[Canon RF] Lens provides fantastic handling, the images are sharp with amazing separation, and the close focus is great! For the price this thing is faultless.

[Manual Focus] I am a Retired Senior amateur photograph using an Olympus OMD EM 5 Mark III camera. I had recently purchased a TTArtisan 35mm 1.4 lens and was so impressed with it in performance, color, bokeh, sharpness that I had to try the 23mm as well. Both perform outstandingly well and are a joy to use. How lenses of this quality can be sold at such low prices is beyond my understanding but I am tickled that I can get such outstanding images with them.
Being both manual focus lenses, they offer the opportunity to slow down and take you time getting the image right. I use focus peaking and magnification to get fine tuned sharp images. I just finished doing Portraits for a Sit with Santa and set the 35mm at f2.5 and all turned out exceptional. You can get very close with this lens and the bokeh is very pleasing. A great buy for new photographers wanting to try out prime lenses and manual focus. Highly recommended !

[Full-Frame] For the price, just can’t beat it. Has a softer, filmic look to it.

[Manual Focus] Mounted on my old Sony Nex-3N and it works in manual mode. Camera has good manual focus assist and first 10+ shots are in focus and sharp. Lens is solid with metal construction, focus ring is smooth, great price for F1.4 lens.

[49 mm (Front)] I was on the fence on whether or not I wanted to keep my Leica M10 and it all came down to whether or not I was going to like this Thypoch 50mm f1.4. After using the lens, I decided to keep it all! Build quality is nice and it's not too heavy for being a full metal lens! Love that it comes with a nice lens hood, or just a circular metal cap if I choose not to use the hood. I've used the new leica summilux 50 1.4 and although great, I felt so much guilt for the price I paid! This lens is a fraction of the price and the quality IMO, is just as nice if not better!

[14] After getting used to the somewhat-controversial ergonomics of this lens, I can say for sure that the image quality produced by this lens keeps me coming back to it. The balance between bokeh and sharpness is perfect, and it has that pop.

The only weakness of this lens (in my opinion) is the size and weight. It seems that 28/1.4 is not going to make for a small lens, unless compromises, and this is as good as it's going to get. But the only smaller lens with similarly enviable image quality is probably the Leica 28/2 Asph, which costs about 7x as much at the time of writing, and is just a different character of rendering altogether. I think the Thypoch 28/1.4 a no-brainer for M-mount users.

[f/1.4] A short addition to my previous review. I just began shooting a short film, and this lens is absolutely incredible for cinematography as well!!!!

[f/16] This lens is beautiful looking and has exquisite build quality. It has a metal hood can slide on cap that are nice touches for a low cost lens. The aperture ring is fluid and clicks nicely into place. The lock at infinity isn’t that helpful for me but may be for others. Optically this lens isn’t perfect like the Leica glass. However, the photos have a ton of feel and style to them that I prefer this one to my Zeiss and the Leica 28mm that I rented. The price is exceptional for what you get with the lens, too. Super happy with it. The only downside I see is that it’s a bit large for a 28mm, but it’s not really an issue for me, but I mention it anyway for those who value compact primes for street.

[f/1.4] I bought a used copy, arrived in amazing condition just as advertised by B&H. I can't quit buying lenses from Ttartisan. Vintage nostalgia meets modern quality every time. I keep coming back to them over much more expensive glass because they produce photos that feel authentic and almost magic. If you are looking for incredibly sharp or soft and dreamy this lens gives you both and everything in between. It is almost exactly a standard 35mm on aps-c, and I couldn't love it more. If you lobe the art of photography you have nothing to lose at this price. You won't be disappointed.
