Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. How does this microphone perform in loud environments?

A: It's a omnidirectional microphone, so it will pick up some background noise. However as long as the subject speaks into the microphone it will sound clear. For less background noise I would recommend looking into a cardioid handheld microphone.

Q: 2. Can this mic be used with a parabolic dish?

A: No. This style of mic would not be used with a parabolic dish. It's usually a shotgun or lavalier.

Q: 3. Is this compatible with the HMD 280-13 headset?

A: The Sennheiser BMD42 will not work with the HMD 280-13. For a replacement, please request a special order through our phone system for a Sennheiser catalog # 083411.

Q: 4. Is this a slave unit or a master?

A: This is a remote headset, the master version is also available on this page.

Q: 5. does it come with the mic holder like shown in the picture?

A: Yes the Senal ENG-18RL comes in the box with the microphone clip, foam windscreen and even a carrying zippered pouch.

Q: 6. is the blue button on the master supposed to be recessed? Does it have any function? When my charger is not red or green does that indicate a full charge?

A: Hello I'm not an eartech rep so maybe they can give exact anwsers. In either of my sets the rubber button on the earcup is used for the power and pairing on the remote headsets. On the master headsets however the power button is a physical rocker switch on the bottom of the earcup and the rubber button is shaved down but does still function as the pair button. Not sure about the light ont he carger. When mine are charging the led is red and when its done it stays lit green . Hope this info helps... best wishes! IMHO: Overall a great product! Saves our productions time and money.

Q: 7. will this work with Azden 310XT UHF On-Camera Plug-In System?

A: The Senal ENG-18RL as well as similar dynamic ENG mics are compatible and can be used with the Azden 310XT system.

Q: 8. Can you record and monitor thru the head set at the same time?

A: Yes -the adapter is designed to monitor the audio feed from the microphone.

Q: 9. Can a dual-ear model be added to a single-ear system?

A: You can add a dual ear remote model to a single ear system. Please note the final total count of your system would have to equal either 1 master headset and up to 4 remote headsets, or 1 Hub mini and up to 8 total remote headsets. If you are uncertain about your system, please contact our Pro Audio Department for more information.

Q: 10. Is this compatible with the HME26?

A: This windscreen is not compatible with the HMD 26 headset.

[40 Hz to 18 kHz] Hmm not sure why there are bad reviews by a few customers. Either they are consumers or amateurs; this is the gold standard for studio-quality mic and headset. We use it for several productions and perform really well for the price.

[40 Hz to 18 kHz] Based on the reviews alone, I would have passed on this headset. I think the problem is people don't understand this is an ON ear headset and not an OVER ear headset. I work as a lighting designer and sometimes have to wear a headset for 15 hours straight. I was turned on to these after a show caller at an event had them, and her voice sounded amazing over intercom. These sound great in the ears, mic sounds great, and the look really professional too. I love that I can swing the earcup back to make it a single when I need to hear the room. I will agree that since it's an on ear headset it isn't as comfortable as some of the over ears. With that said, they are still way more comfortable than any of the clearcom or telex offerings, and sound SO MUCH BETTER. The noise isolation is really good too. I use these in combination with 15db molded earplugs in arena settings, and the SPL out of the headset is good enough to crank up and hear production, and the mic sounds better than my David Clarks. I love being able to swap the 4 pin cable out for an XLR/TRS cable that I can use for video conferences and remote support applications. I am very happy with this headset.

[40 Hz to 18 kHz] Sennheiser is known for having great audio equipment and this mic is no different. Comes as described and delivers more than you can ask for.

[.5 mV/Pa] Works great with our Lectro plugon transmitter. Nice clean sound. There is a reason it's a workhouse in ENG work.

[Yes] Have purchased and used many Sennheiser products through the years. The HMD-25 was great. The HMD-26 was flawed, but many issues were corrected with the HMD-26-II. The HMD-27 has the around ear style. Personal preference for the 26-II on ear style. Noise canceling is very effective. We think the 600-ohm version (vs 100-ohm) is worth it. If you purchase the no cable option you'll need

[200 Ohms] The headset works well for broadcast sports production applications. I purchased this to use at a series of games I was covering at a venue that required a four-pin XLR female connector. The audio was clear, for both the headsets and the mic, as it should be at the highest level of production work.

The build quality was good, but you'll want to take care of this headset because it's more fragile than other models in this price range. I purchased separately a headphone travel case and I recommend you do the same. I'm confident that the headset will last for years if combined with a hard shell travel case.

I haven't had the need to change out the connector type, but it looks simple enough should I need to change connectors at some point. Also, I haven't tested the volume limiter but the volume levels were fine the times that I've used the headset. In my opinion, it seems to be working as advertised and knocking down spikes in the volume.

Overall, I would recommend this for broadcast production applications where this will be your personal headset. It will serve you well and give you a comfortable, reliable headset with clear audio.

I wouldn't recommend this headset for situations where you're buying it for other people to use because I could see someone overtightening the tension screw on the mic and stripping that out. It would probably be better to buy a cheaper headset for those situations and use the money you saved for a replacement headset when someone breaks the cheap one. Or, look at some of the other options out there in this price range that are more robust. They exist, but they'll also cost a bit more and that cost can add up if you're purchasing multiple units at once.

[123 dB] Exactly what we expected from Sennheiser. Very good quality and does what we need for outdoor sports broadcasting. Note that this large windscreen is much larger than the standard windscreen that comes with a new HMD-26 headset.

[300 Ohms] I cannot say it enough just how good these Sportscaster headphones are, the sound is very clear and the microphone is supreme. Headset is built very well, and will hold up for field use.
