The MIC500USB is ideally suited for use with standard digital recorders and sound cards, imbuing signals with the warmth, presence and classic tube compression that will bring your digital tracks to life.
The incredible MIC500USB’s controls consist of switches for +48V phantom power, 20 dB pad, phase reverse, and limiter, plus vintage-style gain and output knobs. An 8-segment LED meter provides accurate monitoring of output levels. And when used as a high-end DI (Direct Injection) box in the studio or onstage, the MIC500USB delivers flawless performance and outstanding signal integrity.

The MIC500USB provides 16 unique preamp voicings that cover a wide range of applications, including vocals, acoustic and electric guitars, bass, keyboards, and more. There are additional options for greater diversity including Neutral—for a more natural sound, Warm—for adding the warmth typically associated with analog signals and vacuum tubes, and Warm + Limiter for additional warmth when working with high volume levels and sounds with frequent signal peaks, or when directly recording an instrument with a mic (e.g., drums) and limiter for adding density and a consistent output level of all notes/sounds below clipping.

A: The best way to do that would be to connect (2) Rode Go II receivers, directly to each of the USB-C ports on your laptop and the Rode Connect App will allow you to control all 4 mic channels separately. You will also be able to provide compression as needed to each channel, as well as Rode's Aural Exciter and some other features. The best way to use (4) mics with the Rode AI-Micro, would be to use (2) AI-Micros connected to each of the USB-C inputs on your computer and you would have 1 mic connected to each of the 4 inputs. Rode Connect App will allow you to control those 4 mics separately.

A: NO. MOTU products are not yet qualified for use with the new M1-powered Macs. The M2 and M4 bus-powered USB audio interfaces are compatible with macOS Big Sur as USB audio class compliant devices, allowing plug-and-play operation with no driver installation needed. A driver will soon be available that provides lower latency performance, loopback channels and Core Audio volume control under macOS Big Sur.

[7 W] The AI-1 integrated with my Mac set up seamlessly. Unlike some older devices (such as the FastTrack Pro I upgraded from), the AI-1 can be control with the Mac OS X audio controls on your keyboard. The headphone amplifier works really well and the mic/quarter inch input delivers really high quality sound for home music recordings (using Logic Pro), podcast recordings and more recently Zoom calls. I don't like desk clutter and this device is about the size of an Apple TV and connects through one cable which I run through my external monitor. One issue that the upgrade to Mac OS X Catalina fixed was that I would have to unplug and plug back in the audio interface, so my computer didn't automatically use my external monitor's audio. However, that is no longer an issue. Another small issue, that seemed to be fixed with the upgrade to Catalina, was that I would hear a very faint radio signal in my headphones, but it didn't impact my recordings at all. Finally, I have this AI-1 connected to a pair of JBL monitor speakers through the balanced line outs on the back of the unit. The audio output is incredible. If you're looking for a minimalist, high-quality USB audio interface, the AI-1 is an excellent choice. 5

[2.075 lb] I know it sounds a bit weird, but the way that I use the audio interface and where it's placed had me wanting an audio interface with XLR inputs on the back of the unit. I originally bought a Scarlett 2i2, but returned it and got this instead. The smart gain is a nice touch, but I find myself manually adjusting gain anyways. I wish it was a touch bit heavier, but hey, for the price, I enjoy it! 5

I got a deal on 2 of these elsewhere and have been very satisfied. The headphone amp and very low-noise preamp are really great for the price. 5

[7 W] My Pixel 3a has a mic/headphone jack, and I'm able to use an SM-57 as a mic now that I have this box. There's minimal hiss from the gain being turned up. I just wish there was an easier way to determine which gain setting I've dialed in. The cord to the mic and the cord to the phone/camera -- they are both ample and sturdy. So far the battery has gone 20+ hours without needing to be changed. Battery is a CR 2032 ...that's not always easy to find in the product description. 5

[7 W] This audio interface is plug-and-play, without the need to install any flaky drivers (looking at you, gen 3 Focusrite Scarlett). It has high gain, low noise, and nice fit and finish. The only thing that would make it better is an additional input or two. Would recommend! 5
