Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Does this come with any reels?

A: This tank does not come with any reels.

Q: 2. Can you use Patterson reels in a Jobo tank?

A: The Jobo Four Reel Tank for 35mm and 120/220 Film will only fit this Jobo reel: https://bhpho.to/3VPdW1C

Q: 3. Does this come with the center column?

A: This includes a center column, but no reel. The manufacturer recommends this reel for use with this tank: Jobo Adjustable Reel for 35mm, 120 & 220 Film for 1500 Series Tanks (BH# JOR1500) https://bhpho.to/39TsgzA

Q: 4. Will the catlabs 8x10 reel work in this tank?

A: No, the CatLABS CL81: an 8X10 Sheet Film Processing Reel is made specific for the Jobo MultiTank 5. Not the Paterson Super System 4 Multi-Reel 8 Developing Tank. This is the link to the Jobo 2550 Multi Tank 5 (640mL), https://bhpho.to/3plCZu0 .

Q: 5. will this tank also take a second 35mm reel?

A: This tank can only hold one reel. To use two reels, you need the Paterson Universal Tank with Two Reels (Super System 4), B&H # PAUT2R

Q: 6. how many exposures can fit on a reel?

A: The most it will handle is a 36 exposures of a 35 mm film! No medium format

Q: 7. How many millilitres does it take to fill the Multi-Reel 8 Tank?

A: The standard rule of thumb is 10 oz (300 ml) for each 35 mm plastic reel, or 2400 ml or 80 oz. It's a good idea to add a little more chemistry than that. Even if you have 7 rolls of film, you must add the 8th reel and the chemistry to reflect 8 reels to make sure no light leaks in the gap.Or, you may use 5 rolls of 120 film to fill this tank. Each reel requires 500 ml (17 oz), for 5 rolls 2.5 liters (85 oz). Any other combination of 120 and 35: before loading, stack your reels and make sure the funnel locks in place. If too high, the funnel won't lock in place. Don't do it. You won't have a tight seal and you will leak light and fog your film, or worse.

Q: 8. my reel isn’t fitting 35mm film, it keeps falling off of the reel when i try to use it?? i’ve tried this with ilford and kodak and neither fit?

A: Unfortunately, that does not seem to be typical with the Paterson reels and could be due to a faulty product or user error. I'd recommend practicing with a previously developed or unimportantly roll of 35mm with the lights on just to see if you can get it to work. If not, please give us a call or live-chat and we can figure out this issue together.

Q: 9. Does the item contain center column, funnel and agitator?

A: Yes. It contains all of these. It just doesn't include the spools.

Q: 10. Does this include a funnel and agitation tube?

A: It comes with a Paterson 35mm Tank with Reel (Super System 4) and a 35mm plastic reel. A funnel and agitation tube are not included.

[Plastic] Imagine farting or screaming into this thing. I don't even own this one but I own a bunch of smaller ones and I can tell you from experience that this one would be 500 times more fun. They all work great so I'm sure this one would be just as fantastic. One day I'll own one, and I'll post a more thorough review.

[15.335 lb] I just used my 8 reel tank for the first time yesterday. It was great being able to develop multiple rolls of film...what a time saver. Only a word of caution and this is on the side of human error....if you are processing less than the number of reels for the tank...use full amounts of product or make sure your reels are pushed all the way down to the bottom of the tank. :O)

[Plastic] I bought this for the 35mm stainless reels available. They are fantastic. I later ended up using the plastic reels to double up 120 film which is so much more convenient than one-strip-per-reel of Patterson. The double strip method can be tricky to load, but it's so nice to have 4 rolls done at once.

[Plastic] I use this tank to develop 120 and 4x5 film. It allows me to do five reels of 120 or 12 sheets of 4x5 using two mod 54 reels. Development is even, and there is no scratching. It is a little bulky, but that's not too much of a problem.

[15.335 lb] In watching YouTube videos, I didn't really believe it was as easy to use as it seemed. Everything fits together well and the parts are optimised for working in a bag or in the dark.

[15.335 lb] I use the tank to develop B&W and color 120mm rolls. Like all other tanks by Paterson this tank is great. From experience make sure you fill it with 2.5L of chemicals and rinse well by shaking the tank not just poor water in.
