The System 55 is an amazing tool for those who want the ultimate modular synthesizer, capable of fully scoring the next cyberpunk or sci-fi movie from start to finish. This entire setup comes equipped with a 914 Fixed Filter Bank, which features 12 active bandpass filters ranging from 125 Hz to 5.6 kHz with additional Low Pass and High Pass filters, and one 923 Filter module with separate Low and High Pass filters, each with its own dedicated frequency cutoff control and jacks for both pink and white noise. But that's only the start—the System 55 comes with so many modules, you're sure to have hours and hours of fun creating beats into which you can just lose yourself.

The System 55 features five 902 Voltage Controlled Amplifiers with three summed CV inputs and dual audio inputs and outputs. Each module comes with a rocker switch that allows you to toggle between linear and logarithmic response modes, while you can manually set the control voltage with the Fixed Control Voltage knob. The System 55 comes with four 911 Envelope Generators, allowing you to create a deeply contoured signal with each of their 4 independent controls for Attack (T1), Decay (T2), Release (T3) and Sustain times from 2 ms up to 10 seconds. Create snappy and percussive sounds or long evolving drones, perfect for a funky groove or a brooding soundtrack to your latest techno thriller.

  • The 960 Sequential Controller is an 8-step sequencer with 3 rows of CV controls for adjusting the pitch of a signal at that stage.
  • An additional 9th step can also be used to stop the sequence.
  • More variations can be achieved by switching any of the desired Stage Mode Switches to Normal, Skip or Stop. Manually trigger each stage by pressing the respective Set button.
  • The 962 Sequential Switch module transforms the 960 from an 8-step sequencer to a 24-step giant capable of more intricate sequences and beats.

  • The 961 Interface module converts V-trig to S-trig and vice versa, and can even convert any audio source you plug in to a V-trig to drive other modules in your setup.
  • The 903A Random Signal Generator provides two white and pink noise sources that you can patch to other modules in the System 55.

The System 55 comes with a 992 Control Voltages Module that allows you to mix and switch control voltages, and 904B High Pass Filter and 904A Voltage Controlled Low Pass Filter, and a CM1A MIDI-to-CV converter, so you can control the System 55 with a MIDI keyboard, sequencer or DAW, to truly round out this rig. Several blank panels have been included to allow you to expand the System 55 with even more modules. You don't even have to worry about power as the included Eurorack Go cases come with their own PSUs.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Is this uninterruptable, any way to fast-switch the replaceable battery without losing output power? Perhaps daisychain 2 units?

A: Connecting it to a power source and using the pass through feature, you should be able to switch the battery although Omnicharge does not specifically mention this on the user manual. They do not have an official daisy chain feature but that could work too, we could not guarantee it.

Q: 2. Does it provide A/C power? I need something that can power TV monitor for upcoming show.

A: Yes in provides AC Outlet: 220V 120W Pure Sine Wave DC Out: 5-60V 150W (Adjustable Voltage & Amperage) USB-C Port: 60W (Input & Output) 2 x USB-A Ports (QC 3.0 compatible) 34,800 mAh (2.5 Hour Recharge Time) Removable Battery.

Q: 3. Will this power a Pioneer XDJ-RX2 Dj controller if the power requirements are AC 110 V -240 V, 50 hz/60 hz with a power consumption of 41 W? And if so, for how long?

A: Yes, the omnicharge Omni Ultimate Power Bank BH #OMOP2FA001 can power the Pioneer XDJ-RX2 DJ Controller. As far as how long it will last, that will highly depend on the power load, at a constant 41W, you should be able to get at least 2 hours.

Q: 4. What part number is the rackmount ears?

A: There are no rack ears developed for the Marshall Electronics V-LCD241MD 24" LCD Desk Rackmount Monitor with 3G-SDI Module. The monitor is too wide.

Q: 5. is it a Macintosh compatible monitor?

A: Yes, the Dell UltraSharp 38" 1600p Curved Monitor is compatible with MacOS.

Q: 6. Could I use this device in Europe with 220V ?

A: This device is made for US consumption. For the safest results it should be used with an international converter.

Q: 7. On a scale of 1 to 5, how sturdy do you think this stand will be when extended to nearly its full height and topped with a 36" x 16" surface weighing about 15 lbs?

A: 6 built like a rock.

Q: 8. Does it Work, can it charge a Macbook pro 16 M1/M2 ?

A: The omnicharge Omni Ultimate Power Bank (38,400 mAh) BH #OMOP2FA003 is capable of 120w AC out. The Apple depending on model will need up to 140w.

Q: 9. Is it possible to mount/suspend this arm from above?

A: The MBA38 is not intended to suspend from above. It does come with two types of mounts -- a clamp style mount and permanent flange mount. The stem for the arm inserts into the mount from the top. You could attach the clamp mount to a shelf and then position the arm so the mic comes downward, but the arm can not be mounted upside down.

Q: 10. Can we get pics for this? I'd like to see interior, dividers, compartments, loaded with gear, etc.

A: Unfortunately, neither B&H nor Porta Brace have supplied such images. If you Google Image search, there is one that shows the main compartment divided into three parts with a Sony camcorder in it.

[40.16 lb] Really enjoy this synth. Great and expressive sound and endless possibilities for exploration.

[40.16 lb] Great sound from a single oscillator - you can add a Moog Werkstatt for an inexpensive second osc, or buy a second (or third) Mother 32 to really expand the possibilities.Of course you can use this as a gateway into Eurorack modular, but be careful, that is a bottomless hole from which you will never escape :) Not criticisms, but: The patchbay can be confusing if you are not paying attention - the legends appear above the jacks - in the moment it is easy to forget as the jacks are so close. However, it is great having the jacks off to the side, as complicated patches don't hide the controls under a tangle of wires. The sequencer is great, but definitely has a learning curve, with a few combo key presses needed. I find that if I leave it for a few days, I have to refer back to the excellent manual.

[40.16 lb] Moog's developers have a way of mixing classic synth tech with a splash of new approach that results in keeping my learning curve high (which I like). Keep up the good work. B&H made ordering SO easy, and it was also on sale!

[40.16 lb] Uses foam on the insides on the left and right, which I wasn't expecting - not like the other Decksavers I've purchased. Not sure if I like that feature, I hope it's solid quality foam and doesn't leave any residue. Does NOT fit if you've got your Moog in the official Moog rack kit. Will technically let you fit your wires underneath it but they will bend quite a bit if they've any height; I unplug my wires before putting the Decksaver back on.

[40.16 lb] It’s not an eight-voice polysynth with presets. But it truly is a system dedicated to exploring how analog modules can interact, and the sequencer is powerful. It’s a very good first Eurorack system, but also a very natural central unit for controlling and interacting with other modular gear. You can absolutely make interesting bass lines and melodies with this thing in the first few hours but my guess is I’ll be fiddling with it for years. I’m a fan. It’s what you make of it, but you can make a lot.

[40.16 lb] I bought Moog because I wanted to make sure I had a lifetime of sonic possibilities to explore. I stopped using hardware synths in 2005 and wanted to get back into them. I had only ever owned semi-modular synths like a Juno 106 (original, I’ve been into electronic music since I was 15 – 50 now), various things I never really loved that much, an Access Virus Classic, and a VSynth. One of my favorite plug-ins since I went completely on the box is the Arturia Moog Modular and I knew, whatever I got it, it would be a Moog.

I don't have as much space as I used to. I could comfortably fit a Moog Subsequent 25 (20”) or Subsequent 37 (26.5”) but was worried it might feel too big for the space. I decided I wanted to have the flexibility to integrate the best and most creative components I could find around the Moog so I chose this bundle. I also ordered a Subharmonicon that was so awesome in the mix bit it had a defect and had to go back. I can’t wait for them to be available again.

[40.16 lb] I preordered the VL2 based purely on my enjoyment of Pittsburgh's previous Taiga synth. The VL2 is a completely blank slate for you to dive in, experiment and tweak/build to your hearts desire. The new waveform/folding options are deep and the sequencer on this system is amazing. Create anything from polyrhythms and percussives to full on melodic arrangements, all complete with chance/scanning/scrubbing/fills/slides etc. The middle blue row (shared by both sequencers) is a terrific idea that opens up your modulation options in really fun ways that you may not fully realize until you get your hands on the system. Florist chorus/reverb and a longer delay (than the Taiga) are welcome effect additions to add flavor to any arrangement. I LOVE this synth. It's big, it's easy to touch and play and it sounds amazing. They nailed it once again.
