The Taiko is Luxli's most powerful light to date, with an output of 15,500 lux, which is more than 3.5 times more powerful than Luxli's Timpani 1x1 LED. This means the lights can be moved further back and still cast brilliant light. With the diffuser installed, the Taiko's output is 9800 lux, still more than twice the output of the Timpani, while reducing the harshness of the direct raw light output.

The highly accurate and versatile RGBAW LEDs open a whole new range of creative possibilities. Color mixing with these LEDs means higher accuracy and stable lux output, regardless of settings. The "A" and "W" in RGBAW stand for alternating amber and white, 3000 and 6000K color temperature LEDs, respectively. And thanks to the amber and white LEDs, brightness and accuracy applies to any color temperature. Adjusting the white point in RGB Mode allows more precise color matching with tungsten or HMI fixtures.

You won't need to spend your time at the computer, color-correcting your shots. With an average TLCI/CRI rating of 98/95 across the entire color temperature range, the Taiko's color output is extremely accurate.

Every Taiko is individually calibrated and tested before it leaves the factory. A serialized photometric calibration result sheet is included with every light that lists the lux output, CRI, TLCI, and color gamut of your light.

Building on the innovative features introduced with Luxli’s Timpani 1X1, the Taiko offers adjustment modes that will take your lighting to the next level. The Taiko’s color adjustment modes are accessible from the onboard control panel or via the Composer App and will illuminate your subject with any hue of light you can imagine.

  • The traditional CCT mode allows you to accurately adjust your color temperature from 2800 to 10,000K in 50K increments with incredible accuracy.
  • RGB mode lets you select colors with incredible accuracy. You can set the base white point from 3000 to 10,000K and then use the RGB color wheel to dial up almost any color by adjusting hue and saturation levels in 1° increments.
  • In Filter mode, set your white balance in CCT mode, and then select between 150 Lee gels. The Taiko displays the color, taking your CCT temperature setting into account.
  • Effects mode offers ten preprogrammed special effects with adjustable parameters for incredibly realistic lighting effects.

The ORC-TAIKO-D90 medium-strength diffuser is included with the Taiko. It softens and smooths the beam for a diffuse, wraparound light that flatters your subjects. Lighter- and heavier-strength diffusers are available separately.

The built-in LCD screen offers a simple and intuitive interface. Easily adjust brightness and color, and switch between the RGB, filter, CCT, and special effects modes with the touch of a button.

The powerful Composer mobile app is available for iOS and Android devices. While connected via Bluetooth, you can link together all your Luxli Orchestra-series lights. Whether you're controlling your lights in unison or individually, you'll have a whole symphony of lights at your command.

For studio applications, the Taiko supports DMX 512 via a 5-pin XLR connector, and it's equipped to fit into any lighting grid or studio setting. And Luxli will keep you up to date on the latest DMX protocols at Luxlilight.com.

You'll get the exact same power output whether you run the Taiko with AC or two V-mount batteries, The Taiko's efficient power draw means you won't need a portable generator just to use your light. The Taiko delivers the same power and quality whether you're shooting in the studio or in the field because there's no power drop-off when it's running on battery power.

The Taiko's highly efficient 250-watt power draw enables high-power output without employing fans to prevent overheating. Since the Taiko has no internal moving parts, it's a silent partner in the studio, and your mics won't pick up any fan noise when you're recording dialog or ambient sound.

The Taiko includes a newly designed yoke with a 5/8" receiver for convenient light stand mounting, as well as single-sided release and adjustment for the ultimate control over mounting and adjusting your light.

Ten realistic effects are programmed into the Taiko that will add realism to your scene and take your lighting to a new dimension:

• CCT Chase: A continuous loop between two color temperatures. You can adjust the start and stop color temperatures, how long the loop will last, and add or subtract green.

• Color Chase: A continuous loop between two preset colors. You can adjust the start and stop colors and saturation, and how long the loop will last.

• Explosion: Simulates an explosion. You can adjust explosion frequency per minute and how long each explosion lasts.

• Fire: Simulates a fire. You can choose between a candle, campfire, or bonfire, and whether there is no wind, a breeze, wind, or a storm.

• Fireworks: Creates a random burst of colors to simulate fireworks. You can adjust the frequency per minute of the fireworks, and the duration of each burst.

• Lightning: Simulates lightning. You can adjust the color temperature of the flashes and the length of time between each flash.

• Paparazzi: Simulates the random firing of multiple camera flashes. You can adjust the number of flashes per second, the duration of each flash, color temperature, and add or subtract green.

• Pulse: Creates a steady pulse that fades on and off between pulses. You can adjust the color and saturation of the pulses, and the frequency per minute.

• Siren: Simulates emergency lights. You can choose between red/blue/white, red/blue, red/white, blue/white, blue, red, or SAE amber sirens. You can also set how many times each color will flash per cycle, how many times it will repeat, and flash duration.

• Strobe: Creates a steady, flashing strobe (this one doesn’t fade like the pulse). You can adjust the color and saturation of the pulses, the number of strobes per minute, and the duration of each strobe.

The Taiko's split-panel effect mode is accessible from the Composer app. It can split select Taiko animated effects between the two panels and add depth and realism to the effect. So, when simulating the aftermath of an accident or a large group of paparazzi photographing a celebrity, the dual-panel mode will bring even more realism to your scene.

Luxli is always working to improve the Orchestra-Series LED lights. We'll let you know when the latest firmware updates are available. Connect the Taiko's USB port to your computer for the latest performance-enhancing features the minute they're available.

[Proprietary] I was looking at the Nova and compared specs, battery options, quality and portability and these panels check all the boxes. I have bought two of these now! With two amount 190 wh battery I can run at full power about 2 hr if needed. Generally I never have to run this past about 40 - 60% output.

[Proprietary] This panel is the nicest panel I have ever owned. CCT / RGB / FX / POWER.

How can a piece of lighting be so complex and at the same time so ridiculously easy to use? So pretty as well...

Everything about control is right in front of you in the large 3x2 LCD display, fully colorful.

The LUXLI Composer App takes it even to another level of control and customization, also allowing you to do some live expressive things as it is incredibly responsive.

Unlike many Apps, the LUXLI All just WORKS. No crashing, no freezing, no nonsense. Just things that are supposed to be there, extremely intuitive, organized and mirrors every single thing you can do from the Taiko in there and beyond. Every page is as well designed as the light.

I can go ALL DAY talking about this light. Totally in love with it. My dream LIGHT!

But why read when I made a YouTube video EXCLUSIVELY for the LUXLI Taiko! That's over 1 HOUR of a review / tutorial / demo, showing every single feature of this light, including firmware update tutorials and MORE! This video will give you everything you want to know / learn about the Taiko, the CASE and the 3 panels.

This video took me several days to make and edit, and I'm very proud of making the most complete and comprehensive video about the Taiko, just for you :) I hope you enjoy it.

[Bluetooth 4.2] I’m loving this light so far! We may buy a couple more. I do however have 2 small improvements that could be made:

- The ballast is very basic and doesn’t have any way to hang it on a stand. The light is made in Norway but the ballast is made in China.

- Behind the rigid diffusion panel are a couple ribbons that look a bit fragile. Since we are a rental house these are the sort of things I notice when I test gear. Probably not an issue but something to be aware of.

The reviews are correct on how accurate this unit is. Very good color rendition and the control interface is very intuitive, as is the iOS app. Lots of output too! And love that the diffusion can be swapped out. The mechanism to hold in the diffusion could be better however it’s not bad.

We will be keeping an eye on Luxli as they are making some amazing lights. The big question is will they be popular as rental items... time will tell.

[Proprietary] As promised, this is basically a large version of the timpani with a soft panel. If you love other Luxli products, you’ll be very happy with this kit. I added on a pop softbox as well and it really makes this light shine. Speaking of, this panel has plenty of power even with a soft panel AND a soft box on. The case easily fits everything you need and more. For the power pack, I prefer adding a dummy v-mount to the brick and hanging it from the battery mounts on the back of the unit rather than hanging from the yoke as they recommend (this is how I use my timpani fixtures, hopefully the added heat from this unit doesn’t make this a problem, but so far it seems to work fine) . That said, it’s impressive they include the pieces to hang it in the box. A lanyard or other solution would be nice as well.

[50,000 Hours] I have been using Luxli's since they first came out. I love my Timpani's but the line was definitely missing the Sky Panel killer, well this is it! I am so happy Luxli made a 2x1 and made it MORE powerful than the Sky Panel. I got to use this on my latest NFL shoot (see picture below) along with my Timpani's. If you look you will see this light is at 19% to give this full living room a nice soft key light. The crew was blown away by the weight, portability, and power of this thing. The slip-in diffusion trays are so simple and fast to use and the options are great for quick changes on the fly. Luxli is the real deal and this paired with the app is a must have in your lighting arsenal! [I received this product in exchange for my honest review.]

[Bluetooth 4.2] I gotta say, this is definitely the best light that I've purchased so far. Technically the only other RGB light I've ever owned is the Godox R1 which is fun to play with and has it's purpose but not even a fair comparison. I got this for it's versatility, it having great light output for a panel without breaking the bank, light weight and thin, comparatively to it's class, and Superb App as well as on light menu. It's the easiest to navigate menu I've had the pleasure to use, though I don't own any aputure's so can't compare to the Sidus app.

The only complaint I have with it so far is the short power cable's, and the power supply's cable is so short in fact that the brick would hang off the ground if i had it fully extended (and it's a heavy brick!).

Figured out a workaround with some velcro and some v-mount bracket/clamp but for the price and quality of everything else, this seems like someone dropped the ball big time. Just seems really cheap compared to the rest. Anyway, the rest is so good it's something I'm willing to look past now that I have a suitable workaround.

[Passive] After doing my homework for weeks, looking at everything available as led panel, I decided to go with the TAIKO......Man! What a good choice!
Everything is perfect, not too heavy, not too bulky, very well built, great output, VERYYYY user friendly, the app is the best! I cant find anything wrong. If you order it, do yourself a favour, order the case for it.......for $99 it’s a steal!!!!! One of the nicest case I ever saw! Bravo Luxli!

[LCD] I own the smaller Luxli lights and use them a ton. They're perfect for adding a pop of color, but they haven't had the muscle to light up a whole set.

The Taiko is amazingly powerful, despite being easily light enough for one person to rig and transport. The lenses over each LED give it a long, focussed throw and the when you need softer shadow edges, the diffusion gives you a beauty light or can add a wash of color to a whole cyc wall.

As with the rest of the Luxli lights, its really well made and has a very usable app that lets you pick colors from a camera to get just the right shade of red.

As far as quality vs price, there is nothing else like this on the market. Great light.
