Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Do you think there is too much texture for 15" headshots in this paper? Would the Fibre be a better choice?

A: It is a matter of opinion if a paper has too much texture or not so I recommend testing a smaller size first such as this 8.5x11: https://bhpho.to/474yyYQ

Q: 2. What does the C represent?

A: US C refers to the paper size. In this case 17x22

Q: 3. Is the paper grain parallel to the short side or the long side? Apparently the label is marked GS if it is short grain.

A: There is no way we can know in advance what batch we'll get from Moab, but yes if it has a GS it will mean 'short grain'. Moab cuts the paper from a roll & it depends how they slice it up. Although the paper is smooth people that want to fold the paper (i.e. for cards) would be very specific in the grain direction so the paper folds smoothly.

Q: 4. Can this paper be used in a Canon Pixma Pro 9000 Mark ii printer?

A: Your printer specs show handling paper to 1.2 thickness and the Moab description on this paper lists .41 so you should be fine. I have an Epson printer, but I looked up specs on your printer. Be sure to use the proper icc profile. If Moab offers one for your printer that is a further indication there should be no issues in your use of it.

Q: 5. Do these prints need to be sprayed with a UV lacquer protectant spray after printing, to keep them from fading?

A: If you are using archival pigment ink they should not need a UV lacquer though it cannot hurt if they will be in bright sun. If you are not using pigment inkjet a uv spray should help with longevity.

Q: 6. Is the paper short grain or long?

A: You'll probably have to work directly with B&H to get a specific grain direction for this particular paper. I've got 8 1/2 x 11 and it is grain long; another person mentioned they had 8 1/2 x 11 and it was grain short. The grain direction for this paper is listed on the back of the box as part of the lot number; you will either see a two-letter code of GS or GL within the lot number (e.g. 21055GL0218).

Q: 7. Is it long-grained or short-grained?

A: Hi Philip, Most of the Moab 13x19 (A3+) sheet sizes are Grain Short. The grain direction is indicated on the reverse side of the Moab label. Embedded within the lot number are the letters GS or GL, indicating Grain Short or Grain Long

Q: 8. Can this paper be used with an Epson R2880 printer?

A: Yes. I have done so. Very good.

Q: 9. can I use this in my laser printer?

A: It is not recommended for laser printers, nor made for them. It will work with both dye and pigment inks on an inkjet printer

Q: 10. Hi, will this roll fit on the Canon pro 4000 large format printer?

A: Yes, this roll is made for this and all other 44" Wide Format Ink Head based roll fed printers.

[Matte] Canson's Platine paper has been my paper of choice for B&W printing for years. Deep and rich blacks, wonderful tonal separation. I have not found a paper that is it's equal.

[310 gsm] The texture is very fine so you do not notice it when looking at the print. The material is totally acid free. dries perfectly. I tested a bunch of this type of paper and i liked this the best to use for my exhibitions and print sales.

[25x Sheet Paper] I love this paper, rich blacks, super detail in highlights plus economical compared to many fine art papers.

[Single] I continue to be impressed with this paper. It delivers excellent DMax, sharpness, no OBAs but still very white, and a very lovely etching surface. This paper works extremely well for both color and B&W images. It is my default paper for clients that want a print with a soft surface texture but not the heavy texture of something like Hahnemuhle Museum Etching (also a lovely paper in its own right).

[Cotton Rag] If you want a matte paper with a gentle texture that yields prints that look like the ink is in rather than on the surface this is an excellent choice. There are no OBA's, it has a white finish rather than warm white and it produces a full color range with rich blacks and whites. Highly recommended

[Matte] If you don't want reflection getting in the way and want rich shadows with great tonal range this is an excellent paper choice. My work is primarily Black and White and the images just sing on this sheet. I use the Canon imagePROGRAF PRO-1000. Although this is a sheet only printer I cut the roll down to sheets sized to 17x25.5. The printer will print this size giving me the large size print for my 3:2 images.

[Single] This Etching Rag is fantastic! With its properties of being absorbent, a thickness supreme, and a texture that only hints of being there... I have used it for inkjet printing, or as a Polaroid emulsion lift base, the quality is there.
