Designed to fit the Sony VCT-U14 quick release plate, this CAMVATE VCT-Style V-Lock Wedge Plate for Camerasfrom CAMVATE VCT-Style V-Lock Wedge Plate for Camerasfeatures a male V-lock wedge and multiple mounting threads for accessory expansion. Attach the plate to the VCT-U14 quick release for a secure connection to a tripod with a VCT-U14 adapter. Q: 1. Does this take the place of the quick release plate on a Sachtler head or does the plate mount to the bottom of this? Not real sure how this works I just know the Came-tv shoulder rig doesn't mount well to the quick release plate and I'm hoping this would solve the problem.

A: The size is 62 x 45 mm, the same as for the FSB touch & go.

Q: 5. It says it has a 44lb payload capacity, is this at 90 Degree tilt also? I'm looking to use this as an overhead rig with a RED Cine Package on a dana dolly.

A: the max load capacity reflects it;s max load capacity even at close to the 90 degree angle maximum extension, As with all thing of this nature I'd recommend you test it personally before committing you camera package to it on a shoot

Q: 7. Is this the same as the JVC KA-551U? I have two and it sure looks to be. BH #JVKA551U photo is not the same as what I have. ??

[Aluminum] I was in the market for the Sony VCT plate originally after working with it first hand on a shoot not too long ago. Of course, when I'm ready to purchase, it foes out of stock and on temporary backorder. But a good friend of mine that's also a 1st AC was like get the Axler VCT 14! Looking into it, and his setup, I kept hearing about how reliable it was despite it having a lower cost than its competition. I've seen REDs Arris, and other more expensive setups using these so I figured if it's good enough for cameras over $30K, then it'll do beyond fine for my setup. And so far so good. I really like the design and the stiffness. Not the kind of stiffness that you have to fight to get your camera on and off, but the kind that really keeps your rig in place for a long, demanding work day. I got two for easy switching between tripod and dolly and I haven't looked back. It's really good. It's not all metal though. There's a little piece in the rear around the back round clip (I don't know the technical name for it) that's definitely not metal. But it's all good and hasn't caused any problems and I don't see it causing problem in the future. Definitely recommend. 5

[Black] I have owned every VCT plate out there Shape, Zacuto, movcam, chrosziel and i've sold them all. I found them to be incredibly heavy and cumbersome. I wanted something that maintained the low height of my FS7 body when its on my shoulder. Most VCT plates sit so high on the shoulder throwing off the centre of gravity, wooden camera managed to keep the shoulder pad tight to plate eliminating this problem. It only weighs 1.3 LBS which is important when travelling with a kit. They've also ingeniously incorporated their dovetail system into the plate for easy removal of the camera. I cannot recommend this plate enough to anyone trying to keep the weight and profile down of their camera. After a few weeks of shoulder intensive shooting I can confidently say this is the best product out there. 5

[Black] I picked up a Shoulder Rig not that long ago, and this VCT Plate adapter was been perfect! TONS of mounting holes and it locks in very nicely with almost no movement (like I've seen with others) I really like that the quick release lever is large and easy to access. One older one I used, was almost impossible to reach when the camera was mounted! Overall a great Plate if you have a VCT shoulder-rig! (I received this product for my honest review) 5
