Q: 1. is there a short cable (4" max) that can be used in place of the original cables? I need to plug in a small wireless receiver and the original cables are too big.

A: The cable on these Audio Technica headphones is specialized and we do not carry anything that short. You may be able to contact AT to see of they can custom one for you.

Q: 3. I need a set of headphones for doing homework to eliminate distractions. How do these do for isolating outside noises?

A: Audio Technica does not currently offer any wireless headphones.

Q: 9. Are the white and black models the same headphone just different colors?

A: Yes, the only difference between the Audio-Technica ATH-M50x's different color options would be the color.

Q: 10. Would these be appropriate for music mixing? I understand that many use the 500. https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1712356-R

[Black] Wasn't sure I was going to keep them but can't help myself. They do require some EQ but after EQ they are absolutely beautiful. A pretty rare combination of detail and deep impactful bass (try listening to Massive Attack on these). I'm using them with Qudelix 5K and it's definitely enough to drive them - they are pretty efficient. Heavy yes but comfortable and you get used to the weight. The weight adds to the overall feeling of these headphones sounding full and warm with deep impactful bass.

[1x XLR 4-Pin] Used to have the best Stax phones, twice!, and the Audeze beats them hands down!

[5000 mW] Clarity meets and exceeds HD800S levels of clarity, especially when it comes to instrument separation. Imaging is excellent as is the sound stage, granted the soundstage is not as expansive as the HD800S. Bass is tight and accurate. I find myself reaching for these cans over the HD800S and HD660S. 5/5 stars

[10 Hz to 50 kHz] Amazing clarity and texture, and easy to drive. Running it off a astonishingly capable Hiby R5S with an 8 wire copper Forzaworks cable and it sound fantastic. Need to burn in your planers for 200-250 hours before they sound there best.

[130 dB] Listening to music can be a subjective thing. I am saxophonist and write and record music at home. I ordered the Sennheiser HD650's and liked them very much. Once of my musician friends loaned me his Audeze LCD-X's and I was saddened by the fact that I knew I had to part with a 1000 of my hard earned dollars. The Audeze LCD-X have a beautiful sound stage, a bit wider than the Sennheiser's. The separation and warmth between instruments is beautiful. I will be listening to a lot more music in the future. Thank you B and H for having this at a good price and as always getting them to me very quickly. Very Happy with the purchase and highly recommended.

[10 Hz to 50 kHz] I've owned dozens of headphones. My favorite setup prior to these was my Sony MDR-z7 paired with the PHA-3 amp, run with balanced cables. To me, that was the best combination of excellent sound and separation while still being flat out fun to listen to. I was in a bind and had to sell it. I am so stinkin' glad I did.

I was in a position to go back to my audio-crack (headphone addict...you know who you are) and was able to pick these up. I have to have closed back due to my living situation and 5 kids. Besides the presentation and amazing build quality, these were impressive out of the box and even plugged directly in. Better separation and detail than the Sony's, truer soundstage, and still bass body enough to keep fun. In fact, the accuracy (without the harshness) made these even more fun as I just got lost in the music again.

I knew I had to pair with an amp, but budget would be tight (I mean, these are cheap). The Aune x1s did a very good job, and is probably the better budget option. I did venture to get a Jotunheim, for balanced, and I liked it, but something in the signature just didn't sound as smooth and natural as these should sound. Then, I tried the Fostex HPA4BL. I am so glad I did! Great build and, to me, the better pairing than the Jot. It just sounded more natural and smoother.

I've said enough, but regardless of your amp choice (or not...I do use a USB-C adapter straight into my iPad Pro 11 when not at my desk, and sound fantastic), I just can't imagine being disappointed with these cans. There is a weight, but it's distributed well. Plus, you should feel like something substantial is embracing your cranium if you're gonna have a mental glitch (wife speak) enough to spend this kind of money.

P.S. - They do sound fantastic with movies on my upgraded iMac and mixing. Out.

[5000 mW] Wow what a good sound and the attention to detail on these hp's is very good, just got them I've been looking for a really good closed back headphone and to my ears these are the best sounding, the level of quality, tonal balance and transparency of these hp's are second to none. They come with a new cable not that old Audeze ribbon type cable, and this new cable is much more attractive. Also the headband has changed these are weighty hp's for sure but very balanced. The sq of these hp's are something you really need to hear simply amazing sounding, I'm very pleased with this purchase and feel the LCD-XC's are a must have for anyone who enjoys their music..enjoy

[70 Ohms] I have had these for a week or so and they are great sounding headphones. I am using a Burson conductor V2+ to power it and it does a great job. Listening to Cat Stevens Tea for a Tillerman on Vinyl sounds great, as does other music I am listening to . Still testing and trying different music, in which I am hearing things that I never heard before. These headphone are a must!!!

[5000 mW] I am coming to these headphones from another excellent model, the Sendheiser 800x with Cardas Clear cable, the the new LCD-X hold there own, in fact becoming my new favorite reference headphone. These are incredibly well balanced at all frequencies, have much better bass than the 800X, yet retain exceptional clarity throughput the mids and highs. The 800x really only beats these in soundstaging. I strongly recommend using your savings from the Creator Package to purchase the Audeze top-line headphone cable that comes with the LCD-4. I found it offered more clarity and more open high end, coming closer to the openness and soundstage of the 800X. Highly recommended!
