Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. What is the scan time per slide or negative?

A: Expect about 1 slide every 2 seconds.

Q: 2. power assembly instructions ?

A: The device is powered through a USB port on the side of the unit. The "power assembly" such as it is, consists of a USB cable and an AC adapter. The large end of the USB cable fits into the AC adapter and the AC adapter is plugged into an AC outlet. The smaller fitting on the other end of the cable fits into the USB port, or opening, on the side of the scanner.

Q: 3. Is the Giottos - Rocket Blaster Dust-Removal Tool used in lieu of Digital ICE?

A: Yes the Giottos Rocket Blaster Dust-Removal Tool is a very good way to get rid of dust. Using the "Digital ICE" software, can sometimes remove information one may want to keep.

Q: 4. can is save tifs?

A: The Braun reflecta x33 only saves in jpeg. A jpeg can be converted to a TIFF file later to help prevent any further jpeg compression artifacts.

Q: 5. assembly for power ?

A: Power is provided only through the device that the USB is connected to. No batteries, or outside power cord.

Q: 6. Will this connect and work with either my Apple iMac and/or M1 MacMini running Big Sur operating system?

A: Yes this will work with Big Sur, just be sure to update the firmware and you should be all set.

Q: 7. Does theDoes Kodak 5" model interpolate to 22MP?

A: The Kodak Slide-N-Scan Film and Slide Scanner will scan 35mm, 110 and 126 film, as well as 35mm slides and make 14MP image files. All files produced are 14MP.

Q: 8. Can I use this scanner with Epson Scan Software or image capture? Or do you have to use proprietary Kodak software?

A: This scanner is self contained and does not need a computer to work with it. It does not work with any software. It is like a hard-drive. When you plug it into a computer via the USB cable it will come up like a memory card/ hard-drive on your computer.

Q: 9. My negatives are somewhat curled. Does this hold the negatives flat enough during the scan?

A: Yes it does

Q: 10. Can this scan APS film?

A: I am only scanning standard Kodachrome and E6 processed films. Cannot answer specifically about APS results.

[Black] The quality of the scans are very good. I was able to scan slides quickly, but 135 film strips took more time. The display image was very good. A great tool at a great price

[Black] Perfect for using with rolls straight off the drying clips. Mates perfectly to the Valoi film masks and raises negatives off light source to further diffuse the backlighting. My first 36-exposure roll with this solution took less than 20 minutes to scan and minimized any fiddling/cropping in post.

[3 Hours] I used the Kodak Mobile Film Scanner to scan my color negatives into my collection of pictures. I have the prints but laying them out on my MFD printer/scanner was tedious and hard to get the pictures lined up right. It was much easier, and less physical, and about four times faster to run my negatives through the Kodak Mobile Film Scanner.

The Kodak phone app is well thought out and works well with the little scanner box. The app provides several useful imaging tools to fine-tune the image once you've scanned it. But the image quality it produces is good to begin with. I found that all I used was the image cropping. I wouldn't call the user interface intuitively obvious, but it is easy to figure out.

I am very pleased with this purchase. It has made it much easier to get many more of my original film pictures onto my hard drive.

[3 Hours] I needed this quickly fora project I was working on. I love 2 day shipping. I had slides I needed to scan in order to add them to a slideshow. The function of the machine is very basic. You can adjust things in the machine, but it’s a little easier to do it in the computer. You will need a memory card and it’s as simple as finding the compatible tray, put the slide in, insert the tray. You will see your image. You can simply capture the image as is, or make your adjustments and then capture it. And onto the next one. It’s not a super quick process, but not too long either. It achieved just what I expected from it! Happy with my purchase.

[3 Hours] It's $35. the transfers look wildly better than what I had anticipated. If you can't make this work with a decent smart phone, then bless you, and good luck with the rest of your life.
If you want studio quality, then I guess you shouldn't even be considering this... but my old pics from the 80s and 90s look AWESOME with this.

[3 Hours] I have a lot of negatives which i have had stored in proper sleeves. Any this is fast, when compared with Epson Artisan 730 and time saving.
You can salvage your old negatives. And once converted to digital media, it opens up the world for you to edit them, enhance them in Photo Shop. You will be glad you did it. Because most of us have those old time memories of family. Bring it back to life. Our children have grown in digital world. They are not going to bother about the negatives . But once i have converted into digital media, i have been able to share these pictures with my children.

[2.525 lb] I am very pleased with the scanner. Ease of use is 4 stars, quality of scan is 4 stars (for the price). I did not expect the quality to be so good considering the price point. I know there are higher resolution scanners with image improvement software, but this scanner did exactly what I was looking for. I am 3500 slides into a project of about 7500 slides for scanning.
My only observation for concern, and it's not a scanner problem, is you need to frequently monitor the light screen for dust, it is not readily visible on the display if dust is showing up on the scan. Luckily there is a dust removal wand included with the scanner, but it is operator dependent to check for dust and remove it.
I would not hesitate to recommend this to anyone who needs to convert lots of slides, it takes about 15 seconds to get the slide out of the carousel and insert it into the scanner, the capture and saving of the image takes about 5 seconds on high resolution. Total directory size is about 14GB after 3500 slides.

[3 Hours] I don't understand the negative reviewers. This scanner works great, it's pretty much automatic as far as focusing and all that, and the resulting images look great. I can scan a whole batch of old slides fairly fast in an evening. I like that I can save the images to an SD card and then move that to my desktop computer. I also like that I can power it with the supplied USBC cable. Granted, I don't have any other slide scanners to compare it to, but this one works great for me and I'm glad I bought it from B & H.
