Featuring an aluminum frame with small built-in magnets, the Kolari Vision Magnetic Clip-In Filter RED KOMODO Hot Mirror 2from Kolari Vision Magnetic Clip-In Filter RED KOMODO Hot Mirror 2secures magnetically to the RED KOMODO cinema camera lens mount to sit securely between your camera and lens. It is a great solution when your lens doesn't feature front filter threads or if you want to add an additional filter to your single-filter matte box setup. This Hot Mirror 2 filter blocks infrared light and UV light from passing through to your sensor, reducing IR leak, and enhancing color accuracy, even more than the original Hot Mirror.

The filter glass features an antireflective multicoating, making the filter dust, scratch, and water resistant. It is designed to increase the transmission of light through the lens to the sensor, and it helps reduce flares and ghosting. A separately available mag mount accessory is required for attaching the filter to the camera.

[Aluminum, Glass] I use a wide range of lenses, from cheap primes to large zooms, and my filter sizes vary across the range. With these clip-in filters, I can attach ND filters and shoot video with both RF and adapted EF lenses with no issues.

This 3 stop ND was perfect for shooting a music video outside in sunny Los Angeles, and the 1/8 Mist had just a hint of glow to highlights without killing the contrast.

I own all three 1/8 mist (0-stop, 3-stop, and 6-stop), and I have one in my camera at all times. Looking to try the 1/4 mist at some point to compare.

[Aluminum, Glass] This filter is a must-have to protect your camera sensor from getting dirty, it is of superb quality. Definitely a must-have.

[Aluminum, Glass] It is a filter with the appropriate settings for use in both photos and videos, especially when the sunlight is not strong or the day is cloudy. Additionally, its internal use makes it convenient by eliminating the need to recalibrate a gimbal when removing or attaching it. It has a minimal impact on the white balance, which is very easy to correct. Highly convenient as with just one filter, I can use an infinite variety of lenses.

[Aluminum, Glass] I had my Sony DSC-R1 camera modified for taking pictures in Infrared light. Rather than having the visible light blocking filter replace the original hot mirror filter in front of the sensor, I had it replaced by glass transparent to IR through UV. This way I can use the camera for normal photography as well as IR and UV. My only problem is that the Tiffen Hot Mirror filter that I bought to be able to take color photos in visible light has no blue tinge, as do all the sensor hot mirror filters I've ever seen. This means that my color balance is shifted to the tungsten side. I had to do a white balance in manual mode on the camera because I can't adjust white balance in Auto, where I admittedly do much of my shooting. Not a BIG problem, but an unexpected one. Otherwise, it's great!

[Aluminum, Glass] This filter is easy to put in and easy to remove. The mounting mechanism works really well and the all metal construction is very durable. The filter itself is high quality and works very well. Kolari customer service is also fantastic.

[Aluminum, Glass] I decided on the 3-stop version because I was looking for a little help during sunny days and this has worked perfectly. The magnet slaps right on place and is easy to remove with anything that has a thin corner like a guitar pick or a credit card. No more ND filters dependent on diameter size!

[Aluminum, Glass] I have only tested this filter on my Lifepixel-modified Canon R6 (v1), but I like it already. It produces some really interesting color combinations that my other Lifepixel IR filters do not. Samples below are with custom white balance in-camera.

[Aluminum, Glass] This filter case is made well and the magnetic latch is secure. I have not tried a drop test but I see no need to.

[Aluminum, Glass] I've been using the Kolari Vision IR Chrome Lens Filter on my IR full spectrum modified Sony a7iii with the 24mm G-Master lens. In order to achieve the vibrant red foliage colors with realistic blue skies and other colors, it is critical to have the correct custom white balance. At least with the Sony this required some experimentation as the usual gray card setting makes green foliage more orange than red (see photo), and this is very hard to correct in Lightroom. With my Sony, getting vibrant red foliage pushed the hues of other colors off a bit. Your experience may differ as I'm betting it's a function of the color algorithms in the specific camera being used. I did find that desaturating all color channels except blue can be any easy way to get b&w IR images with nice blue skies (see photo). Like all filters, plan to play with it a while to see how it affects your images under various circumstances.
