Resurrecting the sough-after sound of a 45W 1965 Marshall JTM45 Plexi tube amp with advanced TC Ampworx modeling tech, the Jims 45 Preamp from TC Electronic delivers the authentic tone, touch, and feel of a vintage tube amp. Sporting two channels (green for master volume control, red for stock circuitry), you can easily reproduce classic British rock and blues tones.

Each channel features independent gain, volume, and EQ controls for perfect tonal shaping. A 5 dB boost is included with its own footswitch, and you can select either Pre or Post boost modes from the rear panel, with Pre boost allowing you drive the amp model harder with a distinct mid-frequency hump. Both the DI output (ideal for PAs, mixers, and interfaces) and the headphone output (ideal for silent practice) offer IR-based simulations of a Celestion 4x12 G12M Creamback cabinet for the sound of a real vintage combo amp. And as a pedalboard-friendly platform, the Jims 45 Preamp will take drive pedals like a champ.

Jimi Hendrix is not only remembered as one of the greatest guitarists to ever live, he is also respected by generations of guitarists for his innovations with guitar equipment. While his signature strat played a role in his sound, it was also formed by his pushing of '60s era tube amps and fuzz pedals to their limit.

Enter the famed '65 Marshall JTM45, a 45W powerhouse known for its legendary plexi tones. With advanced Ampworx capture technology, TC Electronic delivers the incredible volume and crunchy overdrive tones that have made Marshall's mid-1960s amps so famous and sought-after.

Right out of the box, the Jims 45 is set to Dual Channel mode. This configuration keeps the pedal engaged at all times, granting instant access to each of these unique sonic profiles.

However, if you prefer a more traditional stompbox experience, TC Electronic incorporated a bypass mode. Entering this mode allows you to simply stomp the pedal on and off, allowing you to switch between bypass and the channel used before entering bypass mode.

The cabinet speaker plays a crucial role in any combo, and thanks to the advancements in convolution-based IR technology, TC Electronic can now capture the essence of the past with exceptional precision and authenticity. To give you the true sound of the original, they joined forces with Celestion and incorporated the official Celestion impulse response of the revered G12M Creamback 4x12 speaker cab. It's an excellent match that reproduces every nuance of your riffs and solos with equal amounts of ease and elegance.

Jims 45 features an extra addition not present in the original 5150 amp, a 5 dB boost circuit. To enhance its versatility, the pedal offers a selectable Pre or Post boost mode. In the Post mode, the boost circuit functions as a volume boost, elevating the output level without introducing any alteration to your core tone. It simply provides a transparent and pure increase in volume, allowing your original sound to shine through.

Switching to the Pre mode repositions the booster before the amp modeler in the signal chain. This setup drives the amplifier with greater intensity, simulating the effect of a vintage tube screamer placed in front of your amp. This introduces a touch of grit and character, delivering a tasteful vintage-style drive.

By incorporating a global Presence knob on the rear panel, Jims 45 is able to adapt to any musical scenario you may encounter. Recognizing the likelihood of pairing this pedal with a diverse array of amplifiers, cabinets and pedals, TC Electronic introduced this convenient and universal control, enabling you to establish the overall sonic direction. By increasing the presence knob, you will add a touch of brilliance and some additional warmth to match your desired tone.

The Jims 45 offers three independent outputs, all of which can be used simultaneously for a three-way split. You get a DI output ideal for front-of-house (FOH) and PA systems, a line out, and a headphone out for silent practice. The DI and headphone outputs both feature cab simulation of a Celestion G12M Creamback 4x12 cab, while the line out sends a pure, amp-modeled tone, allowing you to send the line out to an optional external IR loader if desired.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Does this modeling lamp work in the Broncolor Pulso G light head? The number is the same as recommended for Pulso G.

A: Yes, the Broncolor 300W Modeling Lamp for Minicom 160 (120V) is compatible with the Broncolor Pulso G light head.

Q: 2. can you also give the sk300?

A: Yes it will work BH #GOMLQS400II

Q: 3. what is the Cri rating? Can i use is as a Video light with sk 400ii instead of buying separate sl60w?

A: The Godox Modeling Lamp for SK400II Flash Head (150W) is a tungsten quartz modeling light. It is not used to light a subject per se, but instead is for judging what the strobe might look like. The manufacturer does not list a CRI for this flash head. The color temperature is around 3000K, unlike the flash tube, which is 5400K (daylight).

Q: 4. Could you use a standard LED bulb on the dp400iii at a more desirable color temp (5600K)?

A: You could use an led in theory but only if you found one one in this shape with the same bulb type that would fit. Generally they are wider and would interfere with the flash tube. The bulb needs to be e26/e27 and of this narrow shape and be 150W or less. We do not sell an led in this size and shape.

Q: 5. I've purchased the Godox DP 800III, 600III and 400III. They each have a modeling bulb is labeled JDD E26 110130v 150w. This is the same label on the replacement SK400II. Do all these strobes use the same modeling bulb?

A: Yes, the Godox DP 800III, 600III and 400II use the same modeling lamp.

Q: 6. I have a Bogen 3068 with 3063 head. Is this bag strong enough to hold this extremely heavy tripod-head combination?

A: Yes this bag is strong enough to hold a Bogen 3068 tripod with the 3063 head attached.

Q: 7. Is this one Daylight White? Or is warm?

A: This is a tungsten balanced modeling lamp, so the color temperature would be warm.

Q: 8. How much battery does the Visoflex2 eat up on the M11? I have two batteries, will I need a third?

A: Having at least one extra battery when using the Leica Visoflex 2 Electronic Viewfinder extensively is recommended.

Q: 9. Does this lamp cast a yellow color onto your model? Is there an LED modeling lamp alternative with a higher CRI that would fit into a Godox DP 400 III?

A: This Godox modeling lamp tungsten-balanced, so using it as a main source would create a warmer color temperature in your image if the white balance in the camera is not set properly. Unfortunately, there is no LED equivalent that can be used with the SK400 II that would not interfere with the flash tube.

Q: 10. Can this lamp been used for all godox speedlights with 150W modeling lamps?

A: This modeling lamp can be used in any of the Godox monolights that use a 150w modeling lamp.

[9 VDC at 300 mA] I love being able to listen to vinyl both in my nice headphones as well as out of my speakers, so i was looking for a preamp/amp that would act as a preamp when i wanted to listen thru my speakers, and would act as a headphone amp when i plugged in my headphones. and all while not taking up a massive piece of real estate and massive chunk of change. this did just the trick!

With the addition of some shielded cables, i was able to get my setup exactly how i wanted it.

you might see some other reviews about audio bleed-over in the inputs, while this is true, as long as you have nothing playing on those other inputs, you won't be able to notice it.

[Buffered Bypass] This is an attractive, good sounding, compact phono preamp with plenty of punch. It’s well constructed and made in America! The EQ helps compensate for varying sound quality on records or offers quick adjustment for desired listening preferences. The bonus is having a couple of line level inputs so you can plug anything else in. It’s everything I need to play music through my 2-ch system with a passive crossover sub. No more, no less.

[1 Kilohm] The phono pre-amp seems accurate and noise-free, the size is perfect, and the additional two inputs cover all the options I need to feed my powered speakers.

[1 Kilohm] I honestly don't think there is a better option on the market, everything is perfect, the sound, the spects the price, THE SIZE!! , everything, The unit fits like a glove inside my gigbag and the pedal layering is so well and smart designed that you actually don't miss not having more buttons . It took me like 20 minutes or less to build my first patch and then the second day I made the whole rig setup for my live gigs, witch I took to a few days later. Everything was perfect, just some minor twiks here and there, but I felt that it's been with me for years. The MX5 will kill everything on the market in this price range, even higher. In fact because of the stereo FX send and the expression pedal, even the Gigboard is in danger. Well done Headrush, very well done.

[Buffered Bypass] My new Bellari PA550 unit is connected to my Klipsch Promedia 2.1 THX Certified Computer Speaker System so I can adjust the bass and treble to my likes, making my music listening even more enjoyable. Another plus is that this unit does not cost a fortune.

[1 Kilohm] Sounds great. Compact (doesn't take up much desk space.). Easy to program. I use set-lists and scenes as a work-around for lack of snapshots. Compared to my Helix LT - much less expensive; much smaller and less heavy; BUT no snapshots; no programming with computer connection (HxEdit); takes a bit of effort to type on keyboard screen due to size. I like it.

[9 VDC at 300 mA] I'm a jazz guitarist playing an 8-string classical guitar that goes higher and lower than a regular guitar. It has a K & K pickup and I my amp is a JBL EON powered speaker, which, for this instrument sounds better than any jazz guitar amp. I have used the Zoom A-3 preamp as well as an L.R. Baggs Venue DI. They are both very good but I'd say the Grace Alix is the best I've found. It has great features you can read about but I must say that the sound of my guitar with the EQ set flat is strong, clear and simply amazing! It's very well thought out. Worth the price.

[9 VDC at 300 mA] I wanted to add pre's to my saffire pro 40 and I didn't want the same kind of pre's I already had with my interface. So I went with these tube pre's. I really like them on Drums, they really add a kind of presence, more life to the drums, compared with the pre's on the saffire. For stuff like dialogues or voiceovers I think they are a bit too coloured tho, and the noise floor is quite high. But I really like them on loud sources. I am looking to change the tubes for high quality ECC83 soon to reduce noise floor. This is really cheap and a real good value. They add 8 pre's with one adat cable to my saffire pro 40, so I can carry my rack anywhere and record drums or a full band with 16 inputs. Really versatile. There's also 8 analogue balanced output, which is nice.
