Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. What tripod mounting plate is required to mount this system on a standard tripod head?

A: You need an Arca Swiss Z1 plate

Q: 2. What's the minimum distance between bolt centers possible with this plate?

A: The minimum distance between bolt centers is about 8mm.

Q: 3. What is the position distance for a full turn of the knob on the Arca-Swiss Monoball X-Table System? Thanks.

A: When using the Arca-Swiss Monoball X-Table System. the position distance is 3.5 inches.

Q: 4. What camera plate is required to mount my camera onto this system?

A: While you do not list which camera you own, the Sirui TY-50E Quick Release Plate, B&H # SISUTY50E, would be a universal camera plate that would work for your needs.

Q: 5. Are the plates on this L-bracket compatible with Arca-Swiss Slidefix ? I am using an Arca-Swiss item 801213 (Monoball P0 Panning with slidefix QS)

A: Yes the arca-swiss plates would be compatible across all arca-swiss brackets or panning systems.

Q: 6. Can someone clarify the two different answers below - can the dovetails be rotated on each baseplate, to switch whether the Classic or the monoballFix dovetail is the one in line with the lens axis? When I look at the additional baseplate that can be purchased separately, it seems to have the dovetails mounted in the other direction, suggesting they can be changed...

A: Hello Jonathan, Yes I confirm the dovetails can be rotated on each base plate to switch whether the Classic or monoballFix. When the plate is mounted with the narrow width parallel to the optical axis, then you can mount it on monoballFix® quik-release. When the plate is mounted with the larger width parallel to the optical axis then you can mount it on an Classic quick-release. This system is called "Dual Base". Now this L-Bracket has not been designed to change or replace the rotable plates with others monoballFix® plate. However if you absolutely need to do it, that is possible (everything is possible at ARCA SWISS :-)) but I would like to alert you on 2 points which are obvious for us but may not be clear for all the people. 1- If you replace the rotable plates/dovetail by monoballFix® plate, the you will have to choose only the ones with the grooves on their top so they will perfectely fit with the L-Bracket bases (horizontal and vertical). The compatible references are 802284, 802283, 802280, 802281, 802282 that you can find on B&H website. 2- Then you will not be able to use the screws neither the one of your L-Bracket dovetail plate (it may be too long depending on your camera base mouth depth) nor the one delivered with the additional plate (it may be too short). In that case we can provide a custom solution with specific screws but it that case we need to make a prior analysis and eventually a special order with B&H. Hope it answer your question and if you need more support, please just ask. Jean-Pierre from ARCA-SWISS

Q: 7. How do I attach it to my tripod?

A: We purchased this item and had the same question. Here is what we purchased to make it work, Arca-Swiss Monoball X-Table System B&H # ARMBXTS MFR # 802330, (1)Arca-Swiss SlideFix Quickset Device (1/4 , 0.6 cm)B&H # ARQR14DS MFR # 802012Arca-Swiss Cameraplate 75 for MonoballFix (75mm)B&H # ARCPMB75 MFR # 802284

Q: 8. thanks to mauricio for the answer and sorry to be thick. is there a diagram somewhere that could show me how to attach the bottom of the 2 pieces (receiver for the arca swiss QR plate). seems like i'd have to remove my tripod head and replace it with the receiver part? my tripod is a vanguard 263ap pro+ which has a pan/zoom type tripod head which i would not want to remove. anyone? thanks!

A: You would be able to mount it to the top of your current tripod without having to disassemble anything. You would be able to mount it to the existing 1/4 20 on the tripod using one of the 1/4 20 points on the receiver .

Q: 9. Can I remove the top clamp and replace it with a normal classic arca swiss clamp plate?

A: While no reports of doing this have been made and we cannot test it, it is our opinion that the Arca-Swiss MonoballFix Quickset Device that is on top and which holds the quick release plate that it should be easily removable.

Q: 10. What plate and clamp do I use with the Monoball to attach it to my camera and tripod?

A: Since it has a clamp on top, all you would need is an Arca Swiss type camera plate for the bottom of your camera or a lens plate for the bottom of your lens, if it has a lens collar.

[Rotation: 90°] Smallrig has really managed to fix a design problem with the Rs3 mini. I have a small camera (Sony Zv-E1) and I always had balance issues because I could never get it in the right position near the side of the gimbal. But everything has changed since I added this mount because it allows me to slide the camera sideways. Now the balance works really well and the gimbal is very stable.

[Rotation: 90°] After seeing the SmallRig Arca-Swiss Mounting Baseplate for DJI RS 3 Mini on a YouTube video, I realized it would be just the thing to get me back into using my gimbal. I had been frustrated trying to balance my Sony FX3 because the CG was just too high, and this baseplate made the critical difference! It is built to SmallRig's high standards, locks the camera securely, and fits perfectly on the Gimbal mount. Highly recommend!

[6 x 4 x 1.7"] I just got this, and this feels very premium and I think it will last a long time unless the hinges get worn out. It's very metallic and I can trust my phone to be in this. The clamp is also quite strong.

[Rotation: 90°] I went to very hot places with this tool. Very rough and rugged places. My camera was so hot, and it shuts off. It reads overheated. If this tool was plastic, it would have melted or broke to pieces. I am glad I buy this one.

[0.265 lb] Works like a champ.  Using on the end of Insta360 camera stick as either a selfie stick or a tripod.

[Clamp] Love it! It takes up very little room in my camera bag and works exactly as advertised. It easily attaches to my camera, so when I'm using a tripod I can shoot with my camera and with my iPhone. Very reasonable priced too.

[6 x 4 x 1.7"] I take action photos for our full-time fire department. This has now allowed me to live stream calls as well. And a side note B&H has been a great asset for me. Got a Z6II and lens from them and now this SmallRig holder for my phone. No dissatisfaction at all.

[Clamp] I wanted a simple baseplate to put on top of a lightweight monopod for long walks with my camera and long lens. This added the capability I needed without weighing me down. Absolutely love it. Tight tolerances without being a pain. Great quality.
