Q: 1. I would like to get 4 of these cameras controlled by a RM-IP500/1 controller via cat 6 through visca 422 and video out via sdi. (like it shows in the manual) but the RM-IP500/1 says it "provides control of Sony BRC-X1000/1, BRC-H800/1, BRC-H900 and SRG-360SHE PTZ cameras." Can I use the RM-IP500/1 to control the srg-x400 cameras or not?

A: The Sony RM-IP500/1 Professional Remote Controller (BH #SORMIP5001 • MFR #RM-IP500/1) can control SRG-X400's. Please refer to the "Compatibility" tab on the item page of the RM-IP500 for a more complete list of compatible cameras.

Q: 2. Does the camera come with an IR controller? Does it have presets on the IR controller?

A: The Sony SRG-X120 comes with a Infrared Remote Commander. Page 11 explains the functions of the IR Remote Commander: https://www.bhphotovideo.com/lit_files/615258.pdf

Q: 3. Will I be able to get a good close-up shot on a subject 80 feet away with this camera?

A: from that distance you can get a medium shot (half the body) it can not get close enough for a close up (head and shoulders)

Q: 4. What is field of view at max zoom?

A: The horizontal field of view for the Sony SRG-X120 at 52.8mm is 8.86°.

Q: 5. Does this camera have presets?

A: Presets are something that will be available on the remote controller you are using with this camera. The IR Remote Commander offers a few preset spots, while Sony RM-IP500/1 will offer a lot more preset options. https://bhpho.to/3kYQpI3

Q: 6. What controller can I use for this camera?

A: You can use Sony controllers or on the third party - less expensive front, this Lumens model will work: https://bhpho.to/35UAfu8

Q: 7. How do you upgrade this camera to 4k?

A: You will need the Sony SRGL-4K 4K License for SRG-X400 and SRG-X120 PTZ Cameras. https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1554732-REG/sony_srgl_4k_4k_opt_license_for.html

Q: 8. Can the image be flipped (mirrored) horizontally?

A: This can flip and image vertically for mounting on a ceiling. It does not list a horizontal flip function.

Q: 9. What's the rtsp link for this cam? Anyone using rtsp to pull video/audio?

A: RTSP can be the camera address or a different IP after modification after logging into http://192.168.0.100. See page 93 in the web link below. https://bhpho.to/3toHG8C

Q: 10. How much will the 4K and NDI licenses sell for?

[PoE 802.3af] As another reviewer stated, the CV620 outperforms the 620IP in every way with regard to movement. The pan, tilt, and zoom functions rival professional broadcast cams, and definitely outpace the IP version. If you have no need of IP, consider this version and save some $$$.

[ 12 W] This camera is the best PTZ for under $1500. I compared it to similar models made by PTZ Optics and Birddog Eyes. The optical quality of the AviPas unit is far and away superior. Not only that, it was super easy to network thanks to information provided by the manufacturer in their website. HIGHLY recommended.

[5.2 to 98mm] This was purchased for a church to stream services. We wanted 3 angles and so this was perfect. We added in an ATEM switcher and off we went. These cameras are easily set up with SDI cables and simple ethernet cables. Word of advice, the controller MUST be a similar IP as the cameras to work. By default it is nowhere near the cameras IP range. The cameras perform well in our lighting which I expect with the lens quality on these. I do get flares from bright lights which might can be fixed in the settings. Our total cost came out to slightly over $5000 for everything. You don't need a computer if you get a high end ATEM switcher, only a good monitor or TV which we had laying around.

[15x] I purchased this PTZ camera for our church auditorium to both record our weekend services and web streaming. We absolutely love the clarity and ease of use of this camera. We're only using it with 1080p but I hope to update it for 4K in the near future. We're feeding the signal via SDI to our Blackmagic gear and there is no communication issue involved.

[0.5 Lux] I use 4 these cameras in my tv production studio. The image is very good. I also have Sony FX 9 and in multi cam production there is not much different in quality.. Obviously, like with any other professional camera, you will still need to do some adjustments before the show gets out. Generally, I really like the camera for this price.

[f/1.5 to 3] The camera is excellent. It combines modernity with the high level of previous PTZ cameras. I use Sony H900 for work and recently also three Sony SRG X120 - all work very well.

[15x] Coming from the SRG-300H this is a fantastic upgrade. The picture quality is much better in terms of colors and light. The black level is more deep and true. The picture is less grainy and less prone to ugly-looking colors. It holds up in a multicam setup with studio broadcast cameras. It even matches well with the Panasonic UE150, although the UE150 has much better, smoother ptz controls. I also tried it with the BRC-X400 and the picture quality is the same at 1080p59.94.

I has two main drawbacks: the minimum zoom speed isn't slow enough, so you can't start a live zoom without it looking jerky. Also, panning in one direction and then the other will result in a little hitch, which is a big hitch when you're zoomed in. Basically, if you're going to take the shot live, make sure you're only going to pan in one direction, and that you've previously already started panning in that direction. These problems are the same on the older SRG-300H as well as the more expensive BRC-X400. If you want true smooth, hitch-less PTZ, you'd have to go with the UE150. This one is good for static shots.

Also, this camera has no built-in ND filter, which the UE150 has. I like that it has PoE and SDI, and that I can use my old RM-IP controller. The IP configuration through the PC-only software is okay, now that I've gotten used to it.

[0.5 Lux] I'm replacing all my PTZOptics cameras with Marshall Electronics. The video quality is night and day. While PTZOptics was a great solution for the time Marshall swooped in with these great cameras.

[NTSC/PAL] I am using this with an NDI workflow(NDI functionality requires a $200 license from NewTeck) and it has been great. I have not upgraded to 4K yet($660 license from Sony) but with that and NDI added it is the best Price/Feature PTZ I have come across yet!
