The Leica Macro Adapter M for Enhanced Photographyis placed between the camera and M-mount lens to increase the lens-to-sensor distance and achieve maximum reproduction ratios up to 1:2 for close-up shooting. Its design incorporates a helical screw system, which can be used to vary the adapter's extension length between 0.7-1.2" for greater flexibility in setting a closer focusing distance than the lens natively allows as well as increasing the reproduction ratio. The adapter is designed for use on Leica cameras featuring a live view function (such as the M Typ 240) and lenses with focal lengths greater than 28mm.

Increases lens-to-sensor distance, shortens minimum focusing distance, and helps to achieve greater reproduction ratios for close-up shooting.

Helical system permits a variable extension length between 0.7-1.2".

Specifically designed for the Leica Macro-Elmar-M 90mm f/4 lens, this adapter provides a 1:2 reproduction ratio, with a minimum focusing distance of 16.1", and infinity focusing can be maintained with the lens in its collapsed position.

When used on lenses with focal lengths of at least 50mm, reproduction ratios of 1:2 can be achieved. With wider lenses, larger ratios are possible. It is not recommended for use on lenses with focal lengths wider than 28mm.

Compatible with Leica M cameras featuring a live view function, such as the M Typ 240.

A: Good question.It is difficult to calculate this, I will try to do a measurement for you if I get time.But as a very rough guess I'd estimate you would be halving the 700mm to around 350mm minimum focus distance and probably achieve about a 1/10 reproduction ratio.I have the combo and will try to do a measure

A: You will only be able to do macro photos with this adapter in place. You should not keep the macro adapter on the camera except for macro photography.

A: The Leica Macro-Adapter-M will attach to the Leica APO-Summicron-M 50mm f/2 ASPH. Lens (Black). And it should work with most M to L mount adapters. Note it has not been tested with that adapter in that combination.

A: Yes it will work with the 50mm lens in live view.

A: Yes, it will work with any M mount lens, but I think it works best with longer lens such as 50 mm and more. Leica makes a 90 mm macro lens that goes with it.

A: This Macro M adapter would help you get closer and for the image to be larger - you will also need a rear light to photograph negatives with any lens. But it will turn your 50mm M mount lens into a macro lens for an M mount Leica camera, yes.

A: The Leica Macro-Adapter-M when used on lenses with focal lengths of at least 50mm achieve a maximum reproduction ratio up to 1:2 for close-up shooting. Technically speaking, 1:1 is reached when a lenses optical center is moved twice its focal length from the focal plane (or sensor plane). Your 90mm lens would have to be moved far enough so its optical center was 180mms from your cameras focal plane (or sensor plane). Using a lens with a shorter (wider angle) focal length would increase your reproduction ratio with the M adapter. I am not aware of longer Extension tubes made for the Leica M mount nor a bellows set up that will fit.

[5 x 4.75 x 4.6"] This very well made device allows you to mount any Leica-M mount lens to your Z6. That alone is interesting, but the kicker is that this little ring also has an internal helicoid, which extends the close focus range of your lenses. Instead of being stuck with the typical 0.7-1 meter MFD, this reduces that by about half. It's like you get all new lenses! I particularly enjoy using my very old Leica thread mount lenses on my Z6. Quite fun, and a totally unique look. Highly recommended. 5

[0.705 lb] This is a helicoid that adjusts between 18mm and 30mm. Coincidently the 90mm folding lens also extends 18mm from the folded state. So when it's folded the combination will focus from infinity to .13X. Unfolding the lens takes you to .33X and using the lens focus takes you to .5X. If you happen to have the original goggle attachment, that's another 14mm of extension for a total of .65X. It's beautifully made and comes in a lens type case, but it's very expensive. 5

[0.705 lb] I use this Macro adapter with a Leica f 4 90 mm Elmar lens. The adapter has an adjustable length and the lens itself can be compressed or extended. In this way you can focus as closely as 12 inches or as far away as infinity. I almost feel that I am using a view camera.. it is that versatile 5

[5 x 4.75 x 4.6"] The Leica Macro-Adapter-M is a continuously adjustable extension tube for close-up photographs. With a 90 mm lens it provides a reproduction ratio of up to 1:2 which by definition does not amount to true macrophotography (greater than life size). However, it is sufficient for photographing small objects such as butterflies or flowers. As Leica lenses are designed to be used with maximum aperture for their amazing clarity of in-focus details with beautifully blurred out-of-focus areas, these characteristics become even more pronounced when using this adapter for close-up photographs. Depth of field becomes extremely small when focusing on close objects. A smaller aperture (higher f-number) may be required to produce acceptable sharpness. Even a mm difference makes our pictures blurred. The life view helps, but the hit rate of hand-held photographs is relatively small. I've attached a sample of two hand-held flower pictures. Both were taken with the Leica Macro-Adapter-M and an M 10-R, one picture with a Leica APO-Summicron-M 50mm f/2 ASPH and the other with a Leica Summilux-M 90mm f/1.5 ASPH lens. Understandably, the resolution is not as brilliant in the attached pictures because of the reduced number of pixels, with the file size being limited to 100 kilobytes, from the original 40 megabytes of the DNG file. In summary, this adapter is built with the precision that Leica customers expect. I highly recommend it if the high cost is not a concern. 5

[0.705 lb] Overall, this is an excellent Leica M lens adapter, especially when considering the price point vs the alternatives, which cost more. The reality is that there are always compromises. However, the compromise for me is minimal, considering I used this adapter for still photos. What I like about it is the macro focus capability; it gives more usability focus range to the Leica lens. It acts as a bellow extension, and because there’s no glass, there’s no loss or alteration in optical quality. You get what Leica has to offer without compromise. The bellow extension mechanism relies on lubricant but is smooth and precise. And the mechanism is tight, which is what you want. It performs as is and works well.
