A: Hello; the answer is yes to both questions. The peak design plate is arca-swiss compatible, as is the head for your tripod. I leave these plates on my camera all the time for that reason. It really speeds things up and simplifies my process. The strap will work well--i.e. it's plenty strong enough, but there is a matter of personal preference for width and thickness across the different models (e.g. larger or regular or lite). Q: 8. is the body of this unit made of metal? I have the Gowing equivalent of the Peak, and the body is plastic and there are reports of failure with dropping of an expensive lens. I hesitate to use my unit.

A: The plate that slips into the device that clamps onto a belt or strap is made of metal. The flat belt gizmo is also metal so you have a secure metal to metal connection. The red protusion on the flat plate ejects the lens holding body when pushed in but also pulls out and rotates to lock the protusion from being accidently depressed and releasing the lens holder. The black wheel clamps down and secures the lens holder in place even further. The body itself to which the lenses attach is of plastic which WOULD be of concern if the slideing base that locks to the belt holder were of plastic but it's not. Metal to metal connection. I use it confidently even with both a 70-200 and 24-70 attached simultaneously. Only time it failed me is when I didn't completely rotate the 70-200 to its lock position. Fell 30 to concrete on the lens hood but did't do any evident or lasting damage.

A: No, this is for a Canon EF mount lens.
