Packed with 92 billion transistors, the Apple M3 Max integrates the CPU, GPU, Neural Engine, I/O, and more into a single system on a chip (SoC). Now built with 3nm process technology, the Apple M3 Pro delivers the performance you need without sacrificing power efficiency. The 16-Core CPU features twelve performance cores and four efficiency cores. The enhanced 16-Core Neural Engine accelerates powerful machine learning models, making AI/ML workflows even faster while keeping data on device to preserve privacy. The M3 Max offers support for up to 128GB of unified memory, unlocking workflows previously not available on a laptop, such as AI developers working with even larger transformer models with billions of parameters.

With a 40-Core GPU, the M3 Max features Dynamic Caching, which allocates the use of local memory in hardware in real time. Dynamic Caching only uses the exact amount of memory needed is used for each task, which dramatically increases the average utilization of the GPU, resulting in significant performance increases for the most demanding pro apps and games. Hardware-accelerated ray tracing has arrived for the Mac. Ray tracing models the properties of light as it interacts with a scene, allowing apps to create extremely realistic and physically accurate images. Additionally, the improved GPU brings hardware-accelerated mesh shading to the Mac, delivering greater capability and efficiency to geometry processing, and enabling more visually complex scenes in games and graphics-intensive apps. The M3 Max features two video encode engines, two ProRes engines, and AV1 decode.

Featuring mini-LED technology, this MacBook Pro houses a 14.2" Liquid Retina XDR display. Delivering up to 1000 cd/m² of sustained, full-screen brightness, a high 1600 cd/m² of peak brightness, a 1,000,000:1 contrast ratio, and a billion colors, the Liquid Retina XDR display can handle the extreme dynamic range of HDR content, providing detailed shadows, brilliant specular highlights, deeper blacks, and vivid colors. The display is less than 4mm thin, which is achieved by having seven films and diffusers that mix and shape the light efficiently. The oxide thin film transistor (TFT) allows pixels to charge twice as fast as before.

With ProMotion technology, the MacBook Pro automatically varies the refresh rate to match the motion of your onscreen content. This helps preserve battery life while also making tasks feel more fluid and responsive. This means that the display can have up to a 120 Hz refresh rate. Video editors will also have the option to lock in a refresh rate that is optimal for their footage.

The narrow-band LED-powered backlight allows the MacBook Pro to represent the P3 wide color gamut for brilliant, true-to-life color in photos and videos.

The MacBook Pro features a 2TB SSD so you can take your photo or video libraries with you no matter where you're headed. And with superfast speeds, massive files load in an instant and pro apps launch in a blink.

[48 GB] This isn't a exactly a review about the product since you'll be better served finding youtube videos to watch.

BHP's prompt one-day delivery amidst Christmas and New Year got the product to be when I needed it.

[3024 x 1964] I actually wanted to buy the M3 Pro version of this laptop, but it was backordered for a while and the M3 Max was in stock, so I treated myself. It's amazing. Compared to my M1 MacBook Air, the denoise function in Lightroom seems 10x faster. Everything else too, including pretty much anything I do in Final Cut Pro, is so much faster as well. I'm not maxing this machine out by any stretch of the imagination, but it's great to have this much power for when I need it.

I also love the new color. It looks and feels great. Yes, there's something about the surface that feels better than the old Space Gray. It's not fully black but it's a nice dark gray.

The screen is also lovely with its high refresh rate and high dynamic range. It works very well in Lightroom to switch it to HDR mode to see the actual dynamic range captured. It's quite striking and helps a fair bit with editing.

[3024 x 1964] I really wanted to get the M3 Pro, but that wasn't in stock and it was almost Christmas, so I went for the Max. It's an amazing machine. I love having all this power, even if I only really utilize it occasionally. It does make everything fast and smooth though, whether it's video editing in DaVinci Resolve, photo editing in Lightroom, or exporting motion graphics from Cavalry.

I also went for the 4TB version, which is the way to go if you do video, IMHO. It's great to not have to worry about running out of space for a while.

It's an expensive machine, but I intend to use it (and get a ton of use out of it) for a good number of years.

[2 TB] I upgraded from a 13 inch Touch Bar MacBook Pro, so the performance increase was dramatic as you can imagine. I love the all day battery performance and the industrial design a second to none. The screen, cameras, and audio quality is stunning I would suggest this laptop to anyone.

[14.2"] This is the fastest, coolest (temperature), and versatile computer I have owned. I have owned various MacBook Pro's (Intel era), iMacs and MacPros (cheese grate), so I know a little about OSX computers.

I use Parallels sometimes to run Windows 11 Pro, and this computer does not disappoint. I use CT scans for work, and can seamlessly use the same software at work (Intel PCs with Nvidia RTX cards) vs. my ARM version Windows 11 Pro in virtual machine simulation. Manipulation of these 3D renders is comparable in speed (even though the software explicitly states that it was not optimized to use ARM chips). Haven't found anything that really slows it down. The computer is mostly cool all the time. The fans barely quick up, if at all, so it is really quiet.

But most importantly, I use this computer day in and day out, and most of the time I can use it all day for three to four days before it is down to the 20-30% range where I start feeling anxious and then I plug it in. Charge up is super quick as well -- I think less than an hour to fully charge to 100% from a really low state of charge. So this is the first computer that I feel comfortable calling portable since I don't have to worry so much about finding a plug somewhere.

For sure, a well built solid machine. The only cons I have to report is the weight -- I put a clam shell clear protector (which was not that heavy), but I feel that this laptop could be used as a weapon to defend myself if I had to (like the really old IBM mechanical keyboards if you are from my generation). Also, I think there is a small defect on the edge of my screen in the super thin black surround frame which is a purely cosmetic annoyance. I didn't bother to claim warranty on this since I figure it does not really affect the computer's functions.

Overall, I would buy it again, although I probably would wait for the M4 that is coming out soon. Kudos to Apple again for creating such a nice piece of hardware.

[1x HDMI ] This is a substantial upgrade!!! Coming from the 2020 13 Intel i7 (32GB RAM), it is night and day! For context, the most demanding thing I've done with the old one was a lot of Final Cut X video editing. It was running okay, but the export times were brutal. Some exports required overnight sessions. This M3 Max on the other hand? Running the same/similar workloads? Minutes. It takes MINUTES. Meaning no longer than 45 minutes for MOST EXPORTS. I have fallen in love with the Mac all over again thanks to this machine!! That 2020 one is just a bad memory at this point. Oh, and the screen is soooo good! Mini LED+HDR is a great combination over the previous screen. The inclusion of the HDMI and SDXC ports are handy to have over JUST having USB-C, MagSafe is clutch for traveling (I exclusively use an Apple Studio display for day-to-day power)...And choosing Space Black over Silver was a surprisingly good choice for me (fought for months trying to decide)...I am THOROUGHLY happy with my purchase!
