You may be hearing RFI/EMI (i.e. radio frequency or electromagnetic interference). Such interference can often sound like a low or medium frequency hum, although radiated forms (which, by definition, pass through the air) are frequently higher. As for solving the problem, we would recommend not charging it while using it (since it does have a long battery life anyway) or at least using a battery-based source rather than an AC adapter for charging it if you'll be doing so during use.
