Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Is this the proper one for the Olympus 12-40 2.8 pro?

A: The Olympus lens has a sizing of 69.9 which will be able to work with that follow focus ring.

Q: 2. Sir , I have 3 lens include Canon 1635mm , Canon 24105mm and Sigma 70200. I want to ask which 3 focus ring of your products are suitable for my lens ? Thank you.

A: This is from the Cool-Lux website. No listing for Sigma.16-35 f/2.8L (focus ring) LG7677 76.2 16-35 f/2.8L (zoom ring) LG7273 72.224-105 f/4L (focus ring) LG8283 82.2 24-105 f/4L (zoom ring) LG7879 78.6

Q: 3. Is there any way to get one of these to fit on Fujinon lenses (specifically the 16-55) with their goofy expanded bevel behind the initial ring diameter and contracted lens width inside it?

A: On unusual lenses like the Fujifilm XF 16-55mm f/2.8 R LM WR Lens B&H # FU165528, we suggest this type of lens gear since it can fit on any lenses flat service. Wide Open Camera Universal Lens Gear B&H # WILU.

Q: 4. What size should I purchase for the Sigma 10-20mm f/3.5 lens?

A: Thanks! I realized I can just measure the circumference and divide it by 3.14 (pi) and it comes out to 76.75mm so I actually answered my own questions. It's the (76 to 77.9mm) version.

Q: 5. I have already made mistakes 2 times. What diameter should I use with Canon 100-400 mkII? On the widest part of focus ring.

A: I wish I could help but I have Nikon lenses myself. Best thing to do is check the specs on the canon webpage or contact canon direct to get the lens diameter.Failing that take a piece of masking tape and put it tightly around the lens barrel where the focus ring is. Take a pen or marker and put a line on the tape so it over laps the tape. Take the tape off and accurately measure the distance to get the circumference of the lens. Divide this number by Pi or 3.1416 to get your diameter of the lens.

Q: 6. What size do I purchase for use with the Voigtlander Nokton 25mm f/0.95 Type II Lens?

A: Please go to this web page and print out this template to determine the diameter of the lens and the matching size LuxGear. http://bit.ly/2phHhl7

Q: 7. Will this ring fit the focus ring on a canon 100-400 L IS ii? I realize the outer focus ring diameter is 94mm… but after measuring with the Cool Lux Gear sizing key (paper print out), the inner diameter of the focus ring falls in the 90 to 91.9mm zone. Would it possibiy work?

A: We do not recommend using this ring as it may be too small for the lens.

Q: 8. Is the rubber strong enough to resist the torque of a Title Nucleus motor? (Title rings are not strong enough even if they are 0.8)

A: The Cool-Lux LuxGear gear rings are designed to be compatible with all standard follow focus motors.

Q: 9. Will this fit the Tokina 11-16 atx-i 11-16 f2.8 CF lens for Canon EF?

A: 123

Q: 10. Don’t see the Sigma 28-70 E mount listed. Which one would fit it?

A: Unfortunately , there are many untested lens models. However, Cool Lux offers a printable Luxgear ruler to measure lenses that are not on the tested list. RULER: https://bit.ly/3UvXRzb

[0.8 MOD] I love this concept for upgrading a simple focus ring to something geared for professional use. Its very simple idea and I hate the look of the strap-on gears with giant bolt on top-- it gets in the way. This product is well constructed and works perfectly with standard follow focus systems.  Just be sure to measure it properly -- best to be one degree under your measurement. So if your lens is 72mm -- get the one below -- otherwise it doesnt fit snug on the lens.

[78 to 83 mm] Much better than the zip tie kind, as this leaves no overhang and allows 360 rotation.

[Aluminum] I own 5 of these. They are professional focus gears and get the job done.

[Aluminum] It's an amazing follow focus. Haven't encountered a smoother action. It is expensive but worth it in the long run, having dealt with cheap to mid priced FF. This will last a lifetime.

[0.8 MOD] These work really well on Takumar lenses. Especially the 20mm width ones are nice. The extra width requires less focus motor repositioning. Also nice feel for pulling focus by hand.

Also tried Tilta lens rings (as so cheap), but the focus motor just keeps skipping even during calibration... Simmod is the way to go.

[0.29 lb] If you use a caliper to measure your focus ring, these gears fit perfectly and they are rock solid. They do not loosen or waiver. I have purchased a bunch of them and they serve me well. I use them on Edelkrone focus modules and crane 3 focus/zoom units and I am very satisfied.
