Get studio-quality input processing without breaking the bank with the ART Pro Channel III, a rackmounted channel strip with a Class-A FET mic preamp, selectable opto/tube or FET compressor, and semi-parametric 4-band EQ with sweepable mid frequencies. With selectable mic impedance and a Hi-Z front-panel input, you can handle virtually any input source.

The mic preamp section features a variable low-cut filter, gain control, a +20 dB boost, 48V phantom power, and impedance selection (600 ohms or Max). The compressor section allows you to switch between FET compression for a clean, modern, and transparent sound, or opto/tube for vintage warmth via the hand-selected 12AT7 tube. The EQ section sports a switchable low-cut filter (40 or 120 Hz) and, like the compression section, is completely bypassable. The channel strip also includes a Master volume knob. The Pro Channel III sports a real analog VU meter with meter trim adjustment, selectable input or output gain metering, and a dedicated 10-LED gain reduction meter. And with a universal internal power supply, you are guaranteed quality performance in any electrical environment.

The Pro Channel III features a discrete FET input stage and up to 60 dB of preamp gain. Switchable impedance optimizes the input for various microphones, and the variable low-cut filter can eliminate rumble, tame plosives, and tighten bass.

It’s also a versatile instrument DI. Connecting to the front 1/4” input will override the rear XLR input, so you can record direct tracks without disconnecting your mic/line signal.

The compressor section features variable threshold, ratio, attack, and release controls, and can be placed before or after the EQ section in the signal path. Press the Voice button to switch between smooth tube/opto and punchy FET compressor modes. You can also engage a phase inversion, bypass the compression section entirely, or switch the signal flow between the compressor and EQ sections.

The equalizer section features a switchable 40 or 120 Hz low-frequency shelf, variable low-mid and high-mid frequencies with over 4 octaves of range per band, and a 12 kHz high shelf that can soften sizzle or boost brilliance, so you can sculpt and enhance any source.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Will this card show up as a camera in Microsoft Teams and work as a Teams camera input device?

A: While we have not bench tested this product for the result asked about in this inquiry, we have tested several external Magewell card with similar acquisition specs and those did come up as proper input devices on Zoom and some other conferencing software.

Q: 2. Will this card input both HDMI channels at the same time?

A: I have the Quad, which is essentially the same thing, and we use it to live-stream 4 simultaneous cameras. So, using that assumption, it'll do so very very well. Very happy with ours.

Q: 3. How do the preamps with gain cranked up compare to other popular USB mixers at this price point? IE, vs Mackie (non-Onyx) and Behringer Q802.

A: These pre-amps will be in line with the quality that of a Behringer Xenyx mixer. These pre's would pair better with more sensitive signals requiring less gain to avoid noise.

Q: 4. Does this unit pass phantom power from a preamp to a mic?

A: This is a passive device that Transformer Couples the Audio Signal. Transformers do not pass DC voltages, so will Not Work with Phantom Power Mics. The Hum that it eliminates refers to 60 Hz Ground Loop problems between equipment.. If you place a separate Phantom Power Supply AFTER the Hum Eliminator, that might work . Or, use only 'Dynamic' microphones instead of ones that require Power. Then, this unit will work fine, as intended.

Q: 5. Can i hook power subwoofer?

A: Yes, with this receiver you can connect 1 or 2 powered subwoofers.

Q: 6. Whats the meaning of surround output?and what is rec an line output used for?

A: The surround output on this amplifier sends power to a left, right, and center channel speaker. Record and line outputs are to bypass the amplifier and only send out signal.

Q: 7. THe Magewell Pro Capture Dual HDMI Card (2 Channel) is clearly a low profile PCIe card. However, does it come with a low profile bracket or a full height bracket?

A: this card comes with a full height bracket

Q: 8. Speaker resistance, ohm requirements.

A: Technical Pro does not provide that information. According to their site, the peak power is 1500 watts.

Q: 9. Does this card output video also?

A: It does not. This is a capture card only, it is not for playback.

Q: 10. what is the orgin of the product?

A: The country of origin for this product is China.

[AC Input] Ive been used to record guitar, acoustic guitar, bass, vocals in my studio and the sound its always great, warm and fat in all situations. I really like to have a Tube Preamp with EQ and Compressor, I can setup the whole tone using this avalon.

[AC Input] Vocals are tailored easily. Acoustic guitars are rich and full. Compression unit can be subtle. Easy to use with a very classic sound for your recordings.

[Black] Nice sounding tube preamp with lots of options. Tube plate voltage can be adjusted between (low) warmer sound and (high) cleaner sound. The high tube plate voltage option is good for chaining with another tube preamp (e.g. UA 610) for getting a different character. I get a lot of use out of the channel strip features -- the compressor / expander, de-esser, and EQ, which all work pretty well. Digital out too in a lot of formats, if you need it -- I don't. Fit and finish / physical quality is very good on the two that I ordered.

[>110 dBA] This preamp sounds great for multiple recording applications- I own two 737s, they're versatile and quite powerful when you understand all the functions.

[Black] Lots of reviews start out with lines like Best Bang for your Buck and Great Value etc. This unit compares favourably both sonically and feature wise to units in the boutique segment of channel strips, hands down! In fact, you just won't find all of these features on units in the 4 figure price range, anywhere, seriously-this is the swiss army knife of processors. If you've got 10's of thousands of dollars to blow on Strips, Pre's, EQ's, limiters, Compressors, and DAW input interfaces etc, I'm sure you could out perform the ART. But if you prefer to grow your mike locker and studio effects DO NOT HESITATE to add this fine piece of engineering to your studio, heck, if you want to add some snootique flavour to it, drop another $50 or so bucks on a NOS Mullard 12ax7 or ECC83 to really vintage this guy up!

[Metal] I’ve owned this channel strip for over 10 years. This is what great audio sounds like. A lot of people put a lot of money into mics, but I would suggest spending money on a great preamp/channel strip first.

I’ve used the following mics with it: AKG414, Neuman U87 & TLM103, SM7B, and several dynamic mics usually used for live applications (SM57 & 58, e935 etc)

This unit realizes the potential of all mics. I’ve even recorded vocals with less expensive dynamic mics and the quality has always been warm, present, and professional.

If you haven’t put a good preamp between your mic and interface before, you will have a “I was deaf, but now I hear” moment.

[>90 dB] I use it with vocals an acoustic guitars, usually with a Neumann TLM49 or Rode NTK.I love the warmth of the tubes in the preamp. The eq is outstanding. The compressor section is very nice, but a little tricky because the attack and release times are a little bit slow and tends to sound too transparent. I compress a lot the vocals and bass and I really like the sound of the optical compressors. If you are good sound engineer an musician, Youll love it.

[Black] I was looking to start my own home recording studio for local bands and through a lot of research, I found this neat little device. It allows for very clear and warm audio recording. I use it for recording vocals, acoustic guitars, grand piano, etc. In all of these instances, this device performs extremely well. The expander and compressor are both very nice features to have. My setup also includes the Focusrite Saffire PRO 40,Rode NT1-A mic, and Sure SM57 mic and I am able to get recordings at a very high level of quality; Almost no hissing in the recording which is very important to me. I will definitely be buying more of this product soon to add more channels.

[25 W] If you have the money to be looking at this and really considering it, you should do yourself a favor and go ahead and make the plunge. Digital recording has always lacked the volume necessary (gain stage) to produce truly professional quality recordings It is very frustrating I know, but you will soon feel much better!
