It is a perfect match for the Avenger line of booms, which is what it is intended to work with, and as such it is pretty much perfect for larger studio lights - its intended function.The drop down pin is intended, as the name implies, to position flash heads in a hanging position, so the flash head hangs from the pin mounted at the end of the boom, rather than attaching the head to the end of the boom and then attempting to force the head in a sideways position by tightening the thumb screw on the flash head to its max - which will fail with any large and heavy modifier mounted on the flash head.Likewise, attempting to use a drop down pin as a 45 degree yoke is doomed to fail - the thumb screws on the drop down pin are not intended to secure the pin at upward angle, they are far too weak for that. It is only intended for hanging. It's like forcing a square peg through a round hole. Use the right tool for the right job.I only wish Avenger/Manfrotto would make a Nano line equivalent of this one for use with Elinchrom Quadra and speedlites with lightweight modifiers, as the E700 defeats the purpose of lightweight location lights by being so big and, relatively speaking, heavy. Which, in other contexts, with bigger lights, is it's force. There is a gap in Avengers/Manfrottos product line that needs to be filled.

[0.85 lb] I had been wanting something to hold my Profoto 20 Softlighter Beauty Dish on my Avenger Boom Arm that sits on an Avenger low boy stand. My issue was that the Beauty Dish being heavy with the Profoto light, tended to droop down as it was not catching the pin being smooth.
The Drop-Down Pin solved my problem. It has a serrated edge that helps the screw of the light to grasp and hold it in place. Now, my light does not droop at all. Very happy with this product.
