  • Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. What focal length would this be equivalent to in 6:5 anamorphic mode on the blackmagic 6k full frame?

A: If you are working with the Black Magic Cinema 6k full frame camera the lens view will remain at 65mm. If you are using the lens with the Cropped S35 sensor 6k there will be an added magnification of 1.6x.

Q: 2. Is it possible to get this with the EF mount installed instead of the PL mount? I would rather not take any risks swapping the mount myself.

A: We do not currently carry a version with the EF mount pre-installed. Swapping mounts is a relatively easy process that shouldn't take you more than five or ten minutes. Feel free to contact us over the phone or Video Chat and we can try to help walk you through any difficulties.

Q: 3. Would this fit on the Blackmagic 6k pro?

A: Yes, the BLAZAR LENS Remus 45mm T2.0 1.5x Anamorphic Lens (Canon EF, Blue Flare) is compatible with the Blackmagic design Pocket Cinema Camera 6K Pro.

Q: 4. Hello, regarding what is stamped on the 100mm Is T2.8 but everywhere even in specs is written T2. what is the correct aperture?

A: The BLAZAR LENS Remus 100mm T2.8 1.5x Anamorphic Overview is indeed T2.8, as the barrel length cannot maintain a T2 aperture like the smaller lenses in the set.

Q: 5. Will it require PL-EF adapter for Canon EOS Rebel t7, or have built-in EF mount without a protrusion that's too big?

A: This model of the Remus 65mm T2.0 Full-Frame 1.5x Anamorphic Lens (Canon EF, Blue Flare) comes natively with built in EF Mount. The Remus 65mm T2.0 Full-Frame 1.5x Anamorphic Lens (Canon EF, Blue Flare) does not require a adapter to work with EF mount bodies. Compatibility with EF-S mount DSLR body's may vary.

Q: 6. Is there a version with /i lens data possible?

A: Currently, there is no version of the BLAZAR LENS Remus 35mm T1.6 S35 1.5x Anamorphic Lens (ARRI PL, Silver Flare) that will provide /i lens data.

Q: 7. What is the PL mount clearance of these lenses?

A: The PL mount clearance of the BLAZAR LENS Remus 45/65/100mm T2.0 Full-Frame 1.5x Anamorphic 3-Lens Kit with Case (ARRI PL, Blue Flare) is approximately 15mm.

Q: 8. Does this lens work with the Canon Focus Assist system when the EF mount is attached?

A: The EF mount on this will be a Dummy EF mount (no electronics) any focus assist systems or tools that do no require lens electronics will function normally.

Q: 9. How long do they measure physically?

A: The dimensions of the BLAZAR LENS Remus 45/65/100mm kit are the following. The 45mm is 90mm in length, The 65mm is 101mm in length, and the 100mm is 110mm in length.

Q: 10. Is this compatible with the Mofage PL to L mount adapter?

A: B&H does not test compatibility of adapters with lenses. Because the BLAZAR LENS Remus 65mm T2.0 Full-Frame 1.5x Anamorphic Lens (ARRI PL, Amber Flare) has not yet been released, there has been no information made available on this subject.

[82 mm] When I saw the many video reviews and demos of the Remus Lenses and the price for a set, I knew that they were going to be my first venture into anamorphic lenses.

Although it took almost 3 months to get the set, it was well worth the wait. I recommend this model, for it's budget and it's quality build. It's really amazing.

[T22] I just received this lens set TODAY so please take this all with a grain of salt. This is also being done without shimming so there may be a little bit of blurriness that normally wouldn't be there. I added 2.39 bars to help see what an end image may look like.

I really wanted to see the differences between the Great Joy Set and the Remus. I've uploaded some photos to help people choose.

Overall I think I may go with the Remus as they seem to actually sharpen up closely to the Great Joy's when opened to 2.8T. they also seem to actually have a little more color constancy between each other (However, I did my test on a cloudy day so the sun may have played a factor).

To play to the favor of the Great Joy set they are a little cleaner and I would say might be a better set of lenses for commercial style work where as the Remus set seem to lean into the Narrative a bit more.

Hope this is a little helpful! Both sets of lenses are totally worth the money.

[ARRI PL] I’ve had many of the affordable anamorphics that are out. They were all disappointing with their pinstripe flares. Pincushion distortion, and otherwise forgettable image.

These are not that! These have the character that one looks for in more expensive lenses like the Atlas Mercury’s. And in my experience with both, the Mercury’s and now owning the Remus’ I cannot imagine spending 10x the amount for the Atlas Mercury lenses when these exist.

These were one of the best and most surprising purchases I’ve ever made.

It’s clear that China is not messing around and are coming for blood, because these are killer!

[ARRI PL] I bought a set of Viltrox anamorphic lenses, which are amazing, but I wanted something smaller and lighter for my FX6/Ronin 4D. These Blazar lenses are a lot of fun. I only have the 65 so far, which I find wide enough for most situations without having the issues in the corners that the 45 had. Waiting to try out their new ones, I just need something slightly wider and another slightly tighter. Waiting to hear what they say about the new additions.

[Silver] I've only done tests on location with these before the shoot I've been planning next week... These lenses have a dreamy, droopy, anamorphic look wide open, but I wouldn't suggest using them wide open unless you need a dreamy look. Super soft wide open. At T2.8 it gets better but T4 is where it actually gets sharp. For more context, I'm shooting on a C70, and we know that camera is on the softer side...

Aperture/Focus rings are smooth and a pleasure to use.

Focus breathing is not great, but depending on the shot your going after, it could be ok. They do some funky things when panning or handheld. I plan to use these lenses mostly locked off, on a slider, dolly, etc for nice smooth controlled shots with an artistic look.

Definitely recommend.

[Silver] This lens looks great, has interesting flares and has character up the wazoo. I love the distortion of this lens. It may be my PL mount, but the lens is a bit too soft at the moment at distances past 10 meters, and I'll have it checked out soon at a rental house with focus charts. Besides that, so amazing!

[2x] Blazar nailed this and no its not a perfect lens... but for under a grand ITS INSANE that a TINY and LIght-weight anamorphic getting you that old panavision c-d series aesthetic but you can actually own these. Are they 2x no obviously not - My Gemini is 30x18mm (rounded) and on 4 perf S35 ie larger S35 chips like my Red Gemini this Lens is a DREAM... Its definitely soft wide open as most vintage anamorphics are and has some CA and flaws but they are very organic... and although the squeeze isnt 2x the Bokeh are CLEARLY oval and the blue streaks (got the blue streak PL ) are great... I always think you need to see how SMALL they are to believe it I dont need a support on My Gemini or when using the FF on my Eos r5. I cant wait for rest have 100 and Hoping the 85 comes soon and then the 33mm FF But this one is a must if you can only buy one.

[2x] Bought these to use with various cameras to get an anamorphic feel. I really like the look. They aren’t super sharp but fairly well built for the price, have a nice character and actually give a cinematic look. Maybe not 2 x character but for the price I love them.
