Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Does this microphone work well with a Tascsm DR-22WL audio recorder?

A: Yes it will. It connects into the recorder's 3.5mm audio input port.

Q: 2. Is this mic stereo or mono?

A: The Rode VideoMic is a mono shotgun mic.

Q: 3. I am getting a static like sound at times and wonder what the source may be?

A: Random static sounds my be due to a possible defection in the cabling connecting the mic to the camera /recorder, or a loose connection of the jack entering the recording device.

Q: 4. Is this microphone compatible with the Canon XA10 Camcorder?

A: No problem at all - just plug and play with the included cable.

Q: 5. This doesn't work with my d5200 Nikon camera but it seems to have the correct input thingy, I don't know what is wrong?

A: The Rode VideoMic is compatible with the D5200. It is difficult to determine what your issue may be. You may check the battery is fresh and inserted correctly into the mic, and powered on. You can also check that the cable is fully inserted into the camera, and audio settings are correct in your camera.

Q: 6. Does it work on G1 Markiii?

A: No. Canon's G1 X Mark III does not have an input to connect an external microphone. However, you can use a separate audio recorder to capture audio using the Rode VideoMic and then sync the audio with the camera's video in post production.

Q: 7. Will this fit the Videomic Pro+ ?

A: No, this Rycote Mini Windjammer is intended for use with a different mic. For the VideoMic Pro+, you can use the Rycote Mini Windjammer for Rode VMP+ (B&H # RY055470) or Rode DeadCat VMPR+ Artificial Fur Windshield for VideoMic Pro Plus Microphone (B&H # RODEADCATVPP).

Q: 8. Is this compatible with iPhone with adapter?

A: Yes, you can use the Rode VideoMic with an iPhone. Use Rode's SC4 adapter (B&H# ROSC4) to convert the 3.5mm TRS connector on the mic's cable to 3.5mm TRRS, and then attach Apple's Lightning to 3.5mm adapter (B&H# APLAADAP) to convert the 3.5mm TRRS plug to Lightning for compatibility with the iPhone.

Q: 9. I am starting to do interview type video and want to improve my sound. Will I be able to use this mic on my 5DIV's and also on a boom placed over the subject or would I be better off buying a lapel mic?

A: A boom mic, such as this model, is usually considered the best option for audio quality of your productions, especially if you do boom the mic in close to the subject. The Rode VideoMic & Micro Boompole Kit with Custom Windbuster, BH #ROVMRK4 would provide you with the cable extension required, as well as an outdoor windscreen at a reasonable bundle price.

Q: 10. I tried using this with my Nikon D3500 and it doesn't seem to work?

A: The Rode VideoMic is compatible with cameras that feature a 1/8 input jack. This mic is compatible with the Nikon D5300.

[0.12 lb] I use this furry windjammer on an Audio Technica BP4025, and it works out better than the Rycote Mini Windjammer. This Special 105 is larger and has a better closure system. Highly recommend it for outdoor field recordings.

[8.75 x 4.5 x 2"] I have two main thoughts with this product... 1. It is easy to install/take off the Rode VideoMic pro. I read reviews on other dead cats, have used other dead cats, and this one is a breeze to use. I don't feel like I'm destroying the mic while attempt to put this one on. 2. It provides adequate noise reduction. I think you're setting yourself up for failure if you think you'll get superior noise reduction out of this or any other dead cat for this mic. For superior noise reduction it may be best to get a boom mic/blimp setup. Most of the time I use the VideoMic pro/mini windjammer for my reference track. If it's you're only source of audio, you may look at a more elaborate set up.

[8.75 x 4.5 x 2"] I can't really complain as it came with my Rode VideoMic Pro. It does cut down wind a bit. It's better than not having it and I'm glad I got it.

[0.12 lb] Purchased this to improve the filming of outdoor interviews and events. This product dramatically reduced the pops and whirls I was getting in my sound files. An added bonus is the low price for the quality of gear you are getting. Would recommend to anyone doing documentary work or event filming.
