This compact and lightweight Mini Matte Box from Neewer features a 4 x 5.65" filter tray for using rectangular filters and an integrated 95mm standard ring that can natively mount a 92.5mm round filter or employ the included 67, 72, 77, and 82mm adapter rings for using optional CPL, ND, GND, UV, and other effects filters. Compatible with Sony a7R IV, a7R V, a7S III, Canon R6 II, R6, and R5, this compact matte box avoids glare and lens flare and improves exposure control by blocking excessive sunlight and other light sources.

A built-in 95mm standard ring allows direct use of 92.5mm round filters, or it can be used with the four included lens ring adapters to connect CPL, ND, GND, UV, or effects filters in diameters of 67, 72, 77, and 82mm. There are no dark corners when shooting at a 15mm focal length. The spring-loaded buckle enables secure installation and quick lens ring adapter removal.

The included filter tray fits separately available 4 x 5.65" rectangular filters that can be secured by the filter tray screw knobs and protected by rubber pads. The tray is compatible with K&F, NISI, Tiffen, Tilta, and SmallRig square filters.

Tilt the top flag at 180° to block excessive light and prevent lens flare. Fold down the flag to cover the front filter and protect the lens. The top flag lock firmly secures the flag in place, and the thumb screw allows you to adjust the flag back and forth to fasten the filter tray for perfect light blockage.

The carbon fiber top flag and plastic matte box are durable and portable for outdoor shooting. The base features a 1/4"-20 thread with locating holes for accessory mounting.

A: This should work depending on the variable NDs filter thread. You should be able to attach the filter to the lens, then attach the 55mm - 95mm adapter ring to the filter.

Q: 3. Can you 2 stacked circular filters (ie..black pro mist and ND) at once with this matte box?

A: Yes. the following unit will work with Circular Filters up to 92.5mm

A: The Meike FF-Prime Cine 50mm T2.1 Lens would be compatible with the SmallRig Mini Matte Box, when using the included 82mm adapter. The Tiffen 82mm Glimmerglass filter has a 82mm front thread, which could attach to the 82mm adapter.

[9 x 6.1 x 2.9"] The matte box has performed exactly as expected. It's being used in conjunction with a Sony VCL-HG0872 wide angle lens on a Sony FX1. I also purchased a RS15IIM (250) rod support system. 5

[9 x 6.1 x 2.9"] I have used this several times on an FX3 with Sony GM 24 & 35 primes. I have not had an issues stacking two Vaxis NDs in the dual circular tray and a mist or pola in this tray. The 24 & 35mm lenses are a 67 filter diameter. I never tried the 24-70 zoom, where vignetting complaints seem to come from, but that lens is a larger 82mm filter spec. I wouldn't suggest putting the Tilta Mirage on a lens with an external zoom or focus. I tried it on vintage contax zeiss and the focus ring turns hard and likely would damage with repeated use. I suggest trying in store if you can, but for smaller diameter prime lenses with an internal focus ring this tray is the perfect add to the Tilta Mirage mattebox. 5

[1.08 lb] I didn’t know what I was missing before I purchased this matte box and VND filter. I film a lot of content that moves in and out of buildings and cars and messing with iso and screw on VND’s made this nearly impossible. This matte box and filter really solves all of my issues and makes my FX3 rival a FX6. 5

[1.08 lb] It's a filter tray that locks in perfectly for the SmallRig Mini Matte box.... Not much to say about this thing other than it works. It locks in to place securely and leaves you with a sense of confidence that your filter won't fall out (unlike the Tiltaing Matte Box, with its small, knobby pin-stop mechanism). The only small gripe I have is that this is plastic. I should have realized that before purchasing, but honestly, I still would have bought this again even if I knew it was plastic - especially considering how inexpensive this is! 5

[9 x 6.1 x 2.9"] I bought this to use a 4x4 filter on the small rig matte box. I wanted to use the matte box in extreme environments (eg rock climbing) and needed ND to film. The variable NDs are all pretty bad that I have used - this is a good solution for a 3-stop 4x4 filter. The mini matte box does not have side flags so this eliminates some flare potential by having less width to cover. I am using it on a g9II with either the 12-35mm or the 9mm M4/3 lenses and vignetting is not an issue on video. For stills there is slight vignetting on the 9mm, but that's not my primary purpose here. All in all good if you don't want to risk your expensive 4x5.65 so close to the front of your rig. Now all I need to solve is keeping the dust off of the glass filter in rough environments. 5
