Building on a long history of successful Signature Series releases, Bowers & Wilkins have brought to bear their extreme attention to detail and unbridled creativity to upgrade the HTM71 S3 center channel loudspeaker. The following list are the improvements and unique features you'll enjoy by selecting an HTM71 S3 Signature:

  • Tweeter grilles trimmed with a gold-colored diamond-cut bezel, and a more open mesh design that is normally found in the B&W 800 Series Signature line
  • A cabinet with multiple coatings of paint and lacquer for a rich an lustrous finish, along with metal components finished in a satin black
  • New Mundorf EVO Silver Gold Oil capacitor with Angelique wire lead-outs for improved mid and high frequencies
  • New Bevenbi MPAZ-E polypropylene capacitors with zinc foil for enhanced mid frequencies
  • New air-core inductors of low-frequency drive units
  • Upgraded poles on mid- and low-frequency motor systems with larger venting and lower inductance
  • New brass speaker terminal posts for cleaner signal paths
  • Bypass capacitors reconfigured and located in series with each other and each board

The 1" decoupled carbon dome tweeter is featured in a tweeter-on-top design, housed in a frame that's been milled from a single block of aluminum for better resistance to resonance. With the HTM71 S3, the tweeter now utilizes a carbon dome, which raises the breakup threshold to 47 kHz, further improving the accuracy of higher frequencies.

The 6" midrange driver incorporates a composite construction that does not hinder the speaker's performance. Four Bowers & Wilkins technologies are employed to ensure clean and neutral vocals and instrument representation, without interference from the woofers. The four technologies used are a Continuum cone, FST, biomimetic suspension, and midrange decoupling.

  • Supports up to 200W of amplified power
  • Dual connections support bi-wired setup
  • Variable thickness woofers for improved rigidity
  • Flowport

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Does this slider require the motor and belt to be taken off the slider in order to put it in the case?

A: Yes, it does require for product to be in proper slots.

Q: 2. Can I hook this to a radio instead of an amplifier? I have several speakers ran throughout my house and my radio has the output but I do not have an amp - just wondering if i will need an amplifier?

A: I hooked this unit up to the B speaker output of an older model Kenwood receiver. Unfortunately, the volume output was extremely low and I had to return the item. You should try the radio first but don't be surprised if you need an additional amplifier.

Q: 3. Can I use this on a Sirui T-25SK T-0S Series Travel Tripod?

A: Yes you can use the Manfrotto 490 Center Ball Head on the Sirui T-005SK T-0S Series Travel Tripod.

Q: 4. Does this unit actually increase the volume or is the volume max based upon the max watts input from the receiver?

A: The PSPVC6 does not increase volume; so maximum gain would be based on your amplifier's wattage.

Q: 5. We have these speakers but we'd like to mount them on the wall, can you recommend a mounting system?

A: After research, it has a 1/4 20 UNC Threaded insert and a weight of 8 kg (17.64 lbs). The Peerless-AV SPK811 Wall Mount has the compatible threading and will support speakers up to 20 lbs. https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/338439-REG/Peerless_Industries_SPK811_SPK811_Universal_Speaker_Mount.html/specs

Q: 6. What is the maximum camera and lens weight the slider can handle to operate smoothly?

A: The Konova P1 Carbon Slider with KMS-S3 Wireless Motorized System has a support weight of up to 17lb payload weight to operate. You would want to be under this weight to have it run smoothly. horizontal payload: 8kg (17lbs), diagonal payload: 3kg (6.6lbs), vertical payload: 1kg (2.2lbs).

Q: 7. what amp works best?

A: Hi, Thank you for reaching out. Onkyo TX-NR515 AV amp, surround sound. The B channel, is stereo, this feeds the Pyle PSPVC6. I have all six pairs of speakers, independently volume controlled. Works Great

Q: 8. Can you mount this slider directly in the middle of the slider to a tripod?

A: No you can not mount this motorized slider on a tripod

Q: 9. I have an Oben travel tripod. Can I replace the quick release head on it with this MH490-BH to work with my other Manfrotto quick release plates?

A: Yes, if you can remove the head on your present tripod, you will be able to mount the Manfrotto 490 Center Ball Head in its place.

Q: 10. What size are the carbon fiber tubes?

A: Unfortunately, the manufacturer does not publish that specification publicly and we are unable to verify since we do not have access to the product in our warehouse and it is not currently on display in our superstore.

[Yes] Unbelievably easy and clever install. Once holes cut, it’s maybe five minutes per speaker and you are done.
Sound is very nice. Speakers are very efficient so don’t need a lot of wattage from your amp. Being able to adjust tweeter orientation also a helpful feature.

[89 dB] I have a pair of B&W 606 S2 speakers that I absolutely loved for hi fi stereo listening. Been happy for years but recently decided to try the 706 S3 because I always wondered why the 706 cost more than $1000 more than the 606. After 30 seconds, I know why. The midrange and highs from the 706 is silky smooth and depending on the material, the sound stage is deep. Sometimes I think the instruments and the singer(s) is in the same room! It's that good. I am driving these speakers with a McIntosh MC275 and boy does it sound good. Also the fit and finish of the cabinet is much higher than on the 606 series which might matter to some people. For me it's the exceptional and accurate reproduction of musical instruments and vocals that matter most to me.

[8 Ohms] Previous versions had very poor connectivity. So far this one has worked great. All I use is Airplay. And it has the sound one would expect from B&W. It is able to fill a big, two-story living room with sound.
