[Gray] Great imaging and extended bass response. Headphones I can trust to mix on, and I’m aLao enjoying listening to my favorite tracks again and hearing details I had never noticed.

[Gray] Wasn't sure I was going to keep them but can't help myself. They do require some EQ but after EQ they are absolutely beautiful. A pretty rare combination of detail and deep impactful bass (try listening to Massive Attack on these). I'm using them with Qudelix 5K and it's definitely enough to drive them - they are pretty efficient. Heavy yes but comfortable and you get used to the weight. The weight adds to the overall feeling of these headphones sounding full and warm with deep impactful bass.

[Gray] Amazing clarity and texture, and easy to drive. Running it off a astonishingly capable Hiby R5S with an 8 wire copper Forzaworks cable and it sound fantastic. Need to burn in your planers for 200-250 hours before they sound there best.

[Gray] Before buying these, I had the opportunity to listen to them, other Audeze headphones, and some high-end headphones at the B&H store on 9th Ave. I strongly recommend doing this if you can. The sales assistant was a pleasure, a man who enthusiastically enjoyed his work, as he led me through a educational tour of headphones from $1K to +$3K.  He convinced me once and for all of the advantages of open back headphones, which is not what I was initially going to buy.

These headphones are a delight, and well worth their price. Bass is thumping, clear, crisp, and deep, vocals are precise, rounded, and well defined, the highs are pinpoints beautifully separated, without ringing, sibilence, hissing, or clashing.  The sound stage is perfect, wide, but not artificially too wide.  Compared to the Audio Technica M50x, these headphone are as revealing, but more musical.  There is a limit to how long I can listen to the M50x. So far I havent found a limit with these.

Like the M50, the  LCD-X requires a good source, because youre going to hear everything thats there, as well as everything that isnt.  I am using a Hiby R6 to listen to MP3s and .WAV files, and a Roland R7 to listen to some orchestral works recorded in Hi Res. with excellent results.

One complaint, despite what is advertised, these headphones do not come with a 1/4 to 1/8 adapter.  Make sure to order one at the same time.

[Gray] I've owned dozens of headphones. My favorite setup prior to these was my Sony MDR-z7 paired with the PHA-3 amp, run with balanced cables. To me, that was the best combination of excellent sound and separation while still being flat out fun to listen to. I was in a bind and had to sell it. I am so stinkin' glad I did.

I was in a position to go back to my audio-crack (headphone addict...you know who you are) and was able to pick these up. I have to have closed back due to my living situation and 5 kids. Besides the presentation and amazing build quality, these were impressive out of the box and even plugged directly in. Better separation and detail than the Sony's, truer soundstage, and still bass body enough to keep fun. In fact, the accuracy (without the harshness) made these even more fun as I just got lost in the music again.

I knew I had to pair with an amp, but budget would be tight (I mean, these are cheap). The Aune x1s did a very good job, and is probably the better budget option. I did venture to get a Jotunheim, for balanced, and I liked it, but something in the signature just didn't sound as smooth and natural as these should sound. Then, I tried the Fostex HPA4BL. I am so glad I did! Great build and, to me, the better pairing than the Jot. It just sounded more natural and smoother.

I've said enough, but regardless of your amp choice (or not...I do use a USB-C adapter straight into my iPad Pro 11 when not at my desk, and sound fantastic), I just can't imagine being disappointed with these cans. There is a weight, but it's distributed well. Plus, you should feel like something substantial is embracing your cranium if you're gonna have a mental glitch (wife speak) enough to spend this kind of money.

P.S. - They do sound fantastic with movies on my upgraded iMac and mixing. Out.

[Gray] Use these every day and they are comfortable (I sometimes wear them for 6-8 hours) and the sound is simply astounding. Forget Bose, forget Beats, forget Master And Dynamic ,forget B&O, forget Sennheiser... this is where it is at if you want the best. Will run from your portable device or will be even better with a nice head amp. Best I have heard and I have had some big money headphone setups!

[Gray] Impressively easy to drive, great sound that doesn't require EQ. Quite heavy but normal for this type of headphone.

[Gray] I got these for personal use and love them so far. They have a fairly neutral sound signature with a slightly warm emphasis and a dip in the highs. This is exactly what I'm into, I don't feel the need to EQ these like many other reviewers seem to. The bass feels very strong and well controlled without being overpowering. Bass heavy songs still sound very bassy, despite the overall neutral sound. As someone who is pretty sensitive to treble and bass, I don't find these fatiguing to listen to for long periods. The first potential drawback I can see with is the weight. These are the heaviest headphones I've personally ever owned, which is due to the all metal construction and also I believe the magnets themselves in planar magnetic headphones are often pretty hefty. I still find these very comfortable to wear for long periods though, the earpads and head strap are great. Another possible drawback is the soundstage: it's ok, but I'd say these are not the headphones to get if super wide soundstage is a high priority. If, for example, positional audio in games is very important to you, these just aren't going to compete with something like the HD800. Overall though, I'm really happy with these for $1200 and plan on using these as my primary headphones for the foreseeable future.
