Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. What would the focal length be on a RED Komodo?

A: The Komodo has a Super35 sensor and this lens will turn into a 64mm (1.6x).

Q: 2. Do all of these lenses achieve 1:1 magnification in terms of Macro?

A: The kit offers a 1:6.1 Magnification factor in terms of macro.

Q: 3. The PL set seems to have a rear filter thread. Are there available rear filters for these from Viltrox? or known thread size?

A: Unfortunately, as of this writing, there are no available rear filters for the Viltrox EPIC T2 1.33x Full-Frame Anamorphic 3-Lens Set.

Q: 4. Is there a version with lens data /i?

A: No, there is no version of the Viltrox EPIC T2 1.33x Full-Frame Anamorphic 3-Lens Set (PL Mount) with Cooke i lens data. Generally, budget cinema lenses will have no compatibility with the big names in cinema, regarding any electronic communication technology being integrated.

Q: 5. Does this cover Vista Vision?

Q: 6. Does this fit new Blackmagic Full Frame Cinema Camera?

A: The image circle of the lens is big enough to cover the FULL sensor of Micro Four Thirds cameras and the full sensor HEIGHT of S35 cameras.

Q: 8. Does the rear element affect the use of the Kippertie Revolva RF/PL ND mount?

A: The rear element on the Viltrox EPIC 35mm T2 1.33x Full-Frame Anamorphic Lens (PL Mount) Will have clearance and not be problematic with the Kippertie Revolva RF/PL ND mount.

Q: 9. Is the 40 mm the actual focal length (so roughly 80 mm equivalent to full 35 mm frame), or is it the equivalent focal length? In other words, is it wide-screen or is telephoto?

A: Lenses are always listed by their physical focal length, then the crop factor for the camera it is being used with must be factored. This will be closer to 80mm.

Q: 10. Will I see vignetting on the c70 if I shoot in XF-AVC 4K DCI? I know this is wider than UHD and I presume it will vignette given this is only MFT coverage. I'm particularly interested with the 28mm lens.

A: No, the Vazen 40mm and 28mm 1.8x Anamorphic Lens' image circle covers the C70s sensor.

[ARRI PL] I've been on the hunt for some budget Anamorphic Lens, and saw some reviews online on these Viltrox EPIC lenses. I took a chance and bought the three lens set. When I shot some test footage, I was really blown away at how much character these lenses have and the quality of the image. I tested the set on both the Sony FX 3 and an Arri Amira. The 50 mm and 75 mm are both very sharp wide-open and the 35 mm is very good around T/2.8. The only negative which applies to nearly all anamorphic lenses is the minimum focusing distance isn't as close as I wish it was. I wound up purchasing a diopter to obtain close focus. What's really great about these lenses is that they are usable for any type of project due to the fact that the squeeze factor is only 1.33X. And even though they have a smaller squeeze factor than many other anamorphic lenses these cover full frame and have some nice anamorphic characteristics in the image. I'm very satisfied with my purchase and I am enjoying using these lenses.

[ARRI PL] This thing is sharp at t2 which is not common amongst anamorphic lenses. Paired with a z cam e2, black magic 4K or GH5 and you have a killer anamorphic setup for an affordable price. Well built and a ton of fun to use.

[ARRI PL] True 2x anamorphic with Panavision C style look.
T2 a little soft, but truly unique character. High build quality.

Wish there was a way to add lens data via the mount. /i data.

[14.53 lb] Alright, this is my first anamorphic and cinema lens. I went back and forth for about a year on what would be my first cinema lens and i went this route based on the few videos i have seen on youtube. I'm not a professional in the filmmaking world (trying though) however I know quality and art when I see it. There's not a lot of info on these, and after figuring out how to monitor them correctly, and color grade the footage (I have a canon r5c and use final cut to grade them) I tossed it up on my big screen TV and was shook... i dont know if BH will take this down but here is some test footage and a quick color grading.

[8] A lot of bokeh at 65mm, but one of the lightest ones in the Orion set (besides the 32mm). Lighter than 40mm

[Imperial] I bought this lens due to having an ease of use rather then my Projection Lens set up.For an Anamorphic Lens, this lens is quite Sharp. The Anamorphic characteristics are quite on par with a lot of the more expensive ones.A lot of people complain that this lens is heavy.Well, what anamorphic lens that has a 1.8-2x stretch which are not? In fact this has to be the lightest 1.8-2x stretch anamorphic lens to date. That was before the 28mm though. For a telephoto anamorphic lens that has a close to 2x stretch which brings out true anamorphic characteristics, its a no brainer.Amazing that we live in times where we can actually own one of this kind of lenses.Ohh did i mention the price? Cheapest out there for a 1.8x.Thats right.

[Full Frame] When I saw the output from this lens, I almost cried. The images are simply mindblowing. The bokeh is pure cinema, the flairs are dazzling yet not gaudy, the sense of presence is incredible, and the color and clarity are perfect.

I thought the price was extreme at first for the m43 system. Then I realized the lens really is on a whole other level. It is a piece of art that makes art.

I've ordered tens of thousands of dollars worth of gear at BH. I've never written a review. But this lens deserves to be known and celebrated.
