Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Will this REALLY hold 6.6 lbs. if it is extended all the way out horizontally 20" with the weight at the end?

A: Yes the load capacity would be based on the full extension of the arm, so it is capable of holding up to 6.6 lbs.

Q: 2. Which plate/quick release is this? ManfrottoPL compatible?

A: Included with the Manfrotto 244RC Variable Friction Magic Arm with Quick Release Camera Bracket (B&H# MA244RC) is the Manfrotto 200PL Quick Release Plate. In case it's of interest, the following is a kit that contains, among other things, the Manfrotto 200PL Quick Release Plate, and more information can be found at its product page: https://bhpho.to/3tELKjy

Q: 3. What's the max payload this can hold? Want to mount a C300 MKII with Canon 24 -70mm

A: Since the Manfrotto 143N Magic Arm can hold up to 6.6 lbs, the Super Clamp holds 33 lbs and the BackLight Base can also hold up to 33 lbs, the Canon C300 Mark II and Canon EF 24-70mm f/2.8 II USM can definitely be held securely with this kit.

Q: 4. Can this model be attached to the Easy Link on the Manfrotto MT055XPRO3 ?

A: The Manfrotto 3/8" + 3/8" Adapter Spigot, B&H # MA125 can allow this arm to connect to the Easy-Link on select Manfrotto tripods. https://bhpho.to/2QlhTJZ

Q: 5. Will it work on Odyssey 7Q+ and Sony FS700? Or should I use another Magic Arm? Thanks.

A: Being that the Convergent Design Odyssey7Q+ and the Sony NEX-FS700R Super 35 Camcorder both have a threading that is compatible with the Manfrotto 143BKT bracket in this kit, you can use the 143N Magic Arm with them. This would be especially good to use if you are attaching the Odyssey 7Q + to the leg of your tripod with the Super Clamp or the camera to a flat or rounded surface with the same clamp.

Q: 6. How do you attach the magic arm to the Manfrotto tripod?

A: Depending on how much weight you need to hold, each stud has a tap. One is 3/8 and the other is 1/4 -20. All tripods have either a 3/8' orr 1/4 screw.

Q: 7. Manfrotto 143 vs 244? Pros/Cons of each?

A: Nothing its the same magic are the only difference is that the 143 comes with accessories that are very much needed in order to complete a kit.

Q: 8. I can adjust the locking handle with two allen wrenches, but how do I adjust the tension at the ball joints at the ends?

A: The ball joint tension can't be adjusted. I would recommend not placing anything over 6.61 lbs. Which is the rated payload.

Q: 9. Weight capacity. How heavy of a camera is this arm rated to hold?

A: Not sure what the official specs are but we support a Thermography camera and motorized pan/tilt mechanism from it. The combination weighs about 5 pounds. The closer the arm is to the wall the stronger it will be, and of course the more horizontal extension used it won't support as much. The lock knob can be cranked down pretty tight, and the arm and wall plate are very solid (typical for Manfrotto).

Q: 10. Just out or curiosity. Are the company name and serial number printed on the arm or is it a sticker?

A: The name is painted on.

[Stainless Steel] This product is very sturdy and strong for its price point. I would highly recommend this for anyone's rig! My Ninja V fits perfectly on this!

[1.15 lb] We just got 2 to use for monitor mounts for our new Shinobi 7's and they're rock solid. It definitely can hold way more weight than these monitors. Also, having rod mount locks makes changing locations on a rig much faster. Only thing is I wish the baseplate had a 1/4 20 thread so you could leave the monitor mount on all the time for different configurations without the arms. 5/5

[Stainless Steel] I purchased this magic arm to use with my Falcam Tree Root tripod. Using it as a support for an external monitor. Build quality is top-notch. Unlike most magic arms that are either totally loose or engage a set of teeth, this unit has a reassuring click to each change in position. Easy to use, but not totally loose, which I have come to appreciate.

[Stainless Steel] The usually problem with magic arms is the loose tension over time. This hindges almost like a arri locating lock where it clicks. This helps give extra suppot. I use this on my fx6 with with a 7in screen. It hold up great and can be adjusted if needed.

[Stainless Steel] This magic arm is very sturdy when tightened and very flexible when setting up. I used 3 of them (1 7-inch, 2 11-inch) connected my camera (caged) to 3 Falcam suction cups. I was very satisfied with the setup. There was no potential weak points that the setup could get loose and it was quiet easy to set it up and efficient in using space.

[1.15 lb] This thing is tiny and works great in a tight space. No ratcheting handle to get in the way.

[1.15 lb] This articulating arm is well worth the price! It's so much stronger and more dependable than your standard articulating arm. Even the Pearstone arm can not compete with this. Since you are griping the arm on your rail rod system instead of screwing it on there is no chance of your monitor or led light coming loose. You can also remove both ends and have a standard baby pin articulating arm to rig whatever you want! The center joint uses teeth to prevent it from bending when tightened. Solid product!

[Stainless Steel] i bought this to replace some less expensive articulating arms (which were okay, but wouldn't hold the weight well, would often spin loose, etc.). i got one to hold my Blackmagic Video Assist and another to hold my Zoom H6, everything on board my shoulder rig for my BMPCC 6K. one man studio. i combined these with the Zhiyun-Tech TransMount Quick Setup Adapter quick-release mechanism for quick gear swaps.
