Custom-fit to select Sony a1 and a7 cameras, this raven black Kondor Blue Base Rig MK II Sony a1 a7 Series Raven Blackfrom Kondor Blue Base Rig MK II Sony a1 a7 Series Raven Blackadds multiple mounting points for configuring your rig. The cage still maintains access to your camera's ports and controls. Multiple 1/4"-20 and 3/8"-16 threads with ARRI locating pins all around the cage allow you to attach articulating arms and adapters.

A cold shoe at the top of the cage can accommodate a wireless receiver or shotgun microphone. Two NATO rails can attach other accessories like the separately available top handle for even more mounting options and a start-stop record button. A built-in Arca-Swiss plate system secures the camera in the cage and offers a quick release configuration.

A: Sorry, no the Sony Vertical Battery Grip for Alpha a7 II will not fit this cage. Generally for video, battery grips are avoided with external battery solutions being preferred. Having a large V-mount battery on the back of the rig has been found to be much better for weight distribution with the added advantage of having power for other accessories such as a light, a recorder, a monitor etc, etc.

Q: 4. Can you still charge batteries while in the grip by using the cameras USB port?

A: Tested on A7RIV. Results: Slot 1 with OEM battery, shows percentage. Slot 2 with generic third-party battery, no percentage. Depending on the manufacturer of your battery, the results may vary.

[1x Cold Shoe] This cage is amazing, the quality is fantastic, the modular design is incredibly useful. Kondor Blue has the best customer service I've ever experienced. I had a package stolen over Xmas and while the company didn't have to do anything, they generously replaced my cage at no extra cost. Truly a first rate company, I will be a customer for life. 5

[1.5 lb] Solid build, no wiggle. Looks nice and provides the necessary mounting points and stability for a wide variety of scenarios. Works well with the VR lens too- everything is behind the lens, so no obstructions. 5

[Cage] Excellent piece of hardware. My only criticism is that I wish it was quicker to attach and remove from a camera cage for rebuilds. But that might compromise it's integrity and am ok with that for now. 5

[1x Cold Shoe] I will need to attach the XLR-K3M audio module, and 1-2 wireless receivers to my Sony A7S iii. With the Kondor Blue handle attached, I don't see the clearance to attach the XLR-K3M directly to the hot shoe, but I plan (do not have the module yet) to use an extender cable, and fit the XLR-K3M on a cold shoe, and there seems clearance for that. The red button on the handle will start/stop video on the camera. With the cable plugged in, the flippy screen will not rotate completely, however there seems to be enough rotation to look down on the screen when the camera is held at waist level. BTW even with a HDMI cable plugged in, I believe the screen can still be tilted some. Battery, plug, and media doors open fine. This cage is held in place through the camera's tripod mount. The cage can be slipped on and off quickly, but you will need to remove the lens first. There is no ready-made way to use the handle at 90 deg to the camera, however I suppose it could be done with the addition of a cold shoe, as that is what the handle fits. Kondor Blue includes two hex keys and a screwdriver/bottle opener tool. 5

[Arca-Type Plate] Most cages for the Canon R5 C (and R5) block your path to change the filter in the Canon filter adapter. This cage leaves that path open. It additionally is build very solid and the quality is excellent. 5

[1.5 lb] This inexpensive piece attaches via a 1/4 20” and saves you the need to hold that extra gear. Mounting the cold shoe plate to the side of your camera or gear cage is like having another arm, and saves you from a jumbled mess. For $10, this is a must have for folks who use cold shoe mounts daily. 5

[1x Cold Shoe] The specs show that the package is 4 long. Why I would care I don't know. The plate itself is very short, 1.95 / 50mm long. If you are planning to add a second screw and mount it in two places, you have exactly 1.37 / 35mm screw center to screw center to mount both. My smallrig universal large cage doesn't have screws that close together on the bottom. Worth measuring. 5
