Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Can i shoot in portrait with the fluid head?

A: No. This does not have the option to tilt into portrait position. You can, however, if your camera is mounted within a cage and that cage has mounting threads on all sides, mount your camera in the desired "portrait" position, but we would recommend using caution for such rigging.

Q: 2. I use my tripod mostly for video. I'm looking to buy another because mine (a cheap one bought at that store that start with a 'W'... and ends in a 'T') pans so poorly. Does this one pan smoothly? Up and down. Side to side. And it looks like it has a crank handle that makes the head move up or down as the handle is crank. Is this correct? Thank you!

A: This tripod does a decent job panning and tilting, especially if you are on a tight budget. It works the best with small to medium sized camcorders (i.e. a Canon XA20). I've used these tripods for filming interview videos and conferences. It definitely does a better job than any cheaper tripods without fluid heads!

Q: 3. Can I buy extra camera plates for this Ulanzi? I don't see them listed.

A: The Ulanzi U-190 Mini Fluid Head can work with the Falcam F38 Quick Release Top Plate or other ARCA Swiss compatible plates. Falcam F38 Quick Release Top Plate BH #FAF38QRTP

Q: 4. could this work for Canon 5DMark IV with 100-400mmm lens?

A: The Ulanzi U-190 Mini Fluid Head will comfortably work with the Canon 100-400mm lens, as long as it was mounted on the tripod foot of the lens itself.

Q: 5. What's the maximum suggested payload weight?

A: The Ulanzi U-190 Mini Fluid Head payload limit is 22lbs/10kg More info https://bit.ly/3O7D7GS

Q: 6. What is the base diameter of the head?

A: The Ulanzi U-190 Mini Fluid Head offers a 1.57in-diameter in base size.

Q: 7. So does the handle have a Rosette mount? Can I attach other handles to this?

A: The Ulanzi U-190 Mini Fluid Head has no rosette. No second handle can be mounted to this system.

Q: 8. Is a tripod bag included?

A: A bag is not included with this unit. Here's a recommendation for a bag B&H # TETGC38.

Q: 9. Can you remove the fluid head?

A: Yes you can. Just unscrew the knob underneath the tripod head when you want to remove it from the tripod.

Q: 10. Can the clamp rotate 90?

A: The Arca-compatible quick release clamp of the Ulanzi U-190 Mini Fluid Head (B&H# UL2895) does not rotate.

[3] Shocked how sturdy this is, built like a tank.

Fluid head quite nice. Great for my DSLR rig. I'm not new to film/tv but new as a shooter and this feels like a great investment.

Wish it had a way to quickly do "Dutch" shots but might just be my inexperience.

[Yes] I have now purchased several of these excellent pan & tilt fluid heads for use with 55mm - 60mm, and 65mm spotting scopes. They are machined nicely, and have a nice anodized finish on them that appears flawless! They are very smooth, and fluid in both the panning and tilt motion. And there is a nice amount of friction control on both the panning, and tilt motion. And; they have very nice round aluminum knobs for these controls. (Unlike similar small pan & tilt heads that have plastic levers for these controls that loosen up, and often stick too tight.)
And at the current B&H Photo selling price? These are Absolutely the best dollar value on the market! I am a Birding Guide with a lot of Demo spotting scopes. And to date these Ulanzi U-190 fluid pan & tilt heads have worked flawlessly for their intended purpose with the spotting scopes!

[3] I bought one of these to use w/ a Panasonic G9 & Tamron 100-400mm lens. I also bought a Manfrotto MVH500AH Fluid Head because I couldn't believe something this small could handle the weight. I was wrong.. the Manfrotto is going back and I'm keeping this little jewel. I'm not using the handle either so that makes it even handier.

BTW - The Tamron is also going by-by and I'm saving the $$$ for a Panasonic 100-400 now... a good lens but manual focus only w/ the Viltrox EF M1 adapter..

[1x 1/4"-20 Male] Went over reviews and watched many videos on YouTube on fluid heads. I ended up getting this one for my Celestron Regal M2 ED100. It's a beast but this head is smooth working with it! The MVH500AH was one in the running but looked huge! I also liked the looks of the 128RC but settled on this one. It has excellent finish and seems plenty sturdy for my usage.

[Yes] Both this fluid head and tripod clearly tried to do something different. Whether that's a good of bad thing, I leave that up to you. For the tripod the first thing I noticed was that there's only one set of release tabs for both stages. I thought this was a mistake until I realized that loosening them and tightening them effects both stages. It's a novel design, but I kind of like it: one less thing to do and undo when raising and lowering it.

For the fluid head again something I noticed missing was the fluid/drag adjustments. But when trying the head out I noticed that the speed at which you whip seems to effect the resistance on the pan and tilt of the head. Over all it's definitely a different design than I'm accustomed to. It takes some getting used to, sure, but considering the huge weight capacity for the price, I think it's an amazing deal!

[Flip Lock] I've NOT found any better under two pound super-light weight tripods than these. My B cams are mounted on them. Dependable sturdy legs and unusually good fluid heads yet so inexpensive and with a 5 years warranty! The negative: non-removable heads.

[Flip Lock] I have not had great experiences with tripods this size and price. Not in this case! This tripod delivers! I love it. It is perfectly crafted, compact and performs well. Typically, pan and tilt has glitches with similar tripods. Not with the MUFA. Perfect pan and tilt. I can’t say enough great things about this tripod.
