Q: 1. Can I attach this to a monopod, then attach the Wimberley Sidekick to this clamp?

A: You should be able to do that using this clamp.

Q: 2. is the ratchet handle a true ratchet? or is it the same as Manfrotto's that will block you from turning the handle if you are in a tight place.

A: It is the same as Manfrottos. It is not a true ratchet. It must be pulled outward about 0.25 inches, but then it can be turned freely to any position. Just like Manfrottos, once it is in a new position it can be turned tighter or looser as needed. It requires very little room to tighten, pull out, rotate counter clockwise, push in, then tighten a little more, repeat as needed. Or loosen, pull out, rotate clockwise, push in, then loosen a little more, repeat as needed.

Q: 3. Will this hold the Matthews Telescopic Baby Stand extension? I need to mount the general portabright lighting systems as a permanent desk fixture.

A: Yes. The clamp has a female 5/8 socket to receive the 5/8 stud on top of the Baby Stand

Q: 4. I am looking for something to be able to attach miscellaneous items to a light stand, such as a stuffed animal, floral bouquet or whatever for modeling purposes. I have a Manfrotto Nano Light Stand and Swivel Tite Umbrella Adaptor. What is a person to do? Just use velcro, string or whatever to hang items from the light stand? Thanks.

A: Search for, Clamp-on tripod with flexible neck.

Q: 5. Will this fit onto a guitar ?

A: It would depend on how wide the neck of your guitar was, I tried it on a Takamine acoustic around the neck, it may interfere with the strings on the fret board, alternatively it will fit up where the string clamps and tuning thumb screws are. Hope that helps.

Q: 6. If the stud was oriented horizontally, parallel to a table, could the 1/4-20 screw end hold 5-10 lbs. without snapping off? If not, is there a stud like this made out of steel, like a QR plate's screw?

A: The 1/4" thread would not be stable for an item that weighs 5-10 lbs. If you prefer to use a quick release plate, the Manfrotto 323 RC2 System Quick Release Adapter with 200PL-14 Plate, BH # MA323 screwed into the Manfrotto 037 Reversible Short Stud, with 3/8" & 1/4"-20 Threads (Brass), BH # MA037 would be better. The Short Stud should have its 3/8" thread facing towards the bottom of the quick release.

Q: 7. What is the maximum shear force allowable on the sides of the 5/8" end of the stud? I'm concerned it will snap off at the base with 10lbs. weight (my setup) exerted on the sides of the stud. The clamp will be mounted on a vertical metal pole in a copy stand setup.

A: The clamp can hold up to 33 lbs. If using the 1/4" threads as the connect to what is being mounted to the clamp, a load of no more than 2-4 lbs is recommended.

Q: 8. Could you use this to attach a boom pole to a tripod with quick release plate?

A: Probably not the best item for your project. We HAVE used it to attach a boom pole to the top of a light stand or a C-stand. Works wonderfully for that. But not to the top of a tripod plate.Plus, the torque created by a long pole's weight may just rip the tiny 1/4 screw right off the tripod.

Q: 9. The center hole is 1/4"-20. The two horizontal threaded holes are some other size. The two vertical holes are not threaded. Outside of the 1/4"-20 center hole uses, what accessories use these patterns?

A: The smaller holes on the back of the Super Clamp allow you to connect accessories to the Super Clamp. As an example, when holding multiple backgrounds on an autopole using a Super Clamp, you may connect the Manfrotto 045 Background Triple Hooks for Three Backgrounds (Box of 2), B&H # MA045, or the Impact Background Triple Hooks - Pair (Black), B&H # IMVPDH3W, via hex screws, or you may connect a single background hook such as the Impact ME-122P Single Background Holder Hooks for Super Clamps (2-Pack), B&H # IMME122P, which may be inserted into the hexagonal 5/8" hole on the back of the unit. There may be other accessories that would also work with the attachment points on a Super Clamp, but the ones listed above would be the popular ones and the ones we carry. We do also carry Super Clamp options that have a grip head connected to the Super Clamp, or connects two Super Clamps together.
