Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Will this work with tilta nucleus nano?

A: Yes, the Cool-Lux LuxGear Follow Focus Gear Ring features standard 0.8-mod/32-pitch geared teeth that makes it compatible with cine-style follow focus systems, including the Tilta Nucleus Nano.

Q: 2. Will this fit a Sigma 24-105 ?

A: It will not. The Sigma 24-105mm, BH #SI241054C, has an 88.6mm front diameter. It is too large for this gear ring. Instead you will need BH #COLG8889 which is for lenses between 88 to 89.9mm. https://bhpho.to/3bnrtEK

Q: 3. Will this fit the Zeiss Milvus ZE 85mm and 100mm?

A: The Simmod SIMple Fit Follow Focus Gear (XXL, 10mm) will work with the ZEISS Milvus 100mm f/2M ZE Macro Lens for Canon EF (BH #ZE1002MZE), but for the larger ZEISS Milvus 85mm f/1.4 ZE Lens for Canon EF (BH #ZE8514MZE) you will need the bigger Simmod SIMple Fit Follow Focus Gear (JUMBO, 10mm), BH #SISF10JUMBO.

Q: 4. Is there any way to get one of these to fit on Fujinon lenses (specifically the 16-55) with their goofy expanded bevel behind the initial ring diameter and contracted lens width inside it?

A: On unusual lenses like the Fujifilm XF 16-55mm f/2.8 R LM WR Lens B&H # FU165528, we suggest this type of lens gear since it can fit on any lenses flat service. Wide Open Camera Universal Lens Gear B&H # WILU.

Q: 5. Will this fit a Canon 17-55mm f/2.8 IS EF-S?

A: It will not. The Canon 17-55mm F/2.8 has a 83.5mm diameter. Instead you would need B&H # COLG8283 which works with lenses between 82 to 83.9mm. https://bhpho.to/2wf9Uo5

Q: 6. Will this fit the Zeiss Milvus ZE 18mm and 21mm and 25mm?

A: No, the Simmod SIMple Fit Follow Focus Gear (LG, 10mm) is too small to be used on those lenses.

Q: 7. Can the SmallRig Silicone Gear be used with the Tilta Tiltaing Pocket Follow Focus?

A: No, the SmallRig Silicone Gear is not compatible with the Tilta Tiltaing Pocket Follow Focus.

Q: 8. Which size would fit best on a mk.2 sony gm 70-200mm f2.8 lens? I have seemed to have ordered the incorrect size as i thought it went by filter diameter

A: Unfortunately Cool-Lux does not have the gear size for this lens model. Please use the following ruler to measure your lens for the correct size https://bit.ly/3a9ObVB Cool-Lux tested lens chart https://bit.ly/3N2RMDH

Q: 9. Will this work on a Sony FE 50mm 1.8?

A: Yes it will. The Sony FE 50MM 1.8, B&H # SO5018F, has an outer diameter of 68.6mm. This ring works with lenses between 68 to 69.9mm in diameter.

Q: 10. I have already made mistakes 2 times. What diameter should I use with Canon 100-400 mkII? On the widest part of focus ring.

A: I wish I could help but I have Nikon lenses myself. Best thing to do is check the specs on the canon webpage or contact canon direct to get the lens diameter.Failing that take a piece of masking tape and put it tightly around the lens barrel where the focus ring is. Take a pen or marker and put a line on the tape so it over laps the tape. Take the tape off and accurately measure the distance to get the circumference of the lens. Divide this number by Pi or 3.1416 to get your diameter of the lens.

[0.8 MOD] I love this concept for upgrading a simple focus ring to something geared for professional use. Its very simple idea and I hate the look of the strap-on gears with giant bolt on top-- it gets in the way. This product is well constructed and works perfectly with standard follow focus systems.  Just be sure to measure it properly -- best to be one degree under your measurement. So if your lens is 72mm -- get the one below -- otherwise it doesnt fit snug on the lens.

[0.225 lb] Super easy install, I just followed the included instructions and it is now very snugly fit onto my lens with no slipping. Would definitely consider purchasing another in the future.

[Aluminum] I bought a whole set of manual focus Nikkor primes. These focus gear rings fit perfect. They will work great with my whole camera support system.

[0.8 MOD] Not much to say except that it works as advertised.

[0.225 lb] Just what's needed for smaller lenses, and for some of the DSLR rig 15mm Rod Base Plates that - including Quick-Release plate added heights - have trouble reaching the lends. When it comes to these sorts of DLSR cages and rigs (and in this case manual focus pullers) SmallRig and Tilta are neck-to-neck in their innovations. SmallRig's Mini Follow Focus is really a fantastic and versatile focus puller for the money. I suppose I'll have to wait 2 months before their PRO version comes out and offers reversible gear positions? Oh well. As it is, this is a best-in-class budget focus puller. They do not seem to sell the accessories like whips and crank handles however? That is s shame?

[0.8 MOD] It's an amazing follow focus. Haven't encountered a smoother action. It is expensive but worth it in the long run, having dealt with cheap to mid priced FF. This will last a lifetime.

[0.8 MOD] These work really well on Takumar lenses. Especially the 20mm width ones are nice. The extra width requires less focus motor repositioning. Also nice feel for pulling focus by hand.

Also tried Tilta lens rings (as so cheap), but the focus motor just keeps skipping even during calibration... Simmod is the way to go.

[58 to 61 mm] I own 5 of these and they are all worth every penny. I have some tilta rubber ones that are inexpensive and get the job done...However, these simmod focus gears are superior and I love that they come with different rubber inner rings for a variety of fits.
