The Rycote WS 6 Windshield Kit for XLR-5Ffrom Rycote WS 6 Windshield Kit for XLR-5Fis suitable for stereo microphones from from 351mm up to 400mm in length and 19-34mm diameter with a 5-pin XLR connector.

It is designed to accommodate situations in which maximum isolation from wind and handling noise is required. This complete modular system can be configured to allow almost any microphone to be shock-mounted and provided with varying degrees of wind-shielding.

The modular suspension provides complete isolation against handling noise and cable-borne noises, by supporting the microphone in a cradle arrangement using Lyre suspension webs. The Windjammer is high a quality synthetic fur cover, designed to fit perfectly over the Modular Windshield. It gives an additional 20dB of wind noise attenuation. Fitted with a drawstring & toggle to allow snug and easy fitting.

[50 dB] I am a professional sound mixer, and am using this Rycote system to house a Sennheiser MKH-50 and a Schoeps CMC641 microphone.I have always used Rycote systems on all my field microphones over the years. They are durable and effective windshield/shock mount systems.Rycote has consistently made improvements to their designs over the years, and this current Lyre incarnation is no exception. I believe that their Lyre suspension coupled with their Connbox is the most effective shock mount/suspension system to date.Quality materials and workmanship throughout, I highly recommend Rycote to any serious professional or enthusiast. 5

[3 lb] I needed wind protection for my sennheiser ME-80 for a location shoot on a boat on a coastal waterway. ... I don't think anything less would have provided the wind protection needed and the audio came out prestine. 5

[3 lb] Bought this for my Schoeps CMC641 and it certainly works. It's my first Rycote that measures less than the standard short shotgun length (WS4/WS295). It leaves a little room lengthwise for the Collete amp/capsule array, so part of me wishes that it has been customized by 1/2 an inch or something to make an even smaller blimp, but whatever. It's Rycote quality and the suspension / basket are my favorite design for location work. For those Schoeps folks looking for a blimp/suspension for their dialogue rigs, it does seem as though this is Rycotes answer to houseing the cmcs, mkh 50, and maybe the CS-1. Seems the smaller kits are meant for other mics. This one is perfect. 5

[3 lb] This windshield and windjammer by rycote is very durable and easily fits the Sennheiser MKH-416 Microphone. It filters out a lot of wind noise with little coloration to the overall quality of the audio. This specific one is designed just for the 416 and works great with any boom pole. 5

[3 lb] Works great and does what it's supposed to do. It's also easy to setup. If you want to take your audio to next level you going to need this. Fragile feel to it can be deceiving. It flexes easily but I don't think it breaks very easy. It's light which is really good because having something like this on the end of your boom pole can get really tiring after a short while. 5

[3 lb] I used this Rycote Windshield Kit 4 for the first time on an outdoor video project on a very breezy day. It nearly eliminated all wind sounds from the captured audio. My only (small) issue was the difficulty in removing the blimp's end caps the first couple of times. This was a temporary condition, though. As soon as the locking mechanism loosened a bit, I could twist it apart without too much effort. The inclusion of a retractable brush to groom the dead cat is a cool feature, as well. 5
