This Cavision 82mm Circular Polarizer Filteris designed for lenses with focal lengths of 70mm or less. It helps to reduce reflections and glare by filtering out light that has become polarized due to reflection from a non-metallic surface. This results in a noticeable increase in the saturation of skies and foliage, as well as clearer imagery when photographing in hazy conditions. A circular polarizer differs from a linear polarizer in that it supports full use of a camera's autofocus and auto exposure functions.

This filter measures 82mm in diameter and is constructed from optical glass for maintained image quality.

Helps to reduce reflections and glare by filtering out light that has become polarized due to reflection from a non-metallic surface.

Arrange and filter directionally polarized light perpendicularly to the reflected light allowing for the absorption of much of the light.

Lessens haze in distant landscapes and provides more saturated, vivid colors.

Strongest effect when used at a 90° angle from the sun.

Circular polarizers are ideal for use with digital cameras and autofocus lenses where a linear polarizer will often disrupt auto exposure and focus features.

Constructed from high quality optical glass.

Filter ring can be rotated to adjust the intensity of the polarization effect.

Designed for lenses with focal lengths of 70mm or less.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Since this is a circular polarizer, does that mean the amount of polarization will be affected by the amount you rotate it?

A: Yes as you rotate it inside the filter holder purchased separately you set the amount of polarization. But you would rotate a linear polarizer the same way to set the polarization.

Q: 2. Is this polarizer scratch-proof?

A: The Sony 82mm T* Circular Polarizer Filter is not published by the manufacturer as being scratch-proof.

Q: 3. Can this filter attach to the UV filter already on the lens or is it best to use one or the other?

A: Most UV filters have front filter threads. So you could attach the ZEISS 67mm Carl ZEISS T* Circular Polarizer Filter to the front of most UV filters.

Q: 4. What is the filter factor, i.e. how many stops of light are reduced?

A: The filter factor of the Sony 82mm T* Circular Polarizer Filter is 1.6x, i.e., 3 stops of light are reduced.

Q: 5. Will the stock Canon RF lens caps work for this, or can you recommend one that is sure to work?

A: A corresponding size lens cap with a center-pinch, Snap-On style will work with the lens filter over the lens.

Q: 6. Will it fit Fujifilm x100v?

A: You can use 49mm filters on the Fuji X100V if you first place this adapter on the camera. https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/760882-REG/Fujifilm_16144559_AR_X100_Adapter_Ring_for.html

Q: 7. what filter holder can be used with this filter?

A: I am using it in my Cavision matte box but any filter holder of those dimensions can be used. The 4x5.5 format is very common for filter holders on matte boxes although 3x3 and 4x4 holders also exist

Q: 8. How does the Sony brand filters compare to Hoya, Heliopan, or Zeiss?

A: T* is Zeiss glass - it would the same high quality

Q: 9. What does it means that this filter " designed for lenses with focal lengths of 70mm or less. " Is ther any harm in using it with long telephoto lenses? Will it harm the image quality?

A: Anything above 70mm we don't recommend using the Circular Polarizer because you may not be able to achieve focus.

Q: 10. How good is on Eliminating Reflections and Glare?

A: Yes. The following CP filter will allow a end-user to saturate colors make water and windows seems invisible and remove metallic reflection of off surfaces.

[Glass] This was a pretty good deal. Seems to work well. Haven't had a chance to use it on a real shoot yet so it's hard to say how it compares to Tiffen glass, but knowing that its about 1/3 the price makes me feel good about it already!

[Aluminum] This is one of the only 2mm CPL filters available in 150x150mm. It does a fine job filtering out reflections and polarized light without reducing desirable light. It is not as dark as many other CPLs, and therefore may not appear as strong; (e.g. it won't make the contents of your computer screen disappear). That doesn't mean it's weak, though; it seems to do its job more efficiently than other filters, without sacrificing a lot of the non-polarized light in the scene, and therefore without tinting colors or causing other issues like some CPLs do. In other words, this is a really good CPL that will make you realize what a real CPL is supposed to do. If you're looking for a square polarizing filter and don't want to get a linear polarizer (as they don't work with autofocus), then this is an excellent choice.

[0.15 lb] I purchased this because I could not afford the more expensive brands. I figured I was going to get what I paid for and have some regrets but to my amazement , it turned out to be very high quality glass!!! This heavy quality glass even comes nicely wraped on all four sides with a rubber seal which makes it easier to handle and protects against chips. It even comes wraped in a large velvet cloth and a impressive Velcro case that is padded. My photos are so much better now with day shots and it beautifully removes reflection in the water and really brings out the blues in the sky. This glass was worth every penny. I plan to buy more glass from this company soon!!!
