Isolate your subject against the background and capture longer-range coverage using the white Canon RF-mount IRIX 150mm T3.0 Telephoto Cine Lens Canon RF Feet Whitefrom IRIX. Covering up to full-frame size sensors, this longer prime incorporates a redesigned focusing mechanism that enables more precise pulls in the 6.6' to infinity range. External features include a 95mm front diameter, 0.8 MOD gears, luminous focus marks in feet, and a detachable 1/4"-20 support foot. Internally, 11 rounded iris blades produce smooth bokeh, and multiple seals protect against inclement weather and dust.

To help eliminate aberrations and distortion, the 150mm IRIX telephoto is constructed with four HRI (high refractive index) and three ED (extra-low dispersion) elements. This lens is compatible with the magnetically stacking MMS system for filters and lens shades and has an 86mm front filter thread.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Can one interchange lens mounts on these lenses?

A: At this time, Irix is not made user swapable mounts available.

Q: 2. Will Irix release L, Z, and RF mount lenses in their regular photography line of lenses?

A: We have not heard of any imminent plans for those particular lens mount options.

Q: 3. What is the weight of this lens?

A: 2.43 lb (1.1kg)

Q: 4. Would I be able to put a clip on mattbox on this lens to use a polarizer or would that vignette?

A: The diameter of the front of the IRIX 11mm T4.3 Cine Lens (Canon EF, Feet) (B&H# IRC11EFI) -- not to be confused with the filter size -- is 95mm which is a very common size to which to attach a matte box. Yes, it would be possible to do so. Given the ultra wide nature of the field of view, however, there will of course be at least some amount of vignetting regardless of the size of the filter, but that is unavoidable.

Q: 5. In a BMPCC 6K Pro camera, this 11mm equals to what mm?

A: The IRIX 11mm Lens on the BMPCC 6K Pro will become roughly a 16.5mm lens.

Q: 6. Do these no longer communicate EXIF data as with the original Irix lenses?

A: Yes, the lens offer fully manual focus but with electronic iris control and metadata.

Q: 7. Is this lens suitable for still photography as well as for video?

A: While the IRIX 150mm T3.0 Macro 1:1 Lens is designed for Cinema use it would also be perfect for still photography. Keep in mind it is a manual lens with no autofocus or stabilization.

Q: 8. Does anybody have any insight on this lens vs a Venus laowa 12mm zero d 2.9?

A: The IRIX 11mm T4.3 Cine Lens (Canon EF, Feet) (B&H# IRC11EFI) is slightly wider but lets less light enter. The Venus Optics Laowa 12mm T2.9 Zero-D Cine Lens (Canon EF) (B&H# VE1229CC) is sharper and faster.

Q: 9. So, has this been updated to work on Arri and Sony PL mounts? Reviews here say it won't work on either.

A: There is no difference between the PL mount on an ARRI or SONY camera, so if this is not mounting properly or not at all, there may be a manufacturing issue, but this is not something we have seen before these occurrences referenced here.

Q: 10. Why no Nikon F mount then it could be adapted to more than one camera!?

A: I am sorry to say we are not aware of the reason why IRIX does not make this lens with a Nikon F mount.

[1:1] 15mm on S35 is great. I thought this would be too wide and wished IRIX made a 25 or 35 but actually to compliment the existing 45 they sell this 15 is a good match feeling wide but not super distorted wide. Magnetic hoods are cool, but not so much if you are filming metalworking - all the dust just sits on those magnets. Minor quibble but the lens is great!

[Full Frame] I've been shooting with this lens on my RED Helium, but I also use it for stills with my A7III. The focus throw is smooth and long, and there is little breathing between short distances or between long distances (although, as expected, if you pull from a couple inches away to infinity, there is a transition where it breathes heavily). It feels well made and the images are very sharp.

[Full Frame] Feels solid, but isn't overly heavy. Image quality is great and distortion is reasonable. I shoot it both full frame and S35 and it handles both well.

As others have said, it's true that the lens cap is wonky. Apparently they have a fixed one that you can order separately and hopefully that's what will ship with new copies of the lens.

I use it via an adapter and did have a little trouble finding a friendly one. Fotodiox PL-EF did NOT work. I eventually went with some no-names on eBay that did.

[1:1] I shoot surgical/medical and thus needed that reach (compared to the Rokinon 100mm macro I was using before) in order to remain non-invasive to a health care professional's space. I also wanted a cine version of a macro so this was perfect and really there is no other option other than another 100mm macro cine lens.
The images coming from my Fuji X-T3 with this lens are fantastic (rigged as shown using an EF to X-mount adapter). Feels like a solid lens. Not a fan of the magnetic hood but I use a matte box so no biggie. Lens cap and mount cover do suck, they feel like they could break from a drop. Focus ring is smooth but the iris ring is much looser in comparison, I wish they had the same tension.

[T3] For the price, this lens rocks! If it were three times the price it would still rock! There’s plenty of YouTube video reviews of technical specs, but creatively, I found that this lens gave me a cinematic (subjective, I know), shallow depth of field with crisp focus. Definitely need a focus-puller and stability, but even without the latter, you can pull off some interesting shots. This will be a holy grail lens for product filmmakers, but it’s extremely capable of pulling off some narrative shots.

[11, Rounded] The image shows a close up of a Lego set using the IRIX 150mm lens. In that picture you can see the small rigs in the gray plastic that is not visible by just looking at it.

[Full Frame] What this LENS CAN DO IN Macro is MINDBLOWING!

[Canon RF] Excellent for detail shots. It works as a telephoto lens but focus pull is way to fine beyond a couple of feet away from subject to really rack focus, so I would not recommend using this as a telephoto unless you can fix focus. No complaints as a macro lens though.

[1:1] Switching to the IRIX 150mm T3.0 Macro 1:1 Cine Lens from the Canon 100mm macro photo lens significantly enhanced my macro videography capabilities. The added 50mm focal length allows for closer, more detailed shots and a comfortable working distance, ideal for intricate scenes. This lens incorporates cinema-grade features, including a T3.0 aperture for superb performance in various lighting conditions, and precise control over focus and aperture, elevating the cinematic quality of your footage.

The lens's build is both durable and weather-sealed, ready for any shooting environment. Its sharpness is a standout feature, delivering crystal-clear images that showcase the finest details of your subject. This sharpness, alongside the extended focal length and cinema functionality, makes the IRIX 150mm a significant upgrade for filmmakers seeking to advance their macro cinematography. It's a powerful tool that combines creativity, control, and quality, making it an excellent choice for anyone looking to step up their macro video production.
