The Really Right Stuff MPR-B Index Stop Bar with Thumbscrew (2-Pack)from Really Right Stuff MPR-B Index Stop Bar with Thumbscrew (2-Pack)is compatible with all multi-purpose rails and camera bars. To use, simply clamp on an Arca-type compatible rail or gimbal head to mark a place or to use as a safety stop.

When photographing panoramic shots it is important to mark a no-parallax point to keep the shot consistent. This is when the index stop comes into play. Once the optical center is determined, the stop bar marks the point so the setup can be recreated. The stop bar has a nylon thumb screw, which locks the bar into place, and is adjustable anywhere on the rail or camera bar.

This convenient kit contains a set of two MPR-B stop bars.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Has anybody used this with the BH 30 ballhead?

A: BH-25 fits perfectly.I tried BH-30 also - it fits OK but... BH-30 has slightly larger base dia.

Q: 2. What is the actual base diameter? Was wondering if my RRS BH-55 Ball Head with Lever-Release Panning Clamp (2.9 base diameter) might work w this ultra pocket pod even if it looks to be slightly wide.

A: I have a RRS BH-55 ball head. I put it on my pocket pod and it does indeed function the same as if it were on a larger tripod. As was already stated, even with the legs fully deployed, they do not touch the bottom of the BH-55 ball head.

Q: 3. When would I use such a small tripod?

A: on a table top to shoot 'home videos'

Q: 4. Does this tripod have a bubble level?

A: No, it does not. But add something like this and you'll be able to level your camera: Vello Low Profile Bubble Level BH #VEBLHS1 https://bhpho.to/39PKbp6

Q: 5. Will this rail work with the Really Right Stuff PG-02 LR Pano-Gimbal Head with B2-LR II Lever-Release Clamp?

A: Yes those two would work just fine together.

Q: 6. Is the spring loaded hinge between legs and base plate robust or a weak point? Can the spring dislodge easily?

A: There is no issue with the hinge below the base. RRS makes excellent products. The load capacity of this tripod is a solid 15lbs .

Q: 7. The tripod and the BC-18 ball head both have a male stud, so how to they fit together?

A: The tripod base has a female 1/4"-20, and the BC-18 Micro ball head has a 1/4"-20 male, so they screw right together.

Q: 8. is this rail long enough to use for pano's with a 70-200 f2.8 and full frame camera (5d)?

A: for the 70-200, I would get a longer rail.

Q: 9. Is that with new rrs logo?

A: This will be the latest product available from RSS.

Q: 10. What is the accessory seen in the 4th picture of the product? Looks like a macro rail adapter but I could not find any information about it.

A: That is a part that RRS does not make any more. And you can use many other rails with that as it is Arca-Swiss style connection.

[0.055 lb] The advantage of this rail is you can change the orientation of the clamp 90% and you can move the camera up and down the rail - which can be important, especially for wide-angle lenses that can't have a bit of rail poking into the scene. It will be heavier than a standard nodal rail but it makes up for it in flexibility. For example, I can use mine for simple single row panos, but also as part of a more complex set-up for multi-row panos.

[Aluminum, Nylon] I needed a rail with a quick release clamp that can be oriented either parallel to the rail (panos with a 4x5 view camera and a 6x6 film camera) and perpendicular to the rail (DSLR & Mirrorless 35 mm on a pano-gimbal). This works perfectly and is excellent quality which one always gets with RRS products.

[Aluminum, Nylon] This is a clever combination rail for shooting panos with any lens with an arca swiss mount. Yes, one must change the orientation of the mini-clamps when switching from a parallel (telephoto) to perpendicular (camera body) mount. The change is easily done with the supplied hex key.
Helpful Hints: use a small piece of gaffer tape to mount the hex key in the hollow cavity under the rail so you always have it when needed. Also, find the NPP (No-Parallax Point) on each of your lenses and keep the distance readings taped in the same under rail cavity. Voila!

[Black] Like most RRS products, the quality is hard to beat. It is spendy but you get what you pay for. Clamps lock down solid and it is definitely capable of supporting large pro dslr/lens combo.

[Aluminum, Nylon] Precise, solid and works as it should. The top plate took some elbow grease to lift off and rotate 90 degrees after loosening the screw to accomodate my L bracket on my Nikon D810, but I think it's designed to be a snug fit.

[Aluminum, Nylon] I chose this nodal slide because it has an adjustable mini-clamp for collared and non-collared lenses up to 200mm (I have no experience with super-telephoto lenses). The mini clamp also raises the camera up for better lens hood clearance and can act as a pseudo macro-slide for micro adjustments. The clamp is shipped in the collared lens position so remember to adjust it beforehand if using with non-collared lenses. Takes seconds to adjust and can be orientated any way you want in 90-degree increments. Great build and quality you would expect from Really Right Stuff.
