP5 battery powered receiver. With its solid connection at the XLR fitting and stress absorbing coiled cord, its perfect for quick set-up, staying out of the way and portability. On the downside; I found it a bit pricy for 1 foot of cord, but it carries every sound I make...which is the only thing of importance in my business, so I knew there would be no substitute.

[Omnidirectional] Used for recording meetings. Inconspicuous. Was concerned about installing in ceiling tile due to sound absorption of tile, but it's working fine in 20'x20' room.
