Sporting the same warm, silky sonic character that made the NT1 series a go-to studio workhorse for millions, the purple NT1 Signature Series Studio Condenser Microphone from RODE is the latest edition of the iconic large-diaphragm mic. With an incredibly low self-noise of 4 dBA and a high SPL handling of 142 dB, the NT1 Signature Series is a versatile Swiss Army knife built to deliver a classic studio sound for a range of applications, from vocal and instrument recording to podcasting, content creation, and voice-over work.

The classic RODE HF6 1" true condenser capsule brings a smooth frequency response and high sensitivity to the table. The internal JFET impedance converter and bipolar output buffer help contribute to the low noise and clean sound. The cardioid pickup pattern helps you avoid unwanted sounds to the rear and sides, a vital feature for podcasting and content creation in untreated spaces. The finish is highly durable, resisting scuffs, scratches, and other physical blemishes that can plague well-used workhorse mics. The NT1 Signature Series includes a 20' XLR cable, an SM6 shockmount and pop filter, and a dust cover.

  • Behind the protective mesh grille, the mic features Rode's 1" gold-sputtered HF6 capsule, designed to provide a detailed midrange response with smooth highs and warm bass
  • The cardioid polar pattern focuses audio capture on the source in front of the mic, picking up less unwanted ambient sound from the back and sides
  • The transducer itself is suspended inside the microphone, using Rycote's industry-leading Lyre system, minimizing external vibrations at the capsule level The capsule is then married to high-grade electronics that have been designed to provide an extremely low noise level. The NT1 Signature Series is an incredibly quiet microphone, measuring only 4 dBA of self-noise
  • The mic is powered by phantom power through the XLR connector

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. I have the Boompole and through use the threaded insert has been damaged, is it replaceable?

A: Yes, it can. I had the same problem. Contact Rode directly and they will send you a replacement part.

Q: 2. Would this work on a NTG 4+ Shotgun Mic --?

A: Yes. However, this does not come with a shock mount, which is necessary for mounting any shotgun mic to a boom pole. They can be purchased elsewhere on the website for cheap (there are likely some in the accessories section).

Q: 3. rode boompole handling area has a padding can anyone tell me what kinda material is it? have an old one i knew what kinda material it is mayb i cud chk out at some upholstery

A: I can't tell you exactly what it is but would describe it as a dense, thin foam.

Q: 4. Can I use this pole with the NTG4+? If not what rode pole would be the best fit?

A: You should be able to use it fine, I use a similar mic with the Rode blimp and pole and it holds it fine, even at max extension. The pole is really sturdy.

Q: 5. When I extend the first section, largest one, I can't get it to lock. The ring keeps spinning. What do I do?

A: We apologise for the inconvienience. Please follow this link for an exchange. https://www.bhphotovideo.com/find/HelpCenter/ReturnExchange.jsp?origSearch=returns

Q: 6. Can i use this with Rode NTG ?

A: Yes, the Rode Boompole for Rode NTG1, NTG2 and Video Mic (10') is a great pairing for use with Rode's NTG line of shotgun microphones along with an appropriate shock mount that matches the form factor of the specific mic and mounts to the pole.

Q: 7. Can this be attached to a light stand or any other kind of stand?

A: Yes, the Rode Boompole can be attached to a light stand by using a boompole holder and grip head such as the Auray Boompole Holder and Grip Head Kit (B&H # GBBPHK). For other stands like microphone stands and photo/video tripods, you can use adapters or a super clamp that is rated to support the weight.

Q: 8. I have the Video Mic Pro. Is it compatible with this boompole?

A: Yes, they are compatible.

Q: 9. Is the handle section of this boom pole padded?

A: Very Good

Q: 10. What is the Signal to Noise Ratio?

A: The RODE NT1 Signature Series Large-Diaphragm Condenser Microphone's SNR is 90 dB A-Weighted.

[Phantom Power] A very nice mic. I am not an audiophile but this mic sounds excellent to me. Very low noise and a very high peaking threshold. Outstanding build quality if a bit heavy. Love it.

[Solid-State] What can I say, it’s a Rode. There’s a reason why the NT-1 is one of the biggest selling microphones. The sound quality is superb. The cool colors are perfect for my daughter’s podcast. Really stands out. Great value for the money. Comes with everything you need. Great for vocals or whatever you put in in front of. Dry low self noise so you can compress it not expect noise. For the price, add one to your mic locker…you won’t be disappointed.

[Cardioid] Rode delivers with the NT3, crisp clear audio with low noise. I use it for recording DSLR dialogue and the cardioid pattern means I don't have to be super critical with aiming it. I use Neutrik connectors which do lock into the NT3, just give them a push, for a secure XLR connection. I mount it into an Audio Technica AT8415 shock mount, if it slips a bit in the vertical, I wrap a rubber band around the mic shaft to offer some purchase to the shock mount bands, keeps it secure. 4 stars due to weight, 5 stars for sound.

[Mono] Many write reviews beginning with I am not an audiophile. Well, in a way I am an audiophile. I have created hundreds of videos for YouTube and many more hundreds of audio devotionals, along with many more hundreds of Bible studies my wife and I have done. I know what my voice sounds like, and I know which mics make it sound better and which do not. I have used many different mics. Some mics will never sound great no matter how much you try to EQ them. Others can sound great with some significant EQing. But the ideal mic sounds awesome with no EQing. And that is precisely the case with this mic. It has been called silky smooth, and that is a pretty fair assessment. There is absolutely no point for me to EQ this mic. The sound is nearly perfect on its own.

Some suggest that a condenser mic like this is only of use in a perfectly treated room. Not true. As long as you keep it within about 3-5 inches from your mouth, it will probably work very well in almost any room (but don't use it in your bathroom!). To sum up, this is the mic I have been looking for, for years. My search is over.

[Phantom Power] This microphone sounds great for this price point. I use as a boom mic for interviews with Nikon D7000 and a Tascam DR-60D.

[Mono] Really enjoy the sound of this mic, upgrading from a cheap dynamic mic, this one has improved the quality of my vocals (for music) by a lot. The shock mount and pop filter are well made and easily adjusted. Green color looks great in person as well!

[Phantom Power] If you are looking for a balance between good vocal recording and affordable price, here you are! Buy this thing and don't think twice...

[Purple] Purchased in 1999 this mic still works after all these years. It didn't get much use, as I only used it to record acoustic guitar. Nevertheless, it can do a lot more than just acoustic recording. Build quality is great, sound is excellent, a wide dynamic range, and frequency response. With small condensers mic placement is critical, and the NT3 is a lot more forgiving than my AKG C1000s.

[Purple] I got this mic to interview a friends pre-wedding interview in our home. I'm a novice by audio standards but I must say I was very delighted in the sound quality this mic provided. Was also glad it uses 9V battery or phantom power.
