The front threads on the filter allow users to stack filters by screwing them into other Simmod filters.

It takes two full turns to mount the filter onto the lens. This feature will securely hold the Simmod filter through the most demanding shoots.

Simmod can offer a 99.2% transmission rate by using highly polished Schott glass and advanced coatings.

Seven layers of nano coating on each side offer scratch resistance. With a combined 14 layers of nano coating, water beads will roll off your filter, while oil and fingerprints can be gently wiped off. Dust and debris won't adhere to the filter either and can be removed with a puff of air.

The filter is multicoated with 16 layers of coating on each side. That's a combined total of 32-layers of protective and enhancement coating. Multicoating reduces unwanted internal reflections and ghosting that can compromise your images.

The filter blocks UV light and reduces the bluish cast of daylight. This can affect color accuracy, especially at higher altitudes.

The properties of a brass filter ring minimize the chance of jamming or binding when screwing the filter onto the lens or stacking filters.

This filter is slim enough to use on wide-angle lenses without experiencing vignetting due to its 3.2mm size.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. where is the Nikon Nikkor Z 20mm f/1.8 S Manufactured ?

A: This lens is made in China.

Q: 2. If I want to shoot in aperture priority how do I manually change the aperture on this lens with an S5ii camera body?

A: The aperture is driven via rotary dial on body of camera.

Q: 3. All of a sudden my lens is not auto focusing. I cannot figure out if I changed a setting or what happened. Does anyone know how to resolve this?

A: The lens has a feature that allows you to easily move from AF to Manual focus by sliding the focusing ring back toward the camera for Manual. To put back into AF just push the focus ring to the front. I'm guessing that you accidentally moved the ring it backwards into Manual.

Q: 4. Since there is no focus indicator on the lens how do you know when you're at infinity when using manual focus?

A: There will be a focus scale that appears on the LCD of Nikon Z cameras, so it would be easy to see if the NIKKOR Z 24mm f/1.8 S Lens is focused to infinity.

Q: 5. How is this lens for starbursts of lights? I absolutely love creating starbursts with city lights.

A: Nikon NIKKOR Z 20mm f/1.8 S Lens is know to produce excellent starbursts. It produces 18-point starbursts as it has 9-blade rounded aperture.

Q: 6. hello.. is it coming with caps and hood? works for S5?

A: Yes. The Panasonic Lumix S 50mm f/1.8 Lens comes with the front and rear caps and the hood. When shopping our site you can always see what is included with an item by viewing the overview tab and finding the “In the Box” listing located on the right hand side of our web page. It is also compatible with the Panasonic S5 camera.

Q: 7. Is this lens good for Astro photography?

A: The Nikon NIKKOR Z 24mm f/1.8 S Lens is a good lens for astrophotography. It offers sharp images and has a wide 1.8 aperture that offers great quality in low light. However, it has some coma aberration at the corners, which is when the stars look like arrows instead of dots. A lens that has less coma aberration is the Venus Optics Laowa 15mm f/2 FE Zero-D Lens for Nikon Z (B&H # VE1520NZ), but it is only manual focus. For night photos, you will only use manual focus and manual exposure anyway.

Q: 8. Is it an inner focusing lens?

A: Yes it is, and a very sharp one at that. I've used it for two years and I love it.

Q: 9. Hi, I am new to the Panasonic family. I am purchasing the Lumix S5iix. What is the correct part number for the 50 MM 1.8?

A: The Panasonic Lumix S 50mm f/1.8 Lens with UV Filter Kit is compatible with the Panasonic Lumix S5 IIX Mirrorless Camera.

Q: 10. Hello! This lens works with the Panasonic Lumix G-100 Camera? without adapters?

A: The Panasonic Lumix S 50mm f/1.8 Lens will not work with the Lumix G100.

[0.105 lb] I absolutely love this filter - perfectly clear glass that helps to limit flare and ghosting without impacting the image in any negative way. it threads on easy to the bayonet mount and doesn't get stuck in place like my Hoyas do.

[Brass] This is a well made UV filter, will smooth machined threads and glides on the lens like silk. I do recommend adding just a touch of lubricant (teflon grease) to the treads before mounting to keep it working for years to come. It is crystal clear and works perfect for my lenses. Very high quality and would recommend this for anyone who cares for their lenses. Love the colours too, makes my manual lenses the envy of my peers. Looking forward to more Filters from the range. Fantastic!

[Brass] Nice filter. I purchased it based on the advertisement of not changing the exposure, and that the color ring makes identification very quick. I have not noticed any chances in Lightroom.

[49 mm] As a chief cinematographer with a 40 year carrier in television I have always trusted Tiffen filters. Fit and finish is superb. This review is for the 49mm size. I have used Tiffen filters up to 77mm with no problems with fit or quality. I have always used the UV filter as a front element lens protection on all my lenses as well to filter out excess ultra violet light. I have also used Tiffen Polarizer filters with consistent results.
