Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Is there space to hold 2 mic clips?

A: You may be able to fit small mic clips in the pocket of the K-Tek Stingray Microphone Case for Two Short Shotgun Mics. The interior of the case is 6.75 x 2.4" and the diameter of a shotgun microphone is approximately 0.83 to 0.87" (21 to 22mm).

Q: 2. Is the foam glued inside or can I take it out?

A: The interior foam padding of the Alfa Case 18.5" MicTube Shotgun Microphone Case, Large (BH # AL20018MTLB) is tack glued.

Q: 3. Is this compatible with a Sennheiser MKH 8060 with no filter modules?

A: Hi Tony. Yes, that's the one to go for for 8060 + MZX (no MZF filter module). MF.

Q: 4. Can I use this with a Rode NTG5?

A: Yes, the Rycote 12cm Super-Softie is compatible for use with a Rode NTG5 microphone.

Q: 5. It's compatible whit Deity S mic 2s?

A: No. The Rycote 033202 Super Softie Windshield for Shotgun Mic (5.9" Long, 0.7 to 0.9" Diameter) is too long for use with the Deity S-Mic 2S Short Shotgun Microphone. The S-Mic 2S is 5.83" (148mm) long and the inside depth of the windshield is 5.9" (150mm) long, so which is longer than the length of the microphone. The Rycote 033201 Super Softie Windshield for Shotgun Mic (4.7" Long, 0.7 to 0.9" Diameter) [B&H # RYSS12M] would be a better option. The inside depth of this windshield is 4.7" (120mm).

Q: 6. Is there any difference between this and LastoLite?

A: If you are comparing the Lastolite Skylite Rapid Extra Large Kit (10 x 10'), B&H # LALR83344R, to the Manfrotto Extra Large Pro Scrim All-in-One Kit (9.5 x 9.5') listed above, the Lastolite kit would be slightly larger in size. The Manfrotto kit would include two (2) grip heads and two (2) ears which would allow you to connect the scrim to light stands, whereas these accessories would need to be purchased separately to connect the Lastolite scrim to a light stand.

Q: 7. Can i use this with DPA4017B ?

A: Better to use this longer version: Rycote Super Softie Windshield for Shotgun Mic (5.9" Long, 0.7 to 0.9" Diameter) B&H # RYSS15M DPA Microphones 4017B Shotgun Microphone B&H # DP4017B Dimensions ø: 0.75 x L: 8.35" / ø: 19 x L: 212 mm

Q: 8. how to assemble extra large lite dome?

A: This litedome was a bit challenging to assemble. Make sure you ordered the correct assembly for your strobe brand (purchase separately). First snap the medal rods together and insert the rods in the corners of the softbox skin , insert the square peice of cloth inside softbox. second unvelcro the corner ends of the softbox (I didnt figure this out until I was done). Third insert the rods in the holes of the strobe assembly, close velcro corners .

Q: 9. Can Sennheiser MKE 600 fit in this?

A: Hi there,It's not our official recommendation; however, you should (just about) be able to get away with an MKE 600 in the Super-Shield, Medium, since it's only 6mm over our recommended length. We would still recommend the Large, though! If in doubt, it might be an idea to bring the mic along to a dealer and try it inside the Medium, since everyone's needs are different.

Q: 10. Are Super softies made for 18" microphone like Audio Technica AT8015 ?

A: This Rycote 18cm Super-Softie Wind Shield for Shotgun Mics (Standard Hole) is only rated for mics up to 7" in length and 0.748 to 0.87" in diameter.

[Black] Works great on wind and is so fast to deploy and light weight. Love it.

[Foam] The Bubblebee Windshield w/ short fur worked fabulously with my Cmit 5u. I took it on job in the woods & it canceled the breeze completely. It did not muffle whispering dialog at all (actually seemed to enhance it). I thought the price was more than reasonable compared to competitors price. Strongly recommend!

[0.03 lb] The Electro-Voice foam screen is too large when using the RE20 on a shock mount. This is a shorter windscreen that does the trick.

[0.03 lb] Last day of shooting on a short film today (Saturday) and I saw on Thursday that we were going to get a lot of wind, and boy did we! Fortunately I bought this and paid the $15ish for expedited delivery and it arrived Friday morning.

We had some pretty powerful gusts, but this thing did a great job of dealing with that. Of course you can still hear the wind on the trees, crops, etc. but I'm not hearing much that's effecting the mic itself. Still able to record dialog just fine. DaVinci Resolve's vocal isolation feature is doing quite a bit to help clear the background noise out, but without this cover I doubt there would have been much dialog for the program to be able to isolate.

[1] This product does what is designed to do. It blocks out wind noise. I have never had a problem with wind noise since I started using it. It is very durable and has a high quality feel to it.

[1] I live in a VERY windy area. It makes recording outside VERY difficult. I recently used this when I SHOULD NOT have been outside (Southern California high winds) and I just figured the clips were going to be useless because of the wind. But it really knocked out the wind noise (sure you can still hear it BUT you could hear me). So this coupled with a Deity V-Mic D3 worked VERY well! This was all attached to a GH5.

[1] I started doing a number of exterior interviews and was relying solely on lavs placed inside shirts. That was successful. But I was hanging a shotgun mike as well and had wind noise with even the slightest breeze.

Bought the Bubblebee unit and looked at a weather app to see which day that week was the windiest. Went to my local park on that day where breezes come up the hill briskly from the Hudson River. In 20 mph wind there was absolutely no problem. Clean sound.

[Black] Found out on a Thursday that my Saturday shoot to wrap up a short film was going to be super windy. So I paid the extra $15ish for overnight shipping and got it before noon the next day. Worked great for the conditions we were in. DaVinci's vocal isolation helped get rid of the sound we picked up of the trees, crops, etc. but thanks to this baby we were able to pick up all the dialog we needed to get without any issues.
