The 0.75" silk tweeters are ferrofluid-cooled, while the 5" Aramid fiber woven glass composite material with rubber surrounds are housed in cast aluminum frames, which offer high rigidity and optimized heat dissipation. These durable materials are made to not only deliver exceptional quality with details you may never have heard before from your favorite songs, but they are also meant to hold their shape and performance over time. Even when driven at high levels of power.

The drivers inside are nothing without well-designed cabinets to house them. The HD5 music system utilizes 0.7" thick high-resin MDF walls. This design keeps vibrations low, which rounded edges reduce high-frequency diffraction effects on the front baffles, while also adding attractive aesthetics. This all works on conjunction with tuned rear port slots to help those internal drivers fill your room with clear and balanced sound.

Ensuring that the components of the HD5 speakers are properly protected, Audioengine incorporates various protection technologies, such as output current limiting, thermal over-temperature, power on/off transient protection, and a replaceable main fuse.

  • 24-bit DAC can be used via Bluetooth or optical input to bypass TV or component DACs
  • Optical, RCA, and 3.5mm AUX inputs
  • Subwoofer output
  • Gapless core toroidal transformers for lower noise
  • Drivers are video shielded for close placement to displays and hard drives
  • Brushed metal hardware and front volume control
  • Removable neodymium magnetic grilles

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Can I use this with a PA system or mixer if I use the right cables to connect it? How far is the range?

A: Yes I have it in a Presonus RM system with a Stereo XLR to RCA cable and works great

Q: 2. Are they really wireless with no wires to the bar or a receiver? AC outlet is fine.

A: That is correct. The Sony SA-RS3S Wireless Rear Speakers are specifically meant for use with the the HT-A7000 Soundbar.

Q: 3. Are these speaker compatibly with the older samsung n450 soundbars?

A: The Samsung SWA-9200S Wireless Rear Speakers for Select Samsung Soundbars (Pair), BH # SASWA9200S, are not compatible with the Samsung HW-N450 soundbar. NOTE: The Samsung Wireless Rear Speaker Kit is available for separate purchase (Accessory model: SWA-8500S). **The wireless module requires a power cable. Rear speakers are connected to the module by cable. Soundbar Compatibility: The SWA-9200S rear speakers are compatible with the following models of Samsung soundbars: Q600A, A650, A550, A450, S60A, S61A, S50A, A55C, A60M, A45C, A50M, A40M, Q900T, Q800T, Q70T, and S60T.

A: Only 1 pair of the Sony SA-RS3S Wireless Rear Speakers can be used with a compatible soundbar.

Q: 7. The 5V-DC port looks like a micro USB, is this correct? And does it come with a power adapter or do I need to supply one?

A: You are correct it is a micro USB connector and it does come with a USB power supply and cable

Q: 8. Does this sound better than the bose bluetooth audio adapter?

A: I don't think my answer will be helpful because I connect the B1 through the toslink therefore it defaults to the DAC in my receiver. Through this connect it definitely sounds better than the Bose. However, when I was using the Bose I was connected using the RCA calbe which default to the DAC in the Bose and not my receiver. My receiver may have a better DAC than the Bose which explains the better sounds.

Q: 9. Are these compatible with Model C052 plantronics headset?

A: The Plantronics Leather Ear Cushion for SupraPlus Wireless Headsets are compatible with SupraPlus headset models CS351, CS351N, CS361, and CS361N.

Q: 10. Are they upfiring for Dolby Atmos?

A: They are front firing Surround Speakers. Unfortunately they are not meant for Dolby Atmos Purposes.

[5.0] I purchased a pair of P4s for my office. The first thing I noticed was the quality packaging and first rate finish and build quality. I'm driving them with the Audioengine N22 and using an (outdated) Luxman D-105u cd player. They blew me away out of the box. Midrange is, well, luscious. Voices are natural and timbres are correct. The high end is detailed, but not cloying. There isn't much on the bottom end, but that what subs are for. Soundstaging is outstanding, much wider than you would expect, with solid images. Bottom line - these speakers sound way better than they should for $

[MDF] I already had a pair of Edifier S2000MKII and love them. These are a bit smaller. I was pretty sure that these would not have the fullness and bass of my other pair and I was correct, but they are still pretty good. I added a 10 subwoofer to these and now it's a fantastic combination, both for music and movies.

[Yes] Excellent speakers for the price point. I paired these with my new Onkyo TX-8220 receiver and everything is coming in loud and clear. They are kind of like the Goldilocks of speakers--not too warm, not too bright, but just right.

[5.0] I bought these speakers for use as bedroom Bluetooth speakers. I like that they support a decent Bluetooth codec (aptX HD) and include a remote control at this price point. Out of the box they sounded a little flat to me so I applied an EQ curve using my phones adaptive sound, eight band graphic equalizer and after a boost to the bass and treble (with the speaker Bass and Treble dials set to 0) the speakers came alive for me. This EQ curve also helps with low volume listening. The Bass and Treble dials on the speaker didn’t seem to have much of an impact to my ears.

I eventually began to wonder how the speakers would sound once the internal crossover was activated and the speakers didn’t have to deal with the lower frequencies so I bought a cheap subwoofer at my local thrift store and plugged it in. I noticed a definite improvement in the sound and with the subwoofer connected I no longer need to limit these speakers to a near-field configuration.

I really like the simplicity and reliability of these speakers as a Bluetooth solution. They have good range, always connect promptly and it took all of five minutes to open the box and set them up. All that was needed for surprisingly nice stereo imaging was an average Android phone, the phones built in equalizer and some favorite WAV files stored on the phones MicroSD card. These speakers are highly recommended. My only quibble is that the remote feels a little cheap, but works fine.
