Equipped with a brass 1" dual-diaphragm capsule, the SM4 captures clean, controlled low-end and smooth, detailed highs. The uniform cardioid polar pattern provides superior off-axis rejection of unwanted noise, and the large sweet spot reduces proximity effect.

Block unwanted RF noise from common wireless devices, including cell phones, laptops, and wi-fi routers. The proprietary system features an integrated pop filter and a woven-mesh Faraday cage that shields the microphone capsule for clean audio capture.

The internal pop filter enables clean, plosive- and rumble-free recordings for easier postproduction work. Compress or EQ to taste without bringing forward unwanted elements that can plague recordings and mixes. Additionally, the SM4's XLR output works with any interface

to achieve professional-quality recordings, no matter the environment.

Optimized to capture a wide range of sound sources, from soft vocals to loud instruments, including drums, guitar amps, and horns, the SM4 sports an exceptionally high SPL handling of 140 dB.

The SM4 sports a rugged, all-metal construction featuring cast Zinc. A sleek, low-profile design won't obscure the performer or environment, making an excellent streaming companion.

A: Pro Tools 11 is included in this bundle. All hardware in the bundle is compatible with Pro Tools version 9 and above.

Q: 2. Can i use this for recording in real time? Is it a microphone?, and will it come up as a microphone on my computer?

A: This is a complete Voice Over kit with a microphone and everything else you need to do professional sounding VO production. The kit includes the software you will need to record and edit your tracks as well as Speech and Voice Processor Plug-Ins. If you are speaking into a microphone and recording with the software that comes with this kit, everything is in real time.

Q: 3. Can you help me please , can you use this for a Mac book pro or an IMac computer ?

A: Great mic. To use it with your Macbook Pro, you'll need an interface like this: https://a href= http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1251657-REG/focusrite_scarlett_2i4_2nd_gen_scarlett_2i2_usb_audio.html target= _blank www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1251657-REG/focusrite_scarlett_2i4_2nd_gen_scarlett_2i2_usb_audio.html/aThen you can record with audio software, even GarageBand which is already on your computer.

Q: 4. Is there a specific type of interface that must be purchased to work with this?

A: As the other respondents said it is an XLR connection, however not all USB interfaces can provide the phantom power that condenser microphones need. Make sure that your interface or whatever mixer you use make sure it has phantom power (48v)

Q: 5. Atbthe bottom of the mic can i just comnect that to a tascam and start recording. Cause my friend has this huge mic with the soft sound thing around and did that. So do i need anything like the phantom power to operate this?

A: Not good, don't buy it

Q: 6. What do i need to make it a mic?

A: This kit comes with a mic. The Senal SC-550X Large Diaphragm Condenser and everything else you need to record and edit Voice Overs. It is a complete kit.

Q: 7. Is it Mac & Garageband compatible? I assume so but just checking.

A: The Senal SC550X Cardioid Condenser Mic with USB Dual Audio Interface & Cable Kit is compatible with Mac OS X and garageband.

Q: 8. I hear a very loud, persistent, high-pitched ring when I record with my laptop. Is there a way to fix that? Also, my table stand does not fit the shock mount :/

A: As for the the shock mount, please double check that any smaller thread adapter inside the thread area of mount has been removed. This often can be achieved with a penny or nickel. Regarding the high pitched ring, there could be many reasons for noise issues, I do recommend calling in to our team of specialists for assistance.

Q: 9. does this mic have usb?

A: This is an XLR microphone - there is no USB output. The Senal UB-440 Professional USB Microphone B&H # SEUB440 might be a similar comparable USB model.

Q: 10. I have a small production coming up where I have to record someone singing. Is than an appropriate mic for singing vocals? The talent will be listening to the music via headphones so this mic will only capture her voice.

A: For a recording application like the one you are describing, the Senal SC-550X would be a great model to consider for this application.

[Phantom Power] The Shure SM137 is very clear and flat, and with a controllable proximity effect. The flat frequency response in particular makes this a superb performer as far as versatility goes, being well suited to most applications in a studio style setting. As far as small diaphragm condensers go, this is as accurate as any, and with the Shure brand it's most certainly hardy. Also an excellent price for a very professional microphone.

[48 V] I was looking for an SM-81 to record acoustic guitars anyway - it was recommended to me by a friend who teaches recording engineering - and I thought the bundle was too good to pass up. It did not disappoint. The SM-81 is clearly legendary for a reason. I've now made multiple recordings with it, with several different guitars, and the tracks sit perfectly in the mix with no additional EQ and no fuss. Today I tracked a vocal with it and was stunned by how well it captured my voice. Very very impressed with this mic and I'm not sorry I sprung for the extras.

[Phantom Power] I’m not a career sound person. I do videography part-time (nights/weekends). My points of reference are built-in camera mics; DLSR add-ons like Rode’s Pro (short shotgun) & Stereo Pro; and built-in mics on portable recorders, like Zoom H5 & H1.

Compared to those, my Shure PGA81-XLR’s have been a step up. The balanced line XLR cables pick up less ambient RF noise, giving me less audio clean-up work in post, and better audio results for the clean-up that I still do. And the cardiod pick-up pattern helps reduce audience noise, and phase interference between mics used in xy pairs for stereo.

These are built like little tanks. I’ve had them 2 years, and use them every shoot. Seem indestructible.

They list at 40-20,000 Hz (I guess all the dogs & toddlers listening to my videos appreciate the 10k+ end; I can’t hear it). Since these have no built-in low-cut (a.k.a. high-pass), I use them in shock cages on mic stands and don’t handle them during recording. This works very well. (Tip: in floor-pounding environments like theater, I like to put the mic stands atop a hand-cut circle of Damplifier automobile sound dampening foam.)

I’m not qualified to comment on the ear-love from these: how “warm” or “sizzly” or “present” or they are (“with hints of oak, hominy, and spent transmission fluid”). But I am very fussy about sound, and these have been my go-to mics for best capture. I’ve used them for 50-piece orchestra projects; the conductor said the recording “brought tears to his eyes.” (Yeah, yeah, I know: happy tears!)

I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them, at least for anyone like me, looking to up their audio game from the non-XLR realm. But if your first use is run-and-gun video, then consider instead something like the Audio-Technica AT2022 or AT875R, since both are designed for DSLR-mounting. The 2022 is for low background noise settings and where stereo is important. The 875R is for high ambient/competing noise settings and where monaural sound is no big sacrifice.

[Mono] This is the best all around cost efficient dynamic microphone ever made. It can handle anything. It is a classic. I tested various microphones, including the U97, and kept comming back to this one.

[Mono] Great microphone in good price. I usually use it for the trumpet, and it has a warm sound which is unusual for the condenser microphones in this price range. It also allow me to record little details such as articulations and dainamics.

[1.9 lb] The voice sounds very bassy. Its pretty sensitive. Loved the fact that the shock mount came with it. Its well built. Its sensitive. When I monitor it I can hear sounds from far but when I use to for my calls like Zoom or teams, it just sounds great.

[Phantom Power] I'm a full time audiobook narrator. I have tried several mics, including a Neumann TLM 103, a TLM 102, a Sennheiser MK4, a Sennheiser 416 and a Shure SM7B. For my voice, the KSM32 beats them all. It's very warm sounding and very versatile. It's an excellent buy.

[Side Address] I've used this microphone for close to 20 years now, and decided to write a review, because I feel it needs more love and attention on this site. I actually bought mine in Europe all that time ago, and paid almost twice of what it costs today at B&H. Still I have no regrets. Over the years, I have used it mostly for vocals and acoustic guitar. I am a singer-songwriter with a project studio, so the astronomical prices of big boy mics are out of my reach, but I have accumulated some really nice equipment over the years. Not sure that a 5000$ condenser would be a quantum leap, but it's possible. That said, in the 500-1200$ range, I have used nothing that rivals this one. It has great, crisp clarity on vocals and a solid, firm bottom end. I have noticed that the intelligibility of lyrics is very good with this mic. It never seems to be harsh or shrill sounding, yet there is always a reservoir of extra high end available through EQ. I'm usually using the low-cut filter to manage any rumble and floor resonance. In conjunction with a nice pencil mic (I'm using the affordable Octava 012), it's great for guitar. It's solidly built and comes with a sturdy shock mount, as well as the simpler mic clip for quick setup or tight corners. Today, I'd get the black one; other than that, I wouldn't change a thing.
