Designed for astrophotography but also great for observation, the ZWO FF80 APO Telescope OTA | Astronomical Opticsfrom ZWO FF80 APO Telescope OTA | Astronomical Opticsfeatures a quadruplet air-spaced apochromatic lens system that eliminates the need to use a separate field flattener. The quad APO with two extra-low dispersion elements also dramatically reduces chromatic aberration and eliminates the need to calculate back focus distance—just attach your camera with one of the four included adapters and you're ready for imaging. The f/7.5 focal ratio and 600mm focal length lend themselves to both planetary and deep-sky photography. An optional diagonal and eyepieces are required for visual use.

[600 mm] Exquisite optics and mechanical construction. Built to the level of quality expected in professional scientific instruments. 85mm aperture is perfect balance between portability and adequate light gathering power for most viewing situations. Haven’t used it much yet because of winter weather, but views of M42 exhibited high contrast with excellent resolution of 4 Trapezium stars at 67x. Views of the moon are very crisp and richly detailed along the terminator.

[f/7.5] This is an heirloom-quality telescope. The optics are extremely clear - literally transparent. I've wanted one for 20 years but could not afford one in my youth. Now that I have it, I wish I would have sacrificed back then and had 20 years of viewing with younger eyes. So many purchases I've made in those years that ended up in the garbage or on eBay when I could have enjoyed looking at the planets and deep sky objects. This is one of the few items I hear people regret selling and end up purchasing a second time. If I were to break it or have it stolen, I would buy it again with no hesitation.

[14.09 lb] Great scope, so far for watching only. I can imagine how good it is for photography.

[Losmandy Style] Earlier today, April 1, I submitted a 4-star review about the flimsy solar filter included with the Seestar S50 Smart Telescope. The filter material had popped out of the ring, I contacted ZWO Customer Service and much later in the day they responded with instructions on how to put the filter back into the ring-holder. Though the filter repair worked, I had already ordered 2 replacement solar filters from another ZWO dealer, the filter is made of delicate material. ZWO responded with a photo and instructions showing how the filter can be repaired. I have amended my review to 5 stars, the extra star for good customer service.

[Refractor] The performance of this little scope is incredible, especially when you consider the cost compared to building your own smart scope. The clear skies have been a bit rare lately, but I was able to get in a couple of nights sessions of about 45 minutes and imaged M51, even with only a relatively short amount of imaging, the picture produced was great.

[14.09 lb] The Seestar is one really cool and fun telescope. The solar eclipse was a week away and I seen this on the B&H so I ordered it. It was here with in a few days way before the eclipse. Unfortunately the weather did not cooperate it rain that day. So I did not get to use it for the eclipse. So after 3 weeks of clouds, snow and rain. I finally got one clear day and night. So I did manage to get some great shots of the moon and sun and one of M51 Galaxy. M51 not the best shot but that was my fault. This was only about 20 min of shooting and I did not save all the pictures to work with. This is one of the easiest Telescopes you can use. And B&H is one of the easiest place to order it from or anything for that fact. Fast delivery and great product. It takes me about a hour to set up my camera and tracker. The Seestar about 15 min and im taking great shot. If you or your child loves astronomy. This is the great starting place for a telescope. I'm a photographer and I do a lot of night sky photography like the Milky Way. One of my shots in the gallery called Kissing Rock. This is really not good for the Milky Ways pictures. But for deep space pictures like nebulas and Galaxy's and cheap. This is the way to go. And B&H is one way to go for ordering it too. The only big downside with this is. When you get the Seestar. Be prepared for a lot of clouds and maybe lot if rain lol. It is the curse of getting a telescope lol. But when it clears up. Be prepared for a lot of fun in learning the night sky. This is so easy to use. The only hard thing is if you want to do more process on your pictures you take you can. For a newbie of the night sky. Wall worth the money. And for easy ordering B&H well worth the place to go.
Clear Skies to all.

[14.09 lb] I have many astronomical telescopes and this one has become one of my favorites,! Powerful and very handy to use, easy to balance on the mount, and having crisp clear optics is an important plus! Very fine optics from Vixen in Japan. Awesome product!

[14.09 lb] My purchase was an impulse buy and I was thrilled that B&H had them available.

After a few small purchases and having great experiences, they really came through with their excellent customer service and lightning fast shipping!

After all the positive reviews and how-to’s I watched about the Seestar, I wanted to see if lived up to them.

It does!

It’s truly a “point and shoot” solution for astrophotography and being very much of a beginner, it couldn’t have been simpler to set up and get great first results.

At its price point, it can bring the wonders of the night sky to almost everyone, no matter your experience level!

I couldn’t be happier with it and I look forward to putting it thru its paces in the near future!

[f/7.5] Hello there... I'll start with this... I had watched a number of YouTube vids on this unit and I thought I knew what to expect. I received more than that. Honestly in my short time with the scope I have fallen in love with astronomy again. It's magical. The Seestar S50 works as advertised! Been awhile since I purchased something that delivered as I'd hoped... BTW-- I am in Denver. We're severely light polluted. The scope shows me things I cannot see naked eye. I believe I'm just barely scratching the surface of what it can do. Some folks says it's a toy. I vehemently disagree. It's a quality instrument. Take a look out there and see what people are doing with this 500 dollar instrument. The tech here is impressive. I have already taken a few photo's (and have more to be tuned up) and they are exciting to me! Check on YouTube for a wealth of highly informative Seestar S50 usage tutorials and tutorials on photo editors of which many are free. B&H were (as they always have been) super professional, helpful and polite. The experience was superb. No regrets... I wish you all clear skies! :)
