Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Is the 30 FPS limitation due to Bluetooth. Any updates coming for higher frame rates? Any work arounds for 60?

A: Set the frame rate to a multiple of the record frame rate on the camera (if you are shooting 60p, set the tentacle for 30p). The software for tentacle sync will automatically detect the difference. For more info, check out this page on the Tentacle Sync website. https://tentaclesync.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/360002606217-Recording-and-synchronizing-with-50-fps-59-94-fps-and-60-fps

Q: 2. I have a BMPCC 6k, a Ninja 5 hooked up to a monitor and a Zoom F6 sound recorder with bluetooth. Should I get two sync devices or three? I feel that the Zoom F6 can link up on it's own but I'm not certain.

A: The Tentacle Sync E mkII Timecode Generator with Bluetooth 5.0 (Dual Set) (B&H# TETE2MK2) is a set of two timecode generators. Once the two are connected to each other wirelessly and synchronized, each can feed timecode into a device. One timecode signal would need to be recorded with the video recorder, and the other with the audio recorder. Since you are apparently feeding HDMI (with embedded audio) from the BMPCC6K to a Ninja V, one timecode generator could be on either the BMPCC6K or the Ninja V. However, most people would connect it to the camera, and that is the surer option. The other timecode generator should be connected to the Zoom F6. You could use three, but there would be no benefit; Two is enough for your setup. As for a situation in which you'd want more than two, you would add one more timecode generator with each additional video or audio recording device you would use. So, one more with an additional camera or external video recorder, another one with an additional audio recorder, and so on.

Q: 3. What's the highest FPS for this timecode generator? 30 FPS?

A: This unit offers frame rates of 23.97, 24, 25, 29.97 and 30fps.

Q: 4. Will this sync a Ninja V recorder monitor?

A: Yes, the Tentacle Sync E can sync an Atomos Ninja V.

Q: 5. Is there any software involved, like the Tentacle, so I don't have to make it an issue with an editor?

A: No. Software is not involved but the unit is updatable via micro-USB for both mac and windows.

Q: 6. I think Fx3 have internal timecode , do I need this?

A: Yes, If you want to match timecode with other cameras or devices you would need the Tentacle sync kit.

Q: 7. Can this sync an Atomos AtomX module or directly to the ninja V?

A: No, Currently the Tentacle Sync will not wirelessly connect to the Atomos AtomX Sync. See this info from Tentacle. https://bit.ly/3t1apA7

Q: 8. Can I actually generate timecode while charing the device through usb port? It seems to add interference noises and make the recorded timecode unusable.

A: The Tentacle Sync E mkII Timecode Generator with Bluetooth 5.0 (Dual Set) (B&H# TETE2MK2) does have a USB C port that can be used to charge the device. You may be hearing RFI/EMI (i.e. radio frequency or electromagnetic interference). Such interference can often sound like a low or medium frequency hum, although radiated forms (which, by definition, pass through the air) are frequently higher. As for solving the problem, we would recommend not charging it while using it (since it does have a long battery life anyway) or at least using a battery-based source rather than an AC adapter for charging it if you'll be doing so during use. Another good alternative would be to use a USB power bank that does not require a converter (buck or boost) to produce power since those typically do generate EMI pulses. Finally, if you find that the problem exists even if there is nothing plugged into the opposite end of the USB cable from the one that is inserted into the USB C port then you may want to experiment with different USB cables to find one that is not as sensitive to (or is better shielded against) RFI or EMI radiation in the ambient environment.

Q: 9. is this PHABRIX SXE considered hazardous material because of the lithium ion battery contained in the test set when shipping?

A: Since the lithium ion battery is integral, there is no restriction on shipping with USPS or UPS.

Q: 10. Can you use this with a tentacle sync box so you can use this on a c70 and the tentacle sync on a bmpcc 4k?

A: For best results, it is recommended to use matching timecode generators for maximum compatibility, for Tentacle systems and for Denecke Dcode SB-4 Syncbox Timecode Generator systems. For use with a Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera 4K and a Canon C70, we would recommend 2 of the Tentacle Sync units. Tentacle also uses a proprietary software for matching the jammed signals.

[0.165 lb] Great keyboard, works as intended - and a good amount of options under the hood. Will your keyboard be a bit messier looking? Sure..but a really cool way to customize exactly what you want your perfect 4-voice poly/paraphonic instrument to do. And yes you can go beyond 4 voices using its midi outputs. All in all a pretty cool way to incorporate a case and keyboard in one.

[4 HP] This little inexpensive HDMI amplifier block was inserted into a line from a consumer camera going to the video switcher in our church. The specs said that the input side should not exceed 80-feet or so. We knew we had exceeded that by about 10-feet and had been warned that the output signal from a consumer-grade camera was not as robust as that from a Blu-Ray player or cable box. There was fear that this unit would not clean up the red sparkles in the picture on black objects we suffered from. But when the booster was inserted in place of a cable coupler close to the switcher input selector the picture jumped to correct color rendering. We are completely satisfied with the product and probably will order another to hold for future use. It performs better than the advertised specs in a tough situation.

[0.165 lb] Was having issues with my signal dropping in and out. I could not display 1080 at all until I installed this device. Now I get 1080P signal to the TV in the garage. It is roughly 125 ft.from the cable HDMI splitter and works great.

[0.165 lb] I am using a 50ft HDMI extension: source-50ft cord-booster-8ft cord. At first no signal would come though. When I added the booster, the signal worked but would drop intermittently. So I added the power adapter and everything works fine.

[0.165 lb] This small thing saved me time and energy while attempting to extend my video live capture... It works great and furnish auto-power to aliment itself when both ends of the HDMI in and out are connected. At first I was wondering how to pull an extended cord of outlet to charge it... and I found out it was not even needed! And Video streaming are clear and great! That little thing device is of great value and worth...

But... I just purchased it, so will see how long will it last
