This 6-stop, 40.5mm Haida Greystone ND Filter 40.5mm 6-Stop Multicoatedfeatures an ultra-thin aircraft-grade aluminum filter ring that is only 0.122" thick, which helps prevent vignetting on wider lenses or when stacking multiple filters. This filter evenly reduces exposure by 6-stops making it suitable for still, movie, and video applications. For still photos, the 6-stop reduction allows you to take pictures with a long exposure time, which can help create ethereal-looking landscapes that are both sharply in focus yet have a blurred effect on portions of the frame with moving subjects such as waves. With movie and video productions, the 6-stop reduction allows you to shoot with a wide-open aperture and gain control over your depth of field.

Q: 3. Does this include the rear slot for the Nikon version of this lens, or does this kit only include the filters themselves?

[40.5 mm] I own the Lee Filters 'Big Stopper 3.0 ND filter (10 stop) and have used it quite often. After seeing the reviews on this filter, I thought I would try it against the Lee system. This filter produces more natural and warmer colors than the Lee, the contrast seems to look a little better. Haida's M10 filter system doesn't leave a lot to be desired though but their ND filters are definitely worth the investment!!! This filter will work in the Lee holder,as it comes with a layer of foam that can be applied to keep light from bleeding past. I am very pleased with the results and would highly recommend this filter for anyone who wants to do long exposure photography.

[Aluminum] I have had the Lee Filters NDs for several years, and after trying Haida's 6 and 10 stop filters I will not go back. The Haida ND filters have a more natural color balance then the Lee. I had purchased their filter holder system as well but I didn't like it and kept my Lee holder system. This filter does work in the Lee holder though it does fits very tightly, not necessarily a bad thing as it is light tight. I am very pleased with these filters!

[40.5 mm] I have to admit, I wasn't sure what to expect with this filter brand, but considering the price I figured it was worth the gamble. Well, I just received it and I'm so glad I bought it. I immediately tested it out. I'm sheltering in place so what else am I gonna do? Wow! What a pleasant surprise. Now be aware that there was a very slight cool cast to my sample images. However, this was easily corrected in Lightroom with just one click. I can't wait to use it in Yosemite. In the meantime, I'm ordering the 10-Stop filter. Do yourself a favor, save the bucks and order this filter. You'll be pleased with the results.

[Aluminum] Best bang for the buck. This is lighter than my Tiffen filter but works just as well to my eyes. I use this for shooting waterfalls and shooting videos when the Sun's out.

[Aluminum] Very affordable 10 stop ND filter which produced minimal color cast and no light leakage. Attached picture taken on bright, sunny day in the snow yet allowed a 4 second exposure.
