Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. For live streaming Can you connect the usb directly to your laptop or Do you have to have game card reader(elgato or something else)? Using your 65' Usb extension, will there be a lapse in communications between camera and computer?

A: A capture card is not needed to live stream. Using the free Open Broadcaster Caster software to broadcast directly, you will be able to stream without a capture card. For a single USB 2.0 cables, the max length is 5 meters. For a single USB 3.0/3.1 cables, the recommended max length is 3 meters. In order to extend your USB cable length, we recommend using a self-powered USB hub, active (repeater) cables, or USB over Ethernet unit to extend the USB range.

Q: 2. What wired remote works with this camera?

A: The Panasonic Remote Camera Controller is the most affordable of about four controllers we suggest for the Panasonic AW-HE40HW. Please see below. If you have any additional questions, please either chat B&H Phone: 800.606.6969 or 212.444.6615 International phone number 001.212.444.6615 or email us. provideo@a href= http://bhphotovideo.com target= _blank bhphotovideo.com./a

Q: 3. I currently have 3 AW-HE60HN models. How will this model compare and can I control it with the AW-RP50 Remote Camera Controller and the AW-RM50 Wireless Remote Control?

A: The AW-HE40HK is clearly superior for it has a much larger sensor, a 1/2.3 vs. 1/3 for increased image quality. You also get a much longer 30x optical zoom vs. a 18x. You can control it with the two controls you mention. You also have the great flexibility of controlling it from a remote location via a Web browser via its IP address.

Q: 4. can you imbed sound from an external source with this camera?

A: No you can not.

Q: 5. Does it ship with a power supply

A: An AC :to 12 VDC adapter is included in the box.

Q: 6. can this camera be controlled from a remote location via internet?

A: Yes, it can be controlled though a web browser if set up on a network.

Q: 7. Has anyone used this camera connected to a Tricaster Mini? Can the Pan Tilt and Zoom be controlled by the IP connector? Thank you!

A: Yes, you can do so with an Tricaster Mini. Access up to 4 live Pan-Tilt-Zoom (PTZ) robotic cameras via standard serial and network protocols, with native preset system and user interface control over camera orientation, zoom, focus and iris.

Q: 8. PoE+ switches have a max WATT limit. What is the WATT budget required for a PoE+ hub to connect up to 4 of these cameras? I can't find anywhere the max WATT a camera needs when powered over Ethernet.

A: Specifications on Panasonic web site indicates Power requirements for PoE+ power supply is DC 42V to 57V and Current consumption of 0.4A per camera. Using an online calculator, that brings up the Watts requirement to about 23W. So for 4 cameras, a 100W switch should be sufficient. I got the Linksys 24-Port Business Gigabit PoE+ Switch (LGS124P) which supports 120W and I have 4 PoE+ Panasonic cameras hooked up to it and have not had problems. Switch fan is kind of loud though.

Q: 9. Does anyone know of a good resource for modifying the default settings to get the best image quality from this camera?

A: Once the camera is hooked up to your system, you can access the camera's settings to the ones you choose.

Q: 10. How does one compensate for the changing aperture at different focal lengths? I'm assuming the only way to do it is to have it auto-expose and gain up when you zoom in. Is the gain clean?

A: We have not had a problem with relying on the auto-iris at different focal lengths. We usually us it that way as we have a variety of system operators, but have not seen any reason to tweak the gain.
